Beauty chat - freebies/gifts with purchase/offers THREAD FOURTEEN

Time for a new thread, our first in a MN Community Group. We've chatted and purchased beauty bargains so much we've become a literal tribe! 😂

In other news PLouise was out of the gate with ridiculous speed announcing the first advent calendar waitlist in April.

In celebration I thought I'd try out a poll. It runs for 7 days, there was only 6 options so comment in the thread for those that come under 'Other'.

As always, welcome back long standing beauty bargain hunters and hi to anyone new who would like to join. Usual caveats about the threads being bad for you wallet still apply, but enjoy anyway. 🤗

Thanks for this! Also stacked with FREEDEL for free next day delivery so ordered one for a friend's birthday. It's a good set.

That's a good deal. I tried the FREEDEL code yesterday and it didn't stack.

Has anyone tried the Patrick Ta lip balms? I absolutely don’t need any more tube balms/gloss but Espresso is calling my name. I’m wondering how they compare to others, such as Rhode or Summer Fridays…

I've seen good reviews. I've nearly bought one numerous times but I have 3 open tubes of lip balms and 2 + 1 mini of unopened, so haven't managed to justify it yet.

The Beauty Detective gives a rave review of the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant today - https://beauty-detective.com/paulas-choice-skin-perfecting-2-bha-liquid-exfoliant-review/

It just happens to be included in the YOU Beauty Luxury Skincare Box priced at £65 if anyone is interested. It's not suitable for my skin unfortunately.

Fenwick have a sale for members. Some good stuff for 25% off but a lot of it gone very quickly. Other discounts 15-20%.

I did almost buy a Gucci lip tint with 25% off but the catch is their free delivery threshold is £65 otherwise you pay £5, and the offer won't stack with points so I stropped off. 😂

Good deals but only worth it if you're buying more than one thing. I reasoned I'd be able to get the lip tints reduced at some point with one of the sites I have free delivery with.

I know this is the wrong place, but does anyone have a referral code for Bloom & Wild?
Also, can anyone point me in the direction of the referral thread? I have lost it and can’t find a current one in my search 🙃

I don’t know if you have a Tesco clubcard but you can use your points on B & W. They also let you use any codes floating around at the same time.

Ooh this is good to know! I normally use Moonpig but they can be hit and miss, but I’ve had lovely flowers myself from B&W

Not a makeup or skincare bargain but I found this article quite interesting! https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2026/apr/27/cosmeticorexia-obsession-flawless-skin-skincare-body-image-mental-health-children

TragicMuse · 27/04/2026 16:10

I’ve decided I NEED a k-beauty spray SPF to gently mist my face as a top up during the day. Can’t find one on SK. I’m going to have to look at Stylevana…

Because I NEED IT!

user593 · 27/04/2026 16:15

@TragicMuse Ooh that sounds interesting. I don’t tend to wear makeup so just reapply BoJ throughout the day but a spray would be useful!

I definitely want to get an over-makeup spray SPF before the summer. I have an ombre solaire one which is actually pretty good, but would love any new suggestions!

I've finally caught up!

It's been a very frugal few months on the beauty buy front although I did cave for the perfume samples and yes, I too have one of those masks! And when I was at Gretna Gateway outlet on my way down south last week I did buy the most gorgeous Tom Ford eyeshadow quad - one of you had mentioned it so thanks for the heads up. It's beautiful and now I need a night out somewhere fab to give it a proper outing! I justified it to myself on the basis that a 7 hour drive the length of the M6 on my own meant I deserved a treat!

I'm another who's lost a lot of weight over the last couple of years thanks to GLP-1s and so I've mostly been replacing my wardrobe. Thank heavens for Vinted - that reminds me, I did buy one of the CB GWPs on there thanks to you dreadful enablers!

It's interesting to see that so many of us here are losing/have lost weight. The confidence that comes with it is striking and lovely to see. Now I feel that it's worth spending money on clothes and skincare etc because I feel good. Before, I felt a bit guilty and also because I still didn't like how I looked it felt a bit pointless.

Now, I'm enjoying playing with clothes and make up etc - I wear lipstick regularly and I've never really done that before. Apparently Rimmel's Heather Shimmer isn't the thing there any more! I've moved over to MAC's Velvet Teddy and CT's 90s Pink.

Anyway, as you were. Just wanted to pop in and say how much I love these threads. The nicest place on MN I think x

OvaHere · 27/04/2026 17:05

Thanks @BurningTheToast lovely that so many people enjoy it here.

I did start the skincare/make up/self care overhaul before losing weight. I started the gym/weights and dipped my toe into beauty stuff around the same time. Combined it all boosted me to take the step into properly tackling the weight. I've maintained for over 12 months and keeping everything crossed that the looming menopause doesn't fuck it up too much.

My Jarrolds kit arrived today. It's a lovely edit and I really like the bag, feels good quality. I'm going to take it with me next month as it's a good mini break size.

Not k-beauty, but I've been a user of La Roche-posay anthelios spray sunscreen for a few years, and really like it (and it's always on offer somewhere!). I use the one for 'oily skin', and it is lightly cooling as well as gives a slightly matt finish without any white cast - i happily spray itnover makeup through the day. And small enough to easily carry around in a bag.

Rimmels Heather Shimmer ! That was my ride or die back in the day 😂

That and Iron Lady from Miss Selfridge. Loved their make up. I had a huge loose powder brush from them that I thought was terribly sophisticated. Still like to finish with a tiny swish of loose powder from a big brush - the girl on the Trinny counter told me that was very old fashioned! Don't care!

Thanks , me too if only because I'm comfort shopping to cheer myself up and have bought far too much recently!

Willow742 · 27/04/2026 18:33

Anyone know how strict vouchercodes are with their cult beauty edit exclusion rules? They've got a £15 gift card when you spend £60 at cult beauty today but I'm only really interested in the hair edit again (since lookfantastic don't want to give us theirs 🙄)

Thelifeofawife · 27/04/2026 18:54

@BurningTheToast Oh good old Heather Shimmer! That was the only lipstick I ever got along with until I joined this thread! (Any other just made my lips look awful)
I’m also still a sucker for a big brush and loose powder. I only use from time to time now, but I can’t see myself completely stopping.
It was me who mentioned the TF eyeshadow quad - which shade did you go for? And yes, you definitely deserve it after a 7 hour solo drive!

@IDontHateRainbows Get well soon (and happy spending in the meantime!) 💐

@Fillybuster Thank you for the link to referrals thread 😃

BakeOffRewatch · 27/04/2026 19:25

Is anyone else an anti-stasher like me? My version of finding beauty kits in random cupboards, is getting to the bottom of something thinking I have much more and then realising no I don’t and I probably should have bought that edit or got that GWP! I’m sure I was telling you all how much moisturiser I had and now I don’t have any day moisturiser. I was going through the 3 boxes I have and there’s loads of hand cream but no face moisturiser.

Also running out of balm cleanser, really should have used the Liberty 20% off skincare. Has anyone heard back about the competition on 14th April? That’s the only day I made a purchase.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 27/04/2026 20:19

@BakeOffRewatch I have successfully destashed some of my haircare categories and now find myself with seriously good hair and no more products to maintain it.
Meanwhile, have more serums on order despite not being in any danger of running out 👀
