Beauty chat - freebies/gifts with purchase/offers THREAD FOURTEEN

1000 replies

OvaHere · 19/04/2026 09:03

Time for a new thread, our first in a MN Community Group. We've chatted and purchased beauty bargains so much we've become a literal tribe! 😂

In other news PLouise was out of the gate with ridiculous speed announcing the first advent calendar waitlist in April.

In celebration I thought I'd try out a poll. It runs for 7 days, there was only 6 options so comment in the thread for those that come under 'Other'.

As always, welcome back long standing beauty bargain hunters and hi to anyone new who would like to join. Usual caveats about the threads being bad for you wallet still apply, but enjoy anyway. 🤗

What do you all think the price will be? There are some good brand names in there. If the SPFs are full size I will snap up.

It’s £40:

Mmm- the M&S bag is probably a no from me - unless I get some M&S vouchers between then and now.

I bought the Jarrolds bag the other day, so really shouldn’t be getting another beauty bag.

IDontKnowWhatYouMean · 30/04/2026 20:33

Oh I have the app and googled and couldn’t find that, thank you! It depends on the sizes of the products for me still.

pinkchampagne1 · 30/04/2026 21:53

Not sure about the M&S bag. I really wanted it last year and it sold out really quickly so couldn’t get hold of it. Think last year it was £35. Don’t think this year’s looks quite as good and it is more expensive.

Can anyone recall which edit the Parfums de Marly Palatine came in? I am updating my spreadsheet and it’s driving me mad as I can’t remember 😅

Also, LF have up to 40% off (though mostly less) plus an extra 5% and a free gift in the app for £70 spend

From my notes there was a 5ml in the Perfume Society box and 10ml in the PDM advent

Thelifeofawife · 30/04/2026 22:30

@MrsBnow12 Thank you, you’re a star! I wondered if it may have been the society box but I didn’t have a list of contents for it.

While updating my spreadsheet I’ve realised just how much stuff I’ve bought over the past 6 months or so. I’ve also realised how many eyeshadow palettes and make up brush sets I’ve bought and not yet used 😬

Doglover73 · 30/04/2026 23:08

I like the m and s bag. Just the bag 🤣

Hi can anyone recommend a foundation for combination skin, please I’m in my 40s. I used to wear Estée Lauder double wear but it doesn’t sit on my skin nicely anymore

I’m early 40s with combination skin, I like (in order of coverage):

Erborian CC
Lisa Eldridge Enhancing Skin Tint
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

I also like Merit The Minimalist for on the go, touch ups etc.

I’m a bit older and in my fifties and my favourites are:

Victoria Beckham foundation drops
It cosmetics do it all balm
Dior foundation stick

I used to use double wear but as my skin changed through menopause it became cakey and didn’t sit well anymore.

Hi @Lonely12 - there was a whole thread about the change to the EL double wear formula. You'll find some more recommendations on there.

All Beauty were stocking the original DW formula, but i think they only have a few shades available now.

Foundation advice- fed up | Mumsnet

I know skin changed as you get older. I’m almost 42 and just feel entirely fed up with foundation as I feel like I no longer know what works on my ski...

I doubt it. It will be an email voucher code that probably works on some stuff and not others.

So pretty worthless like the birthday vouchers !

I have managed to use the e-vouchers previously on some stuff I've wanted but it's not the same as when they used to give £15 in points. The main issue is you don't know until you have the voucher what it will and won't work on.

The upside is I feel less pressure to jump on the deal than when they gave £15/20 as reward points.

I’ve got a £10 off £50 spend at Debenhams. Unfortunately I just bought two more of the Female Founders Edit. I nearly bought the Nude Lavalliere blush and LoveShine lipstick this morning but I’m not sure they’re me. The blush looks very pigmented? I like the glowy look they seem to give though. They have a YSL mini lip liner as a GWP and it would be £52.24 all up 🤔

Yes I find the blush a bit too pigmented for me. I love the loveshine lipstick, but I bought it in blushed mallow. When I swatched, the nude lavelliere looked different to how I expected (although I can't remember how any more!)

keepincool · 01/05/2026 12:37

I keep going back to the SNK Blush and Glow edit - it has 20% off and I have £5 in points so it would cost me £35.

Did anyone get this and is it worth adding to my stash?

I’m glad you said that because I think that’s the first time I’ve heard anything negative said about it!

If not that, does anyone have any recs for what I might spend this Debenhams voucher on? ☺️

IlovePond · 01/05/2026 12:44

@keepincool - I think it depends on whether you like the perfume, as it’s an expensive brand. (I don’t - all the Vyrao perfumes smell vile to me - but some people love them!)

It’s a cute set - I saw it irl - but apart from the perfume, the sizes are small.
