Time for another thread. Spring and Summer releases are trickling out to tempt us AND the advent calendar waitlists are appearing...hope you are all feeling suitably Christmassy. 😂

Thanks everyone who continues to contribute to the chatter and welcome to any newbies who want to join in.

@user593 - it’s true to say that since I discovered the delights of Boots recycling I have been spending more regularly in Boots.

However, I have been really good about only buying £10 worth of stuff that I would have got from there anyway- mostly industrial quantities of hand soap and the large Dove body wash bottles. I will probably buy some new razor blades next time just to mix things up a bit!

It’s quite satisfying to be able to see what I have been recycling. I have done four deposits in the last four weeks: 5 skincare and 15 toiletry items.

I was out with a friend earlier in the week - she's saving her points for a Dyson hairdryer 😆

I've only recycled once this month as one of the items I wanted was OOS on my other 2 visits. I need Piriton so will go tomorrow.

I've been waiting for this CB GWP to drop forever!

Me too I have £50 off vouchers burning a hole!

MrsBnow12 · 29/05/2026 07:28

Looks like Space NK may have sorted out their issues as the gwp is now online and they have new perfume samples.

Time on my hands as it's half term.

I don't need anything, but I'm tempted by the JL Summer Glow box - £65.

Then Boots have 15% off, a Clarins GWP and a SDJ GWP.

And now I'm looking at the SNK GWP.

Ho hum.

Beautyfox · 29/05/2026 08:07

I’ve gone a bit crazy recently and I’m not sure I can blame half term or more time on my hands. Today I have ordered SNk gwp (I do quite like a lot of the things). Yesterday I ordered the Harrods GWP to match the one I already have. And the day before I ordered the HN GWp to match the 2 I already have. I now have more than enough to see me through to Christmas and beyond. May was my birthday month so I’m justifying it that way but I am committing to a no spend June.

btw @Cyclingmummy1 clarins have 20% off their gift sets and a gwp so may be worth comparing to boots.

TragicMuse · 29/05/2026 08:42

Gatineau have a buy 2 get 1 free on full size products and a GWP on a £70 spend. And 15% off for new customers, which stacks. And free delivery over £40.

So you could get 2 bottle of the fake tan, get a third for nothing, spend £93.50, get the gift, and free delivery.

I already have enough for now, otherwise I would go for it!

Fillybuster · 29/05/2026 08:57

I fessed up to DH about the ridiculously large non-beauty Liberty order that took less than 15 mins to spend but may have forgotten to mention the large Harrods box that will be arriving on the same day. And we know how discreet their packaging is 🤣

I’m steaming ahead with my Boots recycling now I have got the hang of it. However, it’s made me even more determined to stop buying so much. I had no idea how much plastic waste I was generating on a regular basis just from skincare products.

Tbf, it’s DS1 who is practically bathing in hand wash, as well as actual body wash, several times a day, but I have to put my hands up to the rest of it!

I just hope that Boots keeps up the recycling programme 🤞

Have you tried foaming dispensers for your hand wash and shower gel?! They are brilliant for any kind of liquid soap. I have ones like this for all of my handwash and shower gel at every sink and shower in the house and it makes the products last SO much longer.
You mix it liquid soap to warm water in a ratio of about 1:4, so only a little soap in the bottom. Then I give it a good stir and you’re good to go. I buy the refill sizes of handwash which I think are 1l, and they last months this way, so hardly any plastic. I put a Molton Brown shower gel from an edit in there, tiny hotel size thing that would usually last one or two showers, and it lasted me a week. You can use them for washing up liquid too.
Mine are glass bottles but you can get loads of designs to suit your decor. Just make sure it’s a foaming dispenser!

...and another random beauty thought. They are all spilling out now having been overly preoccupied with work recently.

I LOVE the Vintner's Daughter cleanser that is close to finished. I got it in the Beautylish (US) lucky bag.

You can buy it in a couple of places here (CB and HN) but it's always on the list of excluded brands from offers and discounts. It's £100 which is ridiculous for a smallish bottle of cleanser, even AB is under £60.

Did I mention I LOVE it though! I think my skin has looked really bright and calm since I started using it. I don't want a 100 quid tiny cleanser habit though. 😭

I’ve never understood this though when I read posts. Yes it’s expensive cleanser, but it’s a product you love and you often spend £100 on beauty. Better to buy a cleaner you love than lots of minis and half loved sets?

