Why is a good v neck tee really hard to find??

Am I really asking for the moon on a stick??

I'm apple shaped and V neck tees suit me. However, all I'm seeing right now are crew necks. They look fine when I'm wearing an open jacket over them, but otherwise I just look ... square.

To make matters more difficult, I'm very long waisted and many tops out there right now only come to my belly button. Not a good look.

About 3 or 4 years ago, m&s were selling exactly what I was looking for - v neck tees in long length (but not long on me) in a cotton / viscose (I think) mix that draped really nicely. They washed really well and are only now starting to look a bit faded.

But I can't find anything similar. So - can anyone help?? Slightly longer than standard V neck tees - good basics that go with anything. Thank you!!

I found the dream a few weeks ago!!
Lovely v shape neckline, good arm - not too tight and not too loose, and great length, they sit slightly longer at the back over the bum. They’re perfect!!

Should have said the Matalan ones are 100% cotton too.

Sleeves too short though.

i was surprise to find some nice v neck in the sweaty betty sale. White or light grey, the fabric is really good , like it feels a bit expensive and holds well and the shape and lenght are perfect for me (36DD)
other good v neck i have found on amazon! And on facebook thru a random ad! The fabric is more synthetic but good drop as well and very cheap…and perfect v neck!

Ketwell colours. Season tones and definitely v necks.

I have the Amazon ones. I find they fit well and are long enough

Chodge34 · 10/05/2026 22:08

Edinburgh Woollen Mill do a good selection, plain, patterned (which I prefer) and also notch neck. Sleeves could do with being slightly longer though

Carrie76 · 10/05/2026 22:29

I haven’t read the whole thread but whistles have lovely organic cotton v-necks at the moment.

Yes nice plain v neck jumpers at a reasonable price are hard to find too. I’m wearing out a Boden thin knit I bought years ago and an old navy one from La redoute. Everything has fecking dropped shoulders too now which if you any kind of big boobs just makes you look huge. Bring back the v neck!

Yes!! Everything is short and wide with massive sleeves. I’m short and wide enough already!

Sillyme1 · 11/05/2026 10:40

Next have some v necks, a little longer which I like being fairly tall and only £7.50! I have bought several now. I don’t like crew necks either.

JaneFondue · 11/05/2026 11:09

The Next v necks are quite good for the price but a bit long. I am 5'7.

hermitcrab · 11/05/2026 11:44

Asda have some in at the moment. I’m long in the body and they fit really well.

Came here to recommend these. I have a small frame but large bust and tummy, these are just right - not too clingy, but not shapeless, decent length of sleeve and cover my ‘bottom belly’ 😂 I’m a 14-16 in tops but got medium so they’re not too baggy.

YourHangryLimeSheep · 11/05/2026 13:09

Sweaty Betty have good ones, slightly more expensive but they wear and wash really well.

I headed off to next today excited on the back of this thread. Thought I’d feed back:

I tried the cap sleeve as recommended further up thread, unfortunately I’m short and small framed but with chubby arms, so I needed the small to make sure that it wasn’t too gaped at the bust, but then the sleeves were too tight on my arms.

but then I found mixed amongst them this one https://www.next.co.uk/style/su380973/e59952 which is the “slouch” style and has longer arms. So I got the XS and that fit well and covers my chunky arms up. Unfortunately most colours out of stock but I picked up the red and if it washes well I’ll order some more.

FluffyMcFluffFace · 11/05/2026 13:55

Next do decent quality plain V neck t shirts in lots of different colours. I also can't wear a crew neck, and I have about 20 of the Next ones. I'm long waisted and 5' 6.5" and they are plenty long enough for me.

Sundayblue26 · 11/05/2026 15:37

Jigsaw scoop neck and v neck are a nice shape. I buy every year

Sailingby · 11/05/2026 15:48

Uniqlo are selling decent, plain, cotton v-neck t-shirts this season. For c£15 - not the £30+ ridiculous price some shops sell them at. I’m stocking up!

Allseeingallknowing · 11/05/2026 16:15

Just ordered one from Land’s end

Lifeomars · 11/05/2026 16:21

I like v necks or slightly open necks on most things, dresses, tops and especially t shirts as v necks really suit me. I agree that a good quality white v neck t shirt is now heading towards unicorn status so following this thread with interest. I have a couple that I got ages ago in M and S and the quality is so much better than those they have on offer now.
