Anyone seen any lovely wedding guest appropriate dresses in the shops?

Anyone seen any simple, pretty, NOT backless or strappy or super tight or frilly or dowdy dresses suitable for a wedding guest? Seems a real dearth at the moment. All I want is to wear a bra without it showing, and a simple, chic dress that isn't burgundy, black, brown khaki or otherwise sludge coloured!

Me and Em have some gorgeous dresses. Yes, they're expensive, but they're just so beautiful.

Agree, they have some lovely dresses.

I’m also trying to find a dress for a wedding, tried Whistles, Hobbs, John Lewis, Next & M&S, and can’t find a single one that makes me think ‘yep, perfect’.
So many floral dresses which aren’t me at all. Even had a look on Selfridges website but most looked like something that Eddie from Absolutely Fabulous would wear for £1400 🤣

I love that. I'm very tempted even though I don't have an occasion to wear it to.

There is some very odd photoshopping of models into odd locations on that Little Madam website - is it kosher???

Don't think so, looks well dodge

I notice you don’t give a budget, @Ionlymakejokestodistractmyself. So I guess a dozen or so people will waste their time offering fabulous suggestions, only for you to reveal you’ll only shop from your local M&S, and anything over £30 is laughably extravagant.

(That’s how threads with no stated budget always go …)

Haha I am happy to buy online, budget max £100 though so sadly that lovely Whistles dress is out!

Ok sorry I posted in a rush!

Size 10 (maybe an 8 in some brands)

5'6

Ideally no more than £100 which I know is limiting but even that is pushing it, have you seen the price of petrol?!

I would prefer lighter colours but nothing very pale, if that makes sense.

Wedding is next month so no idea of weather but wouldn't assume heatwave.

Decent legs and arms but I prefer to cover up.

Oh I'm VERY fussy about florals and frills too. Anything tiered, frilly and ditsy is a no. Hence the word simple in my OP! Maybe I'm fussier than I let on 🫣

Gd luck. I am struggling too. I am only 4ft 11 . A size 18 and all things aimed weddings seem long. Even petite. Have found a short skater dress but not that dressy but a fall back. Some nice suggestions in herë. Found a couple but really expensive.

Eiko ai for a very different take

That's nice but ditsy florals look mega frumpy on me 😩

Similar to the first one:

It is very flattering, very light and in the sale! I’ve bought it for an occasion and am very happy with it.

That’s nice!!

I've just been watching House of Games and off the back of it, bought myself this Boden dress that Amy Gledhill was wearing https://www.boden.com/products/women-rosie-godet-tea-dress-multi-diamond-stripe-d1020mil
looked much nicer on HOG than the Boden website!

Now that’s nice, especially at that price!

I just bought this for my brothers wedding in the summer. Adrianna Pappell - they have some lovely dresses and sell through Next, John Lewis etc.

This one is closer to your budget? Do you want something plain? Not sure if you're ruling all patterns out - or just florals - or just ditsy florals??!!!

It's not pale though. Do you mean pastels ie pale pink/yellow/blue/green??

What are you thinking re footwear/jacket etc - as April could be bloody Baltic/peeing it down?!!! Are you at the whole day?

Also quite like this grey Reiss one as it could look good with silver & navy. Too tight for you? Pale - but too sludgy?!!
