Find me a work laptop backpack

Frenchcremefraiche · 07/02/2026 09:33

I carry it for at least an hour a day and it weighs as much as a small family car.

Budget about £150 but would prefer under £100.

It needs:
Padded, comfy, non-fall down straps
Strong!
Flat base to stand it up.
A seperate laptop pocket/section
Outside water bottle holder.
Zip up outside pocket.
Pref waterproof but that isnt a deal breaker.
Not leather
Not overly work laptop carrier looking iyswim
No big logos/patterns
Not black or grey or brown coloured
Not look like I'm going for a hike!

I'm using a Nordace Sienna which is about the right size but the straps which were never great have gotten thin and twisted.

I also use a Roka rucksack but the straps are too thin to carry any weight.

Thank you!

I got mine from poppies and peonies https://poppyandpeonies.com/collections/i-backpacks-i

i had a knock one for ages but this one is much more fun. Not sure what material it is? Maybe fake leather? I also had an old lululemon one that fits your bill but it’s definitely a dark colour and a bit boring. I got the light blue one on the poppy and peonies site and I love it.

Not knock one - knomo one!

Danikm151 · 07/02/2026 10:19

I have one from amazon was £20 - it is black but you can get lots of colours. The thing is like a tardis but not too bulky

Thanks. It looks like the zip will take a lot if the weight and I dont know if any zip could cope with the weightt of my laptop! 🤣

Much cheaper than your budget but this was recommended on here. I've had it two years and love it. Two drinks holders, laptop section, pen holders etc. And very comfy cushioned straps.

I ordered a lot of rucksacks from John Lewis a few weeks ago, and this was the one I kept. I really liked that it had handles to carry it as a bag, as well as straps to have as a rucksack. Lots of different pockets. I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think?

Thank you. Unfortunately I really dont want black, the fascia is a bit bright for me and my coat is a sort of aqua blue colour so the colours arent suitable. 🤣 Such a stupid reason!

I see that one cone up a lot and a lot of people love it. It's not quite what I'm after but thank you.

Curious about what you go for, @Frenchcremefraiche as I’m looking for the exact same but needs to fit a rather bulky 16’’ laptop and so many only do the 15’’ size.

there’s a lovely lime green one from Bellroy but may clash with your coat. And spiral seems to have some brighter colours right now too

Themagicclaw · 07/02/2026 19:49

I have this and love it. It is very waterproof and holds everything I need. I have the bright purple. I tend to use it when travelling for work

I have the Antler one above in black and it's terrific. Very lightweight but holds a ton. The front flap zips all the way down and the laptop pocket on the back fits a lot. It comes in a very nice dark green and in navy as well as taupe and black.

Depending on where you live, I would spray it with waterproofing spray. It's water resistant but not really water proof.

EverybodysALebowski · 07/02/2026 19:52

Oh, and there are pockets on both sides, so easy to put an umbrella in one and your travel cup/water bottle in the other.

Sassy31 · 07/02/2026 19:53

LULU Guinness do a nice in a few different colours. I have in navy .

Kittylala · 07/02/2026 19:57

So a backpack then. Stop being dramamatic.

skkyelark · 07/02/2026 23:24

I really like Deuter rucksacks for both hillwalking and day to day. Would any of their 'lifestyle' line work (www.deuter.com/uk-en/shop/backpacks/c27994-lifestyle-backpacks)? We have an older version of the Stepout 22 as our general toting family stuff rucksack, but my work rucksack is actually one of their secondary aged school rucksacks because I'm fairly small with narrow shoulders and get a better fit that way, so if you're petite, that's another option.

I have quite a few every day bags from Mia Tui
i have the Quilted Dolly One in both sizes but they do others
I like them because they have lots of separate section both inside and out so you can easily find things and they aren’t expensive

I have a miatui Sydney too. Got the LITE one after a month or so as I found the other bag type is quite heavy in comparison. It's showerproof, not downpour proof. I take a Dakine one if the weather forecast is awful.

BogrollMcChips · 08/02/2026 07:36

I’ve got a Jansport school bag with a laptop compartment that I use as my work bag. It’s dark red, and has multiple zip compartments and pockets and an outside mesh drinks holder. It is also absolutely MASSIVE, though, so if you want something slimline it might not work for you.

Barrellturn · 08/02/2026 07:49

Have a look at nordace, Samsonite, kapten and son

UnilateralDecisions · 08/02/2026 07:58

I have a lovely Fjallraven Kanken laptop rucksack, but I appreciate they might not be to everyone’s taste. I actually love it, but only rarely get to use it.
