Jacket for summer dresses

Booked short break in Spain next week. Warm enough for dresses but want to take a jacket for evenings. Im 65 and have the usual blue denim one but get impression a bit dated. Any suggestions ? Would a cardigan be better?

woukd you consider it a cropped jacket? Was looking at this earlier?

I havent seen it in real life but that’s how it is described. It looks cropped to me. But I’m short so often things aren’t cropped enough.

Woolovers, so hardly high fashion, but I like the look of these jackets, especially as they don't have chest pockets. I don't particularly like chest pockets as I have quite large boobs and don't need any further endowment!

I know what you mean! So many great looking options. The suede and quilted suggestions are a bit different for me so will be trying some on.

Yea that's my sort of thing.

It depends what I'm wearing. It's why I have so many different jackets as each outfit seems to want something different.

I personally find that anything fitted up top wants a fitted jacket as I just spoil the proportions if I throw something loose over it.

Are pale pink denim jackets in or out?

I wear a Levi’s denim jacket if I need a jacket in the summer. I’ve worn one, not the same one!, since my teenage years and I’m 70.

Personally, I like this Whistles jersey jacket (several colours available) but I'm definitely not a fashionista so others may not agree!

I think the floral maxi, trainers, blue denim jacket is what people describe as dated.
But I've seen a lot of coloured denim jackets and they look great.
I have a white one, looks good with wide leg trousers.

I bought this jacket the other day for summer and I love it. I think it is styled horribly with the matching jeans, but it looks great with a dress

I will wear my Levi's denim jacket that I bought second hand when I was living in Paris in 1993 until the day I die. I was 19 then and it's still one of my all time most favourite things to wear and my DD will inherit it (it's even in our will!). If you love a denim jacket with a summer dress, just wear one! It's a timeless look and don't let current trends tell you otherwise.

I hope they're in, I saw a couple last summer and regret not buying them. I've been out today trying to find a dusky pink one, it will go with my summer dresses and white jeans (are white jeans in or out?)

I bought this the other day, it’s so soft (waiting for the image to appear..).

I’m taking my fitted denim jacket to Spain over Easter.

I agonised over it being ‘dated’, but these boxy jackets are so unflattering - they don’t even really look nice on the models imo. And denim is a neutral that goes with everything.

So sod it. If I’m dated and unfashionable so be it. I’ll still feel better than looking like I’m a matronly member of the Chinese communist party.

Little update. Tried every type on. Quilted not quite me. Bomber jackets everywhere were nice but not the fit. Bought a predictable cream denim jacket from Mango but it suits me. I really liked suede jackets but they were all a bit heavy so I'll trek out again this time to Oxford Street - suedette might be lighter. Also got brown / cream trainers to swap for my white ones. Did pull out my blue denim jacket and I still like it - minus the flowery maxis. So I feel my look is a bit refreshed. Thanks again for ideas.

I’m just waiting but for it to be warm enough to wear these jackets, instead of my winter coat!

So once again I've fallen for the mumsnet power of suggestion and bought a jacket - at least it's only vinted and cost less than £10 including fees & postage.

They look very short & shrunken? And like another poster, I think the pockets would not do my boobs any favours ...
