Lipstick advice needed

I am after an everyday lipstick - I’m trying to make myself look a little more presentable as I have aged off a cliff this year and feel quite drab. I wear lipstick rarely and have a very old red Chanel lipstick that I bust out at Christmas ! I want a mid pink, that stays on, not glossy but not aging ‘grown up’ lipstick that will last the day. Is this achievable? Any brand recommendations? Thank you!
ps. Not at all bothered about price for the right one as it’s such a rare treat

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but I love the Black Honey/Pink Honey "almost lipstick" by Clinique.
It's a sheer lipstick, but you can build colour by re-applying

You should have some fun with the Virtual Try On option for Gucci lipsticks. It’s brilliantly accurate, and the lipsticks actually do their job, (I love mine) in addition to being irresistible artefacts:

You could look at the Nars ones that feel more like a lip balm but provide a nice colour. They come in metallic pink packaging but I can’t remember the name of the range.

Dogzlifeee · 17/02/2026 10:51

Bobbi brown extra colour shine is my go to! Goes on easily and very moisturising. I wear nude sugar daily but nude rose is more pinky

noclingfilm · 17/02/2026 10:53

Violette Bisou Balm in Rose Latte. Feels like lip balm, not shiny, stays on well. Nice soft pink on me, I’m pale.

nagnagnag · 17/02/2026 10:57

Don’t worry about it lasting all day - use sheer ones which are easy to reply, like Clinique chubby stick.

Tortephant · 17/02/2026 11:30

Lisa Eldridge are the best

Second this, although I don’t have Rose Latte, my favourite is Betise which is a very wearable berry red.

I’d also recommend Merit lipsticks. Archival is a lovely shade and they have a matching cream blush (if you’re in need of one!).

TheLongRider · 17/02/2026 11:52

If you absolutely want a lipstick that will last from dawn to dusk I can recommend the Kilo Milano Unlimited double touch. They're a liquid lipstick with a separate gloss. They don't dry out my lips and are very durable. They only come off with a oil based cleanser. Otherwise I second the recommendation of Lisa Eldridge's lipsticks.

Trying to recommend a colour is tricky because it depends on your skin tone and lip colour. The much vaunted Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk makes me look like a corpse because I have a warm base.

I like these and the No7 pro artist range have good dupes of them, neither range would last all day though.

I have an YSL lipstick that I love and also recommend Pat McGrath satinallure liptsticks.

I recently bought a Victoria Beckham one when I had a £10 off at Space NK and whilst it’s a nice colour, it wears off and leave my lips feeling very dry.

As a budget option BeautyPie lipsticks are good.

I have realised from writing all this that I love lipsticks too much (especially as I tend to buy very similar shades!)

TallulahBetty · 17/02/2026 11:59

Mac Brave - my all-time fave.

Anndalouzier · 17/02/2026 12:01

Go to code eight if you're near London and get one made. Omg the best

Anndalouzier · 17/02/2026 12:01

The sheer black honey is too sheer

CandiedPrincess · 17/02/2026 12:05

I've recently rediscovered Revlon lipsticks and they are so lovely, go on really well and have far much more staying power than my Charlotte Tilbury one's that I paid triple the price for 🙄

I like Daylight Delight or a more pinker one is Blushed.

Nitgel · 17/02/2026 12:08

Clinique black honey now do a lipliner but it still isn't long lasting. But its really lovely. For an everyday pink I use Mac Twig. As above the kiko range is good

Darklane · 17/02/2026 12:19

An old one but a good one, the reason it’s been a bestseller for years.is Max Factor Colour Elixir , wears really well with a finish you’re looking for. English Rose is a lovely mid pink but there are others

I'm loving the Refy lip blush at the moment. Soft and not drying AND available at SpaceNK. Failing that, always Lisa Eldridge.

TeaAndToastedCrumpets · 17/02/2026 12:38

Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick. Very pigmented, not as drying as other all day lipsticks and stays put even after eating a meal. Downside is that it requires some effort to remove.

CountFucula · 17/02/2026 17:32

This has been really helpful thank you all! I haven’t heard of some of these brands and will check them out - merit looks lovely

And code eight - great idea

Just go to a Mac counter tell them what you want and they’ll try loads on you. They last well and are quite reasonable.

MsMillyMollyMandy · 17/02/2026 17:41

I would second the Lisa Eldridge recommendation. There are several different finishes/ formulations.
I tend to find lipstick drying and uncomfortable but the shade Painterly is quite moisture rich but lasts well. Eloudie is more of a true balm formula. It’s lovely and shiny and makes lips feel shiny and plump but needs regular reapplication.

BeaLola · 17/02/2026 17:58

Lisa Eldridge - treated myself to the refillable I’ve and have different shades fot it

I also like the shade Sandwash pink by Bobbi Brown

MsMillyMollyMandy · 17/02/2026 18:52

Lisa Eldridge - treated myself to the refillable

Don’t wish to hijack the thread but is the EL
refillable easy to swap shades in and out of?

I was tempted to buy this as a gift I stupidly assumed that you would be stuck with the original shade choice until it ran out or you decided to discard it.

CountFucula · 19/02/2026 11:09

Lisa Eldridge looks perfect - never hear of her before so thank you!
