How many pairs of pants do you have?

I have about 40ish and wash them all together once a month. I know this may be a bit odd but it feels weird to wash with the regular washing. Plus I want to make sure I use them all.

I saw a post on social media that said underwear should be replaced every 6 months which seems crazy unless you only have about 7 pairs.

I think I have about 14 pairs. They get washed once a week with my main wash. You really don’t need to be washing them separately.

No way am I replacing pants after 6 months. How wasteful and ridiculous

Hard agree! That nugget must have been dreamt up by the pants marketing board

VWT7 · 10/02/2026 21:50

134 pairs - I culled some recently

I actually rarely wear pants

During COVID started to feel they were unnecessarily restrictive

Sounds unhygienic. Do you wash trousers, jeans every day? What about bodily fluids, leakages etc ?

LucyLoo1972 · 10/02/2026 21:57

I have bloody loads becasue we have an awful hoarding habit in this house so not much gets thrown away as regularly as it should do.

ive been buying new ones recently to treat myself and I discovered Stripe and Stare which are made from tress and are the comfiest pants ive ever had. they just never get stuck up your bum. not cheap but good. ive always given up on underwired bras too.

I don't tend to wear trousers but also I don't leak that much... Hth

Chipsahoy · 10/02/2026 22:04

I wash mine every day. Washer goes on at least once a day. We all have clean undies in our house daily. I own about 50 pairs.. must cull them as have more coming from m and s this week… oops

All this talk of bacteria and festering: do people not wear panty liners?
Genuine question!

Lourdes12 · 10/02/2026 22:09

Not more than 10

Eyesopenwideawake · 10/02/2026 22:12

Two. One for the doctor and one for the leg waxer. I interchange them occasionally.

Changename12 · 10/02/2026 22:17

About 50. I wash them along with everything else. I take the old ones on holiday with me and then throw them away after they have been worn.

Cyclingmummy1 · 10/02/2026 22:18

A couple of dozen. I put the freshly washed (and ironed) ones at the bottom of the pile so they are worn roughly in rotation.

BobbieTables · 10/02/2026 22:19

I've got about a million. Some of them are nearly adults. I wash them with the normal wash.

No, I'd only use a panty liner if I was spotting, or if I was someone with heavy discharge that was staining them. Otherwise it seems a waste of money and bad for the environment.

FusionChefGeoff · 10/02/2026 22:21

I’ve very recently thrown out all my shitty old pants and replaced with 10 crisp pairs from M&S plus I have 3 thongs and 3 nude pants so 16 in total and they just get washed with everything else every couple of days

ImPamDoove · 10/02/2026 22:22

That is the weirdest thing I’ve read on here in weeks. You stockpile your worn knickers to wash once a month? WTH?

Please bring back laughing emoji 🤣🤣

Plinketyplonks · 10/02/2026 22:25

Prob about 9-10. Haven’t bought new knickers in several years. A while back I got a load from Kinky Knickers (they subsequently changed name) and they have lasted and lasted and lasted! So no need to replace.

Allseeingallknowing · 10/02/2026 22:28

Why is there a need to iron pants? You only need to smooth them. Your body heat “irons” creases out.

Never felt the need to have plastic backed pads clamped to my fanjo every day of the month, or to incur the expense or add to landfill waste.

Wr have pants, we have washing machines

Sgtmajormummy · 10/02/2026 22:30

I do three loads of washing per week and pants go in with the rest.
Critical mass is about 12 pairs Grin and if I go below I have to start on the unusual pairs which puts me in a bad mood!
