Can anyone help me find a special dress for dd aged 5 to wear to a wedding

She is not going to be a bridesmaid/flower girl but it is her first wedding and she is really excited. She is going to be there for the whole thing

I would like to get her something really lovely, she would like sparkly I think. She looks great in pink, cornflower blue, yellow, in fact most colours (she has blonde corkscrew curls, huge blue eyes and pinky cheeks!)

Anyone seen anything around?

What a lovely thread! I love it I love it I love it!!!!

It depends on your tastes really. I like little girls in retro clothes designed for children rather than scaled down adults clothes or v fashionable stuff.

If this is your style too... well... I can't think of a good enough excuse to buy my dd this dress that is so cute it makes me want to cry... SO Maybe you can buy it for your dd instead???

DD is wearing this Monsoon dress fr a wedding at the weekend. It looks beautiful on and the skirt is nice and full - essential for twirling on the dance floor I believe She has a matching headband and bag too. She also has a lovely pale green children's necklace, and a ppretty white sun hat (all from onsoon). And they look lovely with her pale white shoes or sandles.

She wore it recently to a christening and a wedding and both occasions we got lots of really nice comments about how it looked.

missblythe · 19/06/2008 21:25

Countess, make a decision, please!

Otherwise we'll all still be searching when the happy couple have their first dance!

teafortwo · 19/06/2008 21:44

I will try again to give you the tulip and nettle link....

teafortwo · 19/06/2008 21:47

HURRAY!!! I got it right that time!!!! Am very pleased... so.... CD have fun and do tell us what you and your little one choose. bfn!

stealthsquiggle · 20/06/2008 10:46

[Ahem]

Can I just point out that I went for that Joules dress ages before MissB and Enid.

CD you have to make a decision now and shut us all up put us all out of our misery

CountessDracula · 20/06/2008 11:44

Right
thanks
she has tried a couple of the joules dresses and they don't look right on her for some reason. They seem to be too bulky iykwim

Tulip and nettle one v cute but a bit too twee possibly, I would have to be mincing about in a meadow with a wicker basket dressed in white linen for her to wear that and I won't be!

I am going to take her up to R. Riley shop I think unless I find something in Richmond in a minute

stealthsquiggle · 20/06/2008 13:14

It's OK - it was the wrong shape anyway

CD - have you and DD got as far as Monsoon yet?

OMG, this is a dead ringer for a dress I wore at 2 and was passed down to all my sisters and cousins

CountessDracula · 20/06/2008 18:57

actually it is all very cupcake-bunting that site

Well i failed to find anyting

Jigsaw kids girls clothes are cute but they seem to have allowed for 5yos to have breasts which is a little odd

Rachel riley is always good for weddings it is what we used to do for dd.

She also had a staple wedding and party dress from their nibs

twinsetandpearls · 20/06/2008 20:03

dd had one similar to this but in a lilac/pink which she used to look stunning in, but I don;t think you want something that bridesmaidy

twinsetandpearls · 20/06/2008 20:06

I miss having a little girl who likes pretty dresses, she is all black now.

twinsetandpearls · 20/06/2008 20:10

THat monsoon one is lovely hula

twinsetandpearls · 20/06/2008 20:13

twinsetandpearls · 20/06/2008 20:14

twinsetandpearls · 20/06/2008 20:15

rather hideous but at aged 5 my dd would have thought this was a gift from heaven! Oh I miss those days,

CountessDracula · 20/06/2008 20:17
