For me

The French tuck
Massive flares (though I love 'normal' flares
Carrot leg jeans
Massive spidery lashes

Light-hearted, of course, we all have different tastes, these are just some of my 'No's.

Ridiculous baggy jeans don't get it think everyone lools bloody awful in them...

oldnormalplease · 24/01/2026 15:29

High waisted trousers. I find them very uncomfortable and wish that mid-rise ones would 'come back' or at least be easier to find.

MissHollyGolightly · 24/01/2026 15:32

Trainers with dresses and everything. I wear trainers for exercise. As it should be.
Worst look ever!!!!

Bimmering · 24/01/2026 15:35

Midi length skirts and dresses - I think it's a length that flatters no one and as a short woman in particular it's very hard to get it to look right

Trainers - I think they are fugly, fine for exercise but not for the rest of the time. I don't even do s them comfortable - I actually prefer a pair of leather shoes/boots, I don't like all the padding around my feet and I find them cold

Oversize everything. Another one that's hard to get right if you're short

WhatIsTheCharge · 24/01/2026 15:38

Low rise jeans.
i thought they died a death in 2008 🫣🫠
But no apparently they are back with a vengeance.
We’ve had babies since they were last in fashion…..high-rise have been a good friend to us 😂😂

CannotThinkOfAWittyNameChange · 24/01/2026 15:39

I’ll see you everything listed in the OP and I’ll raise you:

  • barrel-legged jeans / trousers
  • jogger bottoms worn with pointy leather shoes (look on the ASOS / Zara websites if you don’t believe me!)
  • smart blazers worn with above-mentioned jogger bottoms and extra minus points if they’re barrel-legged and/or worn with pointy leather flats
Floisme · 24/01/2026 15:41

I only feel like that if it's a trend that's hard to avoid e.g. I still dislike skinny jeans because they held such a stranglehold over the high street for years. Likewise uber low waisted jeans and trousers - I ended up wearing dresses for a few years to avoid them.

I don't like trainers but it's not a trend that bothers me because I can find alternatives.

Floisme · 24/01/2026 15:42

There are plenty of alternatives to things like barrel legs though so I really don't understand why some posters get so annoyed about them.

Overtheatlantic · 24/01/2026 15:43

Short blouses and jumpers and T-shirts. Ruffles. Uggs. Pasted down hair with a middle part.

I’m 5ft 8. I love a calf length. Most flattering length on my height.

Dont like maxis and don’t like minis. And really loathe knee length. Such an unflattering length.

JaneJeffer · 24/01/2026 15:48

Dropped shoulders on everything and why is everything so wide? Can we have normal looking garments back please.

Lowbuy2026 · 24/01/2026 16:03

I thought the french tuck had died a death?! (I'm not trendy, despite lurking on here so I could be mistaken. But there was a gen z thing saying we (millennials) were basic with our side partings and French tucks 🫠)

I am not a fan of athleisure - aside from at the gym. It's fine for those that like it, but I look like the love child of a bag lady and a synthetic sausage roll if I wear it anywhere other than running. I need clothes that help me- shape, fitted, etc. I won't be sad when it's over as a trend

Agreed. Also cannot abide the trends for wearing your sleeves too long to look 'cute', it's awful.

Oh I agree on the 'athleisure'. I get that it's comfortable but when I was a teen, you wouldn't be seen dead outside of the house in a pair of joggers, it was an absolute no unless you were running to the corner shop for milk.

I work in a school and at the school Christmas disco, kids were turning up in their pajama bottoms with massive sweatshirts. 🤣

I also can't abide the white socks over leggings thing, I saw that about 5 times this morning.

I don’t understand how the belts over blazer thing works. It looks nice, agreed, but how does it work in practical terms? At the venue you’re headed to you, say dinner at a restaurant, you take off your blazer but what do you do with the belt?! Stuff it in your bag? Hang it over the back of your chair?! And faffing about to belt up again when leaving?! Or do you just keep the blazer on and belted throughout?

MakemineaGandT · 24/01/2026 16:22

I also don’t understand very long trousers trailing on the ground and getting caught in your kitten heels/trodden on by trainers? Especially in wet weather. I love the look in theory, but I don’t understand it in practice. Unless you’re Victoria Beckham simply walking to your waiting car and from car immediately into venue.

Lifestooshort71 · 24/01/2026 16:35

My wide-legged jeans fit perfectly to under my bum and then flare. The backs finish a few cms above the floor and the fronts break in the right place. I never wear them if there's standing water but, apart from that, I love them.

BellyPork · 24/01/2026 16:39

Swimwear that exposes the buttocks.
No thank you, I don't want to see your bottom.

I literally have no idea what you are taking about and cannot picture this blazer/belt outfit!

Itstheyearitstarts · 24/01/2026 16:57

Arse munching leggings and puffer jackets with white sports socks. Just a whole world of wrong.

Violetparis · 24/01/2026 17:00

Puff sleeves, they spoil so many nice tops.

AddictedToTea · 24/01/2026 17:09

I love a French tuck. I still think it’s chic! I also love midi length skirts (but I’m 5’10 so that might help?)

I think white trainers with floral dresses is definitely over as a look.

I dislike sportswear on people not intending to do sport. Grown men having a ‘best’ tracksuit to go out for dinner in? Not for me!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 24/01/2026 17:16

Brown, everything has been sludge coloured for too long.

Thingamebobwotsit · 24/01/2026 17:59

Man made fabrics. Not really a style, I know, but have just been out shopping in the sales and virtually every shop was stocking rails and rails of polyester jumpers that just felt awful to touch, and trousers that looked plasticky. And everything was boxy or oversized. As a petite lady every outfit made me look like a bag of crisps.

Oh and dresses with tiers, frills and puffy sleeves.
