Best coverage for rosacea?

catchingzzzeds · 27/01/2026 21:28

Help! It’s getting worse, I’ve tried 2 different treatments from the GP but nothing seems to work so I’m now on a mission to live with it and cover it for work and nights out.
Currently using Clinique foundation but by lunchtime the redness is showing through, anyone found anything that will last the day?

Estee Lauder Double wear is brilliant

Unsure1012 · 27/01/2026 21:30

Charlotte tilbury flawless filter is good

LeoTimmyamdVi · 27/01/2026 21:31

I like Erborian CC redness cream. Sits really nicely on my skin and the green pigment that changes to your skin colour covers my redness really well. You can get smaller tester tubes to see how you get on with it.

JSMill · 27/01/2026 21:33

Rosalique was a game changer for me.

Unsure1012 · 27/01/2026 21:33

If finances allow, you should look into BBL laser. I had two sessions and then another laser called Clearsilk over the course of 12 months and it did wonders.

Destiny33 · 27/01/2026 21:33

I have a very red nose (you can guess my Christmas nick name 🙈) only thing I have ever found to work is bare minerals mineral foundation.

BlackCat14 · 27/01/2026 21:34

I suffered with rosacea and tried every expensive serum under the sun and nothing worked. I gave up and started using the Ordinary serum dupes from Primark that are about £4 and it has completely gone. I use No7 Beautifully Matte and that always covered it well!

Have you been for allergy patch testing? Id ask the GP for a referral.

for now avoid fragrance any common allergens in skincare and make up eg limonene, linalool, essential oils and so on

I hadn’t considered that- thank you!

also do some food research, I think (not certain) citrus fruit, milk and so on can make it worse

Hilbil212001 · 27/01/2026 21:58

I use Mac select cover up concealer

I can’t believe I haven’t considered this before, it’s definitely worse since I overhauled my diet. Lost a ton of weight but my skin is worse than ever. I’ll do some reading.

Agree. I had specialist advice for this when in South Korea and this was recommended. Also following a non inflammatory diet and managing stress

rocketmaaaan · 27/01/2026 22:56

For coverage, Estee Lauder doublewear maximum coverage. I wear it every day, I apply a moisturiser with SPF first.
For the rosacea, do you have pimples/pustules or just the redness? If you get the spots too, ask your GP for Soolantra. It contains the active ingredient ivermectin which kills off the demodex mite, found in much larger quantities on the skin of those with rosacea. It changed my life! I still have red complexion but the makeup covers it. Good luck.

suki1964 · 27/01/2026 23:12

Is it just the redness or you you have the lumps and bumps as well?

I have seb term which looks like rosacea and I finds Laura Geller double take foundation covers it beautifully.

But Im 62 with mature skin

Over the years - because I dont like liquid foundation Ive used mineral based powder. - bare minerals, Jane Iredale etc

I second this recommendation, also Dr Jart Tigergrass

SleafordSods · 28/01/2026 16:54

I had Rosacea for a long time and found Max Factor good.

The Rosecea did clear though. I had a tube of Soolantra and gave up dairy and it went.

AtIusvue · 28/01/2026 20:54

You need to find a treatment first for Rosecea, because texture is also an issue and covering it up can sometimes make it look worse. Redness itself isn’t a major problem.

what’s worked for me:

  • course of 3 months antibiotics….which from time to time have to go back on
  • I also use soolantra
  • miravaso for the redness
  • THEN once the skin has healed, look for a good moisturiser/cleanser for your skin. I couldn’t use these before as my skin was too sensitive
  • THEN, you can look at make up coverage.

I find Dr Jart so good. My redness was so bad last winter, I had two courses of treatment with dermatica and I found that really helpful too.

I used coldsore cream, stung bit went in 3 days after 2 years of suffering

Yes, go and get matched properly or it will look mask like. Use sparingly almost like a concealer with a buffer brush and it doesn't shift. Wonderful stuff.

Oddities1 · 30/01/2026 13:04

Interested in the fixes people are suggesting but like others I also wear estee Lauder double wear. I prefer putting it on in thin layers.

Glitter0 · 31/01/2026 02:31

Maybe look at foods that are causing you inflammation. For me, gluten was the culprit and as soon as I stopped that, my terrible rosacea went.

Lucia573 · 31/01/2026 07:47

I subscribed to Dermatica and the stuff they Prescott’s me sorted it out very quickly. It returns if I stop using though.

HolidayHappy123 · 31/01/2026 07:51

Have you tried Soolantra. I had rosacea for years amd it completely cleared it. It’s been gone for a couple of years now.
