Third piercing

Early 50s. Have 2 piercings in each ear lobe already. Considering a third. Play safe and have 3rd in lobe?

Safe in your 50’s? Nahhhhh go wild!
get your tragus or daith pierced. Or your nose? I got my nose pierced at 40 and love it.

dogonthefloor · 21/04/2026 22:42

What do you mean play safe? As opposed to doing the cartilage? I'd do three and four in one lobe and maybe a couple of cartilage ones at the same time - same ear, so you can sleep on the other while it's healing. Then when that side is healed go back and get three and four in the other lobe and get a cartilage one there too. You can't have the same number on both sides. I have six in one, five in the other. Go for it

I got my Tragus done for my 50th, but it gave me a wrinkle on my cheek as I had to sleep on that side for so long! I then went on to have my 3rd lobe done.
Go for it but at a proper piercing studio.

Following with interest as I have 3 in one lobe and 1 in the other (the additional 2 were self done as a teen - I’m now mid 50s!) really fancy more doing but not sure what to do next

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 21/04/2026 22:56

I had my nose pierced last year at 44. I love it and was really nervous about having it done. It healed so much better than any of my previous piercings. I have two in each earlobe. Had my belly button pierced at 21 but had to remove it as it wouldn’t heal.

HotChocolateBubbleBath · 21/04/2026 23:04

I’m 59, I have one in each lobe, used to have 4 but I don’t like that anymore. I have an industrial and a helix in my right ear too. I fancy a low helix in my left ear but as I wear a motorcycle helmet I know it’ll hurt or rip it out.

Onemorestepaling · 21/04/2026 23:16

@dogonthefloor just wondering why I shouldn’t have the same number each side?

Looks more trendy if you mix each side up a bit (I'm 36) - I vote tragus or rook.

Another vote for different number and positions in each ear.

GrimDamnFanjo · 22/04/2026 00:28

Conch! I only have single lobes 3 cartilage in one ear 4 in the other.

MississippiCroc · 22/04/2026 10:42

I’m in my 40s and have two in one lobe, 3 in the other. Nose, conch, tragus, two helix’s, forward helix, rook, high conch and plan on more!

Don’t play safe! 😂

DaisyMayBojangles · 22/04/2026 11:22

I had my daith done recently for my 53rd birthday 😁

Third piercing

Got me thinking now!
Thinking of third lobe both sides and one side add tragus, helix or low helix. Looks like the non lobe ones take ages to heal ( and no swimming ) and have a holiday in a few months…

Anyone who’s had a cartlidge piercing, how long did you have to avoid swimming?

OP posts:
dogonthefloor · 23/04/2026 07:37

Hm I don't remember being told to avoid swimming... But a few months should be ok?
Best healing I've had is where I leave them alone. Nothing but water running over them in the shower - no scrubbing or using a cotton bud or salt water - literally leave them alone.
Go get them done!

MississippiCroc · 23/04/2026 07:51

I don’t think I’ve ever been told to avoid swimming. Don’t twist the piercings. Cartilage piercings can take a long time to heal, this is normal!

MerelyPlaying · 23/04/2026 07:56

I don’t remember being told to avoid swimming. I have a tragus piercing and I love it, but it’s completely different to having a lobe done - it took a lot longer to heal (in terms of it hurting to lie on that side). Not trying to put you off, just be aware that it’s a different experience and can be a bit painful till it heals.

MississippiCroc · 23/04/2026 08:55

My tragus healed fine but my conch and rook were spicy!

Onemorestepaling · 23/04/2026 22:25

Those of you who’ve had tragus or helix, how long til it healed?

OP posts:
MerelyPlaying · 23/04/2026 22:34

Tragus - I don’t think it took long to heal as in bleeding. A few weeks before I could sleep on that side. But it was genuinely a year before it was no longer painful to touch.

fashionqueen0123 · 23/04/2026 22:36

Our piercer said to avid swimming for 12 weeks if you can

creamcheeseandlox · 23/04/2026 22:39

I am 46 and have three in each lobe a flat on my right and a nose ring. Only got the nose ring done 2 yrs ago and I love it. Want to get more so thinking of a tragas or a conch. My 16yr old DD is also addicted to piercings and has 8 across her ears.
