Estee's Modern Muse is nice for every day and it's often on offer.

Dofferemt scents smell differwntly on different people. My gran used to wear Guerlain's L'Heure Bleu and to take me make I bought a bottle thinking it would remind me of her. It smelt loke Harpic on me.

What on earth is this thread? I cannot believe the outrage of someone asking for recommendations about work perfumes. I work in a busy hospital - a mix of clinical and non clinical and I come into contact with at least 100 people a day, whether it’s in the office, ward or in hospital cafe / shop. Many many people with different scents and many wear perfumes. I had no idea so many people were intolerant to it. Never even crossed my mind to think it was inappropriate- all
my team wear perfumes.

Overtheatlantic · 06/05/2026 22:40

That’s interesting because I’ve worked in offices for a few decades and it’s always been known that wearing heavy perfumes is frowned upon because it can create an unpleasant environment for others.

Ibwah · 06/05/2026 22:47

i work in an office with 13 women and two men and this has never been mentioned once. In fact, my manager and I got a selection set of perfumes from noted aromas and we all tested them in the office

KeeleyJ · 06/05/2026 22:52

I'm loving The Body Shop Green Tea* and Elderflower body spray just now.

It's a lovely spring like scent and good for spraying all over liberally. £15 ish for the bottle which is perfect as I'm not wasting expensive stuff on my customers!

(*It's might be white tea, can't remember 😂).

Bigboldfont · 06/05/2026 22:58

I work in an office environment, don't wear a strong perfume. It stinks, triggers migraine and asthma and allergic reactions.

The choice isn't BO or strong perfume, you could wash with soap and use antiperspirant.

EffortlesslyDistracted · 06/05/2026 23:06

Another saying please don't wear string fragrance in the office, I'm one of those who gets nausea and headaches from it, there's one in particular that sets me off, my colleague sometimes wears it and I have to make sure I don't go to lunch with her on those days. M&S EDTs are a good suggestion.

Katrinawaves · 06/05/2026 23:08

It’s a bit of an odd ask - what do you recommend to make me smell brash and cheap at work!

If the question was what smells subtle and expensive, it would be a bit more understandable…

Some ppl cant afford expensive scents. So buy the dupes Christ the snobbery here at times. Ive been wearing the Aldi dupe of Jo Malones Poppy and Barley and its lovely. Decent longevity and not too strong.

Rootintootincowgirl · 06/05/2026 23:39

M&S do a lovely range

I'd go for something fresh and light. Just Pink from Next is a good office scent. 🌸

Good call! Smells lovely, not sweet, not too strong.

CornishTiger · 07/05/2026 00:15

Decades ago an ex of mine used to say he could smell me in the corridors of work if I’d just been past. He was ASD and highly sensory though. Still wear that perfume my signature scent and get comments everytime. It lasts but isn’t offensive.

Never had an issue with anyone’s perfume in work even when pregnant. Did ditch a few of my own - well passed onto a friend. She doused herself in it when I next visited. Still can stomach coco mademoiselle.

sodoffbeforemycupofcoff · 06/05/2026 19:04

😂😂😂😂😂. Better than smelling BO I’m sure they’ll survive

Yuk. BO is not as bad as overpowering scent.

Also wear this. It’s my cheaper work scent now. I’m not wasting branded stuff on that place! Is a dupe of Ralph Lauren Romance.

Contrarymary30 · 07/05/2026 00:24

I love any by Jo Malone. I've also bought the copies which are very close and a tenth of the price . They are very subtle and not too sweet and sickly .

EvelynBeatrice · 07/05/2026 00:26

I love perfume but for the office or anywhere else you’re effectively ‘contained’ with other people, something light, inoffensive and which can only really be smelled by people very close to you is what’s called for.

I like Rituals L’Eclat. Light, woody rather than sweet and doesn’t project much at all. You can use it as a base scent for other perfumes when you’re not at work too. The other advantage is that a small bottle is only eighteen pounds or so so you can try it out cheaply.

Fugazzi Magic Mango

I thought this was a joke name for the perfume, but it is an actual fragrance.

Fugazzi? I thought Fugazi is slang for fake.

sodoffbeforemycupofcoff · 06/05/2026 19:03

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I can have anaphylactic reactions to airborne exposure of some perfumes. I rarely go to the office because it is so dangerous. If I do go, people can’t wear perfume or anything else scented. My condition counts as a disability.

Laughing about this is offensive. Do you laugh at people who need wheelchairs?

DuellingBanjos · 07/05/2026 00:38

LoopyGremlin · 06/05/2026 22:08

I buy M&S perfumes for work. Cheap and dupes of popular fragrances.

I do this too. Spray coco mademoiselle in the morning and top up with M&S soft iris, or Chance and use pink pepper to refresh.

chocolateaddictions · 07/05/2026 02:10

Please don’t wear perfume to work! It’s so selfish.

iamnotalemon · 07/05/2026 03:36

I wear Next Summer Sun and it’s a dupe for Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess.

TheGrimSmile · 07/05/2026 04:18

It's really selfish to wear a stong perfume to work. For many people it can trigger migraines. You dont need it. Just wash and wear deodorant.

Well there are many people for whom strong artificial smells are a problem. They can trigger asthma, migraines, nausea. It's really unnecessary and selfish. Nobody else should be forced to breathe in other people's toxic chemicals. I actually like the smell of many perfumes but they make me feel physically ill. It's not unusual.

sodoffbeforemycupofcoff · 07/05/2026 05:44

To the people getting offended over over fragrance, unapologetically, get a grip.
to everyone who actually gave advice thank you! ☺️
