Can you help me with a stylish "layer" for cooler evenings on a European city break?

Going for a couple of nights, day time temp will be 18 hopefully but could be cooler and evenings will drop right down (going early April).going with new-ish partner and want to look half decent! I'm thinking dresses will be my friend as I can wear with trainers during day then dress up a bit with jewellery and different shoes at night...but dont want to spoil this by having to stick a jumper on top!
Am early 50s, size 10, pretty short, fairly "young" style...my dresses are t-shirty / long mainly from h&m , uniqlo etc.
Don't want to fall into mum uniform with trainers and denim jacket ..unless maybe with a lighter, more up to date styled one? Help!

@ElleintheWoodsI'd love to be a cool leather jacket girl...is it too late in life to become one?!

I have a lovely oxblood one and wear it at the age of 67.

Sorry I have no suggestions but am looking for almost the exact same thing and also want to buy almost all of these jackets. Thanks for asking the question, and have a great holiday!

Some of us wouldn't be seen dead in an oversized cardi or wrap.

I like & wear both chore jackets AND oversized cardies - though not in beige! Don't you ever wear big cosy angora/mohair cardigans in cold weather?

I don't dislike beige (I quite envy women who can wear head-to-toe creams & beiges & look elegant & minimalist), but beige looks shit on me & makes me look like a Rich Tea biscuit ...

Agree with a PP that in April North Italians likely to still be in their stylish feather jackets, but you might be uncomfortably warm in one. Do take the risk of rain seriously though. I hope you’ll be lucky, but there’s a reason all those picturesque N Italian cities have many kilometres of picturesque protective colonnades.
if you’re looking at variants on denim jacket theme, I just noticed a version which is actually a lightly quilted collarless bomber made of denim in Per Una.

Oh i think I saw that one! It's very nice!
Yeah sweaty brit in leather is not at all the same vibe as cool Italian 😅

Smile Beige and cream don't suit me and I'd get them looking dirty quickly.

I couldn't survive without my knitwear!! Is it a tactile thing that you aren't keen on?

An ex-boyfriend of mine once said that he thought all Irish women had a thing for cardigans. Can't speak for a nation, but my sister & mum are also big on their woollens!!!
