What 3 things (not surgery) that have noticeably improved you skin?

I have so many cream and potions and I am a sucker for any new beauty product on the market. Half the time I'm not sure if any of it actually works but keep using it anyway. What 3 things would you say have actually improved your ageing skin? I religiously take collagen, but not sure if this is working and have started tret but forever have dry patches. I also wear sunscreen.

Washing it with a clean facecloth every night.
Aveeno oat gel moisturiser every night.
SPF 50 moisturiser every day.
HRT.

Okay that’s 4 but it’s working. Sometimes less is more.

Tretinoin
Cleansing with a flannel morning and night
Hydrating serum (ELF Holy Hydration at the moment)

Water, fruit and veg, protein, sleep, exercise also essential but I know you were asking about products / routine

Stop drinking alcohol, cut down sugar, sunscreen, sleep

Harrietsaunt · 18/02/2026 11:10

No alcohol
Loads of sleep
No men

bumphousebump · 18/02/2026 11:14

I'm menopausal - alcohol just makes my face puffy and red now - even just a glass.

Use moisturiser with sun screen

sleep.

fresh air.

a good diet.

But honestly - a holiday!!

I notice a difference in my skin when I don’t drink enough water. I always recommend Nip + Fab on these threads. For me personally it is the ceramide night cream that makes it feel different but I get so many compliments when I use the peptide finishing oil. So that would be my three!

This pretty much.

But if I can add one product on, it would be Hado Labo Super Hydrator.

JustMyView13 · 18/02/2026 11:33

Drinking more water. As a priority.

mynameiscalypso · 18/02/2026 11:36

Fresh air + exercise always help. In terms of products, I’ve been using the Medik8 liquid peptides since Christmas and I think that’s definitely making a difference.

Mixing Estee Lauder advance night repair serum into my moisturiser.

Really? That’s interesting. I am Double Wear’s biggest fan, but their skincare is like snake oil to me!

outerspacepotato · 18/02/2026 11:43

Retinol, sunscreen, and Vitamin C, definitely.

I use the Ordinary peptide serum and think it's not doing anything, but if I stop using it, my skin just doesn't look as good.

Joystir59 · 18/02/2026 11:45

Not smoking, not drinking much alcohol, drinking lots of water, not wearing makeup, not roasting my face in the sun.

Thundertoast · 18/02/2026 11:49

Drinking loads of water. People will come on here and be really snippy about how you get all your water from food etc, but that just doesnt explain how much better mine and my friends skin looks when we drink more water, sorry!
Using La Roche Posay Cicaplast as a night mask
Not eating chocolate - again, im sure people will come on and say there's no link but I have tracked it for years now and it definitely makes my skin go to shit!

Starlight1979 · 18/02/2026 11:50

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules (bedtime)
Hyaluronic acid mixed into moisturiser (morning)
2-3L of water a day

klimala · 18/02/2026 11:50

Prioritising sleep.
Cleanish diet (minimising UPFs, very little alcohol, having lots of healthy fats).
Being strict with my skin care regime (every morning and night and daily sun screen on face, neck and chest)

Overtheatlantic · 18/02/2026 11:50

Loads of water is the main thing for me
Monthly facial
ZO Hydration cream 2x a day

Wednesdaysotherchild · 18/02/2026 11:50

Meditation
hydration
sleep

LinedOverLatte · 18/02/2026 11:51

Prescription strength Tretinoin from Skin and Me or Dermatica if you’re in the UK - I’m certain my skin would be worse without it. They’re both subscription based and on-line assessment/prescription. Much higher strength than anything over the counter.

Water - loads and loads daily.

Sunscreen - 50spf but I’m very fair skinned.

If I can add a fourth - a decent, regular AM and PM routine of at least cleansing, serum and moisturiser and exfoliating once or twice.

Cocolapew · 18/02/2026 11:52

PDRN serum, face oil after moisturiser.
