I’ve bought the Penelope Chilvers Shepherdess sandals in tan, they have been a great choice. They are incredibly comfortable and soft. I think they look stylish but I’m prepared to be contradicted by the youngsters.

I’m eyeing up mesh pointed toe flats and a pair of adidas ballet taekwondo trainers in cow print.
I have sandals/mules sorted from previous years.

Im living in flip flops this summer.

I bought some silver leather woven flats from next - really lovely

I’ve bought Dr Marten Voss Two sandals.

I'm liking all the woven flats, but don't love wearing totally flat shoes.

@JMAngel1 What kind of wedges do you have?

I'm debating these

@Britpopbaby Were those comfortable straight off, or do they need breaking in? I tried their Zebzag sandals recently and liked them (ok, I might end up buying more than one pair of shoes) but felt like it might take them a while to break in.

@user6758493 sorry I don’t really do wedges.
I just have sandals and mules. I prefer a stiletto or kitten heel or a flat. I find wedges make me look and feel heavier when I walk.

What does it matter what the youngsters think?. They're so graceful and flattering. and, you say, comfortable. Win, win, win.

Late 50s so I'm not exactly a youngster either ...! But I like Penelope Chilvers* footwear a lot. Really good quality, comfy, & I'd consider them stylish rather than "fashionable" as such.

To me that's a good thing. What's fashionable right now has to also fit in with my personal style, & the colours & fabrics & shapes that I like & suit.

Your sandals are lovely, & won't date for a long time. Unlike those ubiquitous toe-post kitten heels that every outfit on every clothing site seems to be styled with right now! Though I hate the feeling of a leather thong between my toes, so I'm biased, but I just can't imagine them being comfortable? They may look quite nice, but I won't be wearing them!

*Also love the bags, & there are a few pieces in the small clothing line that I love!

I have a thing about red shoes & covet these greatly. Though I'd be happy with anything from here, really ...!

I bought Vivaia hybrid Mary-Jane’s. I love them. I’ve worn them with a lot of different outfits.

These are lovely.

Personally I think you can't go wrong with a pair of comfortable, ever-so-slightly-geeky looking tan leather sandals! Not quite fisherman's sandals, not Saltwaters, not exactly Famous Five but something somewhere in between.

Supersimkin7 · 05/06/2026 12:17

I’ve got those Chilvers espadrilles!

They go baggy at the back, just so you know. Very, very comfy tho.

Ooh these are beautiful! I love red shoes as well.

I recently got the Penelope Chilvers Shepherdess sandals in tan too and they are so comfortable, maybe not trendy as such but very stylish and goes with a lot

I bought a pair of handmade espadrilles similar to these and now my life is complete:
