Please help me with false lashes

At the grand old age of 60 I've never applied false eyelashes! I want to start wearing them, but bought some little clusters and quick setting glue from Superdrug and couldn't get them in place at all! I suspect I'd do better with strips, but don't know which glue would be best.

Ideally I want something fairly natural looking and easy to apply! Can anyone recommend a brand?

I thought about booking in to have them done, but can't afford the upkeep!

Get the lashes that go UNDER your own lashes. Game changer.
Much less fiddly than the traditional method.
They are shorter so easier to apply, and come with a special bond and fix glue that does not budge.
Try Kiss Falscara - you can get this from Boots or Superdrug.

I've also used kits from Shein which are much cheaper.

Thank you. I didn't even know there were lashes that go under! I'll search for some ..

Cluster lashes that are already set out in order. A decent bond and seal two part glue, clean and curl your lashes then apply under them.

I've been doing this for a few years and they last about a week and cost about a tenner a month.

There's lots of videos online for application so good luck!

twilightcafe · 18/02/2026 14:53

Oh - and a magnifying mirror will make things much easier as well. Happy shopping!

HugoThatway · 18/02/2026 14:56

Please don't. Eyelashes are for keeping dust and sweat out of your eyes not for glueing things on.

These are fairly straightforward to apply under your lashes.

Pretty good glue that lasts quite a few days.

You'll need a pair of lash tweezer squeezy things, lash curler, magnifying mirror and a spoolie brush helps.

I often pritt-stick dried pasta and googly eyes and the inner tube of kitchen rolls to my eyelashes.
Am I doing it wrong? 🙄

I use Lola’s lashes, they’re pre glued and go under your natural lashes. They’re easy to apply after a bit of practice and mine last a week so no faffing every day. I’ve also used the half lashes that they do.

Do I have to use the clusters? It seems more complicated than a single strip.

You can get half strip pre glued ones that are easier to apply.

Sorry, can't find my phone as the bedazzled bog rolls stuck to my eyes are in the way!

I find clusters easier than strips. They can fit better to the natural curve of your eyelid, less chance of fucking up, can be more bespoke and natural.

Depending on cluster size, you can probably do them just as quickly. Plus you can't use strip ones as well under your lashes.

Doesn't the device you're on have a camera?

GloomyWednesday · 18/02/2026 15:18

Because I’m procrastinating whilst waiting for a meeting here’s my self-applied cluster lashes.
Took about 15 minutes to do and they’ll last about a week.

Facethesun · 18/02/2026 15:24

So when you say cluster lashes last about a week, do they start to loosen and you risk one falling off and sticking somewhere on your face it shouldn't be?! The lashes do look good in the photo.

How do you find sleeping in them? Do you sleep with an eye mask?

Here’s a subtle look I knocked up earlier.
Might add some copper piping and traffic cones to add a bit more sophistication 😂

For the best and most comfortable glue ons I recommend Lashify, but they are very expensive.

For pre-glued and I really like these because I have oily skin and oily everything so lashes do not stay on. As a result of my inability to keep lashes on I recommend the pre-glued Silly George lashes.
I purchased 3 packs of the cluster lashes for £89.
They are very easy to use.

Thanks! I'm a bit squinty as I had to take my specs off.

Yeah, if I'm not careful then after a few days I'll find an errant one sticking to me like an unwanted Hitler 'tache.

The good thing about the cheapo clusters is that I can normally replace it without having to totally redo them all. They don't tend to that for at least a good few days though.

blackreign · 18/02/2026 15:30

Lola’s lashes are my go to! I cannot do strips for the life of me and always seem to have a corner sticking out or into my eye.

lolas are pre glued and you can order the clamp on their website which I would recommend, it literally takes me 10 mins to do a full set now they’re so much easier than they look!

twilightcafe · 18/02/2026 15:24

I don't but it took me a bit to remember to be careful not to rub my eyes etc.

They're fine for sleeping in but I'm a side sleeper so if any do ping off it's normally during the night.

I don't tend to wear ginormous lashes so think that helps.

EvelynBeatrice · 18/02/2026 15:36

I’m intrigued by this. I have had very subtle lashes for an event added by beautician but doubt my ability to do myself as I’m pretty handless.

The ‘ under your own lashes’ ones - where does the glue go? I don’t even put eyeliner on inner rim as optician says is so bad to risk blocking. Does glue fit on outside edge eyelid ok? What is most hypoallergenic glue?

And what about mascara on own lashes and removing makeup at night? Doesn’t that remove the false lashes?
