Boho/Alt Mother of Groom outfit

My DS is getting married the end of May. The wedding is going to be a relaxed barn/field/festival vibe.

I’m mid 60s size 12. My usual style is very casual and I like to feel a bit alternative without actually standing out and looking like a slightly bonkers ageing hippy.

Where might I start looking for something that fits this admittedly fairly narrow spec?

@Freda69 As mother of the groom?

I do take the point on budget but it’s low. Sometimes people need a nudge and think a bit more about style and quality, or we would all look very similar. Cutting down on something can usually provide extra money but obviously not seeing this as a special
purchase for a special day is a shame.

She’s said that £150 is the top of her budget. Perhaps you’d like her to cut down on paying her bills or eating for a while? Jeez.

How about wide silky palazzo pants, a toning silk cami, with a patterned duster over the top?

One Hundred Stars have some lovely ones on Vinted for a snip, then you could pick up the trousers and cami in one of the featured colours. You could wear it all again, the duster over a swimsuit or with shorts in the summer, trousers with a mohair jumpber in winter, cami loads of uses.

Hair up, big on the jewelry, peak mother of the bride boho glam in a field!

Crane Stone Palazzo Pants

The Crane, a symbol of happiness. This bold pattern with an exciting mix of colour is delightful. This clever colour palette of green, blue, and orange on the crane set off against the stone background will make the wearer smile. These versatile Crepe...

Thanks for this thread - some great ideas. I’ll be MOB soon so will be checking out these links as I like a similar boho vibe 🙏

I'm step mother. 57. Don't do dresses. This is my outfit. Apologies for the AI mock up. I don't look like this lady. And it won't be that bag. Something much softer, less structured.

I came here to say Roman as well - very affordable and the quality is usually much better than you might expect. You don't want anything too pricey if you're hanging around a field and sitting on a straw bale anyway. Sounds like it will be a lovely event - have fun!

I’d agree. If you get something from that there fits you well it’s actually usually decent quality. I’ve had a few beautiful dresses from them for weddings over the years, all different styles.

I know this isn’t boho but how about this if you get on ok with jumpsuits? It’s exactly your max budget would be ok in a field as trousers not skirt so if you have flat shoes to wear with it and a bag that’s all you need. I’d try to get as much as i could with my budget and something I can use again if I need to.

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie I quite like the Gudrun Sjoden layered looks - and particularly their colour palette. Equally there’s also some lovely Anthropologie dresses I’ve seen - this one has caught my eye

Not terribly keen on kaftan style dresses and I like a long midi length or a well above ankle maxi

I mean this helpfully but I don’t think this is at all wedding suitable, even if it is boho. I would really try and look for something that looks good quality.

One hundred stars has some wonderful dresses that are a bit different!!

Or this in their sale? Now I’ve found it this is my favourite out of the three I’ve posted. I’d definitely wear this if I had the right figure. Perfect for any age (I’m in my 50s ) and you can dress down afterwards and just wear it anywhere.

I’m tempted by this for an event I have.

That Alina Soleil dress is stunning!

You could look at this seller's stuff - seems to fit your bill! Been following her a while, she seems to get new stock regularly. I don't have any occasion to buy anything from her but I often browse! https://www.vinted.co.uk/member/57536659-sirenandthread

It's also an AI photo - what you receive will look nothing like that, just look at the price on the link.

@OhDear111

not everyone has the funds to buy “investment” pieces and quite frankly Farm Rio are an acquired taste. Higher end of high street is investment for many of us. I spent £130 on the dress I wore for DD’s wedding and that’s the most I’ve spent by double. There’s some great suggestions here at multiple price points but this op said £150 max

They always are. 🙁

I follow this lady on Facebook who orders them on purpose to see what shows up, and I'm sure I'd seen that one on her page so just went looking for it - this is what she got! (Sorry for a bit of a derail OP but just in case you were thinking of ordering that one!)

It’s wild, isn’t it?! Had exactly the same thing years ago for my kids prom outfit. If it wasn’t such a rip off for people, it would be quite funny.

Otherwise this is also nice, I really like it and at £90 that leaves you a good amount for shoes, bag and so on if you need them too.

That’s way to plain for a wedding
