Nothing wide legged that can drag on the toilet floor 🤢 Plane loos are rank after a few hours.
Harem pants with tight ankes are the only sensible choice.

I always wear the M&S smart, straight leg joggers. Black with the olive green stripe down the outside seams. They're soft, slightly stretchy, have pockets and elasticated waist. Perfect.

I wear them with plain black leather FitFlop trainers and an olive green sweatshirt from Whistles. So I look vaguely put together, plus my carry on is a beautiful olive green tote from Beis.

Love these, cheers for sharing.

I'm flying to Australia for the third time next month. First time I wore warm leggings...perfect on the plane but felt pretty grim by the time we arrived.
Second time, wore cuffed cotton trousers... felt much fresher but a tad chilly on the plane and pretty crumpled when I arrived. This time... going in joggers. Realistically no one cares what anyone is wearing on a long haul flight!

Sweaty Betty yoga pants

I never wear trousers on a plane. I wear a loose maxi dress. Comfiest thing ever ☺️

Do you have some links for the OP (and me!)?

I have 3 pairs of these. Navy, black, and pin stripe. They are perfect.

@BorgQueen speaks sense, I get the toilet floor thing. I hoik the hem up to my knees before sitting down, or more accurately, hovering.

I have flown to Australia and back recently. Just comfy loose leggings, flight socks and warm woolly socks .Vest,T-shirt and fleece ,the temperature in the cabin can really vary ,so layers are your friend. Absolutely no one on the flight gives a shit what you are wearing. Pack your flight bag carefully with the essentials so you don’t have to try finding stuff in the locker.
A decent neck pillow is your friend.

Caspianberg · 21/01/2026 01:24

For any loose trousers, just tuck them into your
socks before your go to the loo on plane.

I should maybe start my own thread, but all of you suggesting cuffed joggers to the OP, can you recommend some smart one please?

ReaderInBath · 21/01/2026 01:38

I love these, but they are out of stock for the colour/length/size I want. Frustrating!

Count yourself lucky ReaderInBath. Saint and Sofia are a nightmare company. Getting a refund is an absolute nightmare if something doesnt fit. They try to fob you off with a store credit. Took weeks of wrangling to get a simple refund

I find Hush the best for these

Cazziebo · 21/01/2026 09:25

I bought these - for a flight to Thailand. They were fine for the flight but after one wash they were a baggy mess! Very poor quality.

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 21/01/2026 09:28

H&M always sell ankle length, elasticated waist, wide-legged soft trousers at around £19.99. I usually wear a neutral pair of those, nice white t shirt and a soft jumper. They’re soft, don’t really crease at all, and the hems don’t touch the floor (not what you want in a plane toilet, as PP says)

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 21/01/2026 09:30

Mint Velvet and Hush are flogging 'balloon trousers' as the new thing now - think they might be quite interesting for this.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 21/01/2026 10:09

I got some harem/leggings from tesco i wore to.marrakesh. Not haremy enough so the crotch wasnt around my knees, but loose, wide waistband, tapered to ankle and pockets. Quite thin too so wore them there.

Mosaic123 · 21/01/2026 11:09

Can I say, trousers that have some kind of of cuff at the ankle are absolutely the best. Or leggings.

Think of the wet floors in plane toilets. I don't think it's just water.....

noidea02 · 21/01/2026 11:20

So many brilliant suggestions!!

This. No one cares what you wear and for experienced travellers it’s all about comfort and utility. Flight socks are a must. Cuffed joggers and lots of layers.