I appreciate there is deep rooted habits here! Like how I’ll never jump to buy a set even though I know I need something in it … and then buy it full price when I run out of everything. So many things I didn’t buy that I would have used.

BakeOffRewatch · 29/05/2026 09:38

I’ve earned a lot through the boots recycling scheme too and overall I’m spending less
because I’m buying brands they stock rather than CB. I need to explore which products are worth staying premium for.

im saving for a Lumie alarm clock!

No, you're right and I have had this conversation with myself. I may well buy it when I've run my cleanser stash down. If I didn't buy other stuff then a stupid priced cleanser would be neither here nor there.

I suppose the conflict comes from it not being the only cleanser I really like, there are others I rate highly which are half or less of the price of this one. It's also only 115ml which I can get through in about a month. I feel it should be either half the price or twice the size.

None of it is logical though. 😂

I'm resisting Space NK GWP, which is a big feat for me. There are thigns I need but i'd really have to go crazy to meet the spend. No more mini pots of moisturiser when I have about three years worth to get through ...

namechange0998776554799000 · 29/05/2026 11:04

I actively don't want the SNK GWP - so many small sizes and so many products I already own or will never use. But I really want to buy the Victoria Beckham foundation, and SNK is the only place that ever has the right shade...

Doglover73 · 29/05/2026 11:06

If you are already looking to buy something its a bonus. Im resisting space nk as no new edits to tempt me and spent a pot at liberty on 3 orders. 🤣

Fillybuster · 29/05/2026 11:25

@Doglover73 i think that’s right - and I need to stick to that more! I can (just about) justify the Harrods spend as I’ve been thinking about both the highlighter & perfume for a few weeks, so 20% discount and those 2 taking me a long way towards the GWP was kind of ok. But after my big SK splurge, and several edits in April & May, there’s absolutely nothing I need on the skincare front at the moment, so I really need to stop for a bit!

could probably justify some new actual makeup at some point (I wear every day, full face for work but basic eyes & face base + blush even at home) and to be honest my makeup is nowhere near as upmarket or considered as my skincare but I think for that I’ll need to spend some time in real shops trying things on properly. I have a huge collection of not quite right foundations because I’ve just guessed online. I live & work in London so it’s not like I don’t have access to great shops, I just need to make some time for it!

namechange0998776554799000 · 29/05/2026 11:29

I was in London yesterday, walked past Sephora, SNK, Liberty, walked all the way through Selfridges - and wasn't allowed to even browse ANY beauty products. So cruel 😆. I was only in there for Jellycats for DD's birthday treat. It did make me resolved to go back on my own at some point to do some proper browsing. So much more available than in my little local branches

namechange0998776554799000 · 29/05/2026 11:47

If anyone's interested in the new Hourglass Blur lip balms, they have them in Sephora and they're doing their spin to win which you can keep retrying until you get 20% off. I'm hoping they will be as nice as the phantom glossy balms, which I love

I feel the same about the Allies of Skin anti aging daily moisturiser. It made me look amazing. But I have so many moisturisers. In my head serums are the only thing worth spending money on, cleansers and moisturisers are basics that don’t need to be pricey.

Hicupping · 29/05/2026 12:52

VC has £30 gift card with £150 spend at HN. The free gift with £175 spend is still available and 15% off for members.

BookShark · 29/05/2026 13:44

Bugger, if I'd known the SNK GWP was going to go online, I'd have waited for that instead of Harrods - not that I'm unhappy with the Harrods one, I just like the idea of having more new things to try in the SNK one.

My Harrods order was officially the dullest - Sunday Riley CEO serum and Auto Correct eye cream, plus some Dr Dennis Gross daily peel things, which are a bit daft expensive but I do think they make a difference to my skin so I tend to get them when I need to make a minimum spend figure.

Now I'm off to see what else I can justify stocking up on to hit the SNK figure!

IDontHateRainbows · 29/05/2026 14:08

Not tempted by space nk. Too many teenies. I wish they'd just do a decent kit or box, not one thats a mish mash of slow selling / unpopular products.

I Impulsively bought the VB foundation, and i really like it. I used my SNK points towards it, but ill be hanging around for a GWP when i run out.

IlovePond · 29/05/2026 14:29

Thanks @Bootsorflipflops - I shall investigate!

Umbilicat · 29/05/2026 14:32

V interested in the VB foundation but I need to go in store to check it out, I always buy foundations online that are way too pale
