Recommendations for comfortable holiday sandals

ShyGreyFinch · 12/04/2026 19:55

Hi, I'm sick of going on holiday and getting sore feet, flip flops cut inside my toes and sliders/sandals rub the side of my feet. Can anyone recommend comfortable sandals that still look nice if I was going out at night for dinner. Thanks.

Anything from Fitflop. Seriously.

Even their 'basic' rubber flip flops are like walking in air and their leather sandals are even better. Makes everything else feel like rocks on your feet.

Yes, FitFlop. I could have written this word for word. I have 6 pairs now, and could walk up Everest in any of them.

I have Plain black Tevas and black birkinstocks
Sometimes I'll take my Russell and Bromley sandals depending where we going x

SecretSquid · 13/04/2026 16:35

Birkenstocks just don't suit my feet. I have tevas, live them but suspect you either get on with them or you don't.
I got Hotter tourists when recovering from a broken ankle. People kept asking me where they were from and were shocked when they found out. They are really comfy, supportive, don't look like hiking sandals, adjustable front and back. I really struggle to get sandals that aren't too wide over my toes so adjustable is brilliant.

I love my ECCO outdoor walking sandals, not really tidy enough for dinner (although I have and will do it again) but perfect for everything else. I've done 25,000+ steps at Disney wearing them with no issues. We just went to the Carribbean and I only took 2 pairs of shoes, my Birkenstocks and the aforementioned walking sandals. Literally comfiest shoes ever.

I love fitflops for holidays. I usually have a couple of leather pairs on the go. Last pair I had lasted nearly 10 years and went on numerous holidays as well as being worn for summers here in UK.

crackofdoom · 13/04/2026 17:02

Can you get Saltwaters that fit massively wide flipper like feet, or will I be falling back on knock off Birkenstock Gizas again this year?!

Vicliz24 · 13/04/2026 17:16

I use Birkenstocks and Fitflop for something a bit smarter. Between them that’s summer sorted . Though I do own a pair of Skechers sandals for lots of walking days .

hellswelshy · 13/04/2026 17:22

I love my midform Tevas, so comfy. But very tempted by the Gracie Fitflops now!

Shhhhhhhhhh24 · 13/04/2026 17:46

I agree with @Theringcycle and others, Saltwater softer soles swimmers etc are perfect. I had the standard flat soles for year and they lasted forever, I swapped for the softer soles and they have already done a lot of miles, still look great and are so comfy. Considering a second pair! Check sizing as UK differs , I think UK 5 is a saltwater 6 or something like that.

Plump82 · 13/04/2026 17:50

Tevas. I honestly can't say enough good things about them. I have 7 pairs and not one pair has ever hurt me. I have a couple of the slims (one pair are leather) which I think are nicer for the evening. I'm planning on getting the cream leather slims before my next holiday.

Trespass Kimbra

I had these last year and liked them so much as a holiday sandal that I’ve bought another pair for this summer.

They are very comfortable and practical for daytime and also looked nice with long skirts and cropped trousers in the evening

(Image added and will be under review)

I second these, may be a bit casual but they’re great and so comfy

Topbird29 · 13/04/2026 19:31

Trespass kimbra - have got them in black and brown. They are often in a sale somewhere for 50%. So comfy, can walk loads in them and look great with shorts and also dresses. Wore mine on a cruise last year for each evening.

ThePoshUns · 13/04/2026 20:52

Another vote for Tevas

Fraley · 13/04/2026 20:53

Throughly recommend Fitflops. I have numerous pairs of their sandals, all different styles, also boots & trainers, hardly wear anything else.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 13/04/2026 21:40

I have these in white. I was always a Birkenstock girl but they seem to have changed and no longer work fir me. These look a bit like the Mayaris but they're actually more comfortable and half the price!

I also have Marbella sandals from Mountain Warehouse. Walked for miles in them.

And of course FitFlops.

Dellaandthedealer · 13/04/2026 23:09

Another vote for FitFlop, I don’t wear any other brand. They are expensive, plenty available on Vinted though.

dreamlove · 13/04/2026 23:44

Agree with Skechers, so comfortable

YourOnMute · 14/04/2026 01:22

Tevas, I have two pairs of the midforms and they are so comfortable. You can walk all day in them.

Twilightstarbright · 14/04/2026 03:16

I have these from Hotter. I have RA and extensive joint problems and walked around DisneyWorld and Thailand in these no problem. Admittedly not the most stylish but I tend to pair with maxi dresses and the colour goes with everything.

I’ve ordered the Gracie flip flops on Vinted but I doubt I could handle Disney in them but are perfect for the evening.

This!!!! All my sandals are FitFlop

Birkies. I also have a nice Josef Siebel pair in gold. And Camper sandals in cream. Both support in different ways, Campers have straps as do JS. I find it’s a trial and error to find comfy sandals. My best friend swears by fitflops.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 14/04/2026 04:36

I also found wedge sandals preferably with thin leather strips at front part were comfy and ideal if you wanted a smarter option for eg meals out on holiday. Mine are vintage but you can find others.
