Do you wear make up every day?

I think I look better with makeup. I prefer the way my eyes look with a bit of eyeliner and it evens my complexion as I have some redness.

However, on days when I’m working from home the very most I’ll probably do is put on a bit of eyeliner and mascara. I only really put on a ‘full’ face if I’m going into work. Partly because I can’t bothered cleansing it all off properly at night.

But frequently if I’m out for a walk on a WFH day for example, I’ll see other people walking their dogs with full face of make-up on. Maybe I need to make more of an effort!

Yes I wear a little bit every day, even if working from home. I don’t mind popping to the supermarket or something without it but I find I feel embarrassed if I need to stop and chat to someone I know.

I find that I look awful with a lot of makeup and awful without any so a little bit to enhance what I have is the best bet.

isitmytime · 09/01/2026 01:38

I do, well 99% of the time. I don’t really leave the house without a full face of makeup up on and I work out of the house so once it’s on it stays until bedtime. The only time I wouldn’t wear anything was if I wasn’t going to be leaving the house/seeing anyone. DP is the only persons that really sees me without makeup up on, poor sod.
I just look and feel much better with it on cos I’m not very bonnie without it 🧌

Glitchymn1 · 09/01/2026 01:41

Yes, even if just tinted moisturiser, lip balm and a mascara. I always use factor 50 too. I feel better, more put together even if just at home.

Flatinbed · 09/01/2026 03:16

Yes. It makes me look and feel better.

SouthernNights59 · 09/01/2026 07:22

I never wear make-up, haven't worn it for years and hardly ever then.

tobee · 09/01/2026 16:21

No.

I enjoy the difference when I'm going out and make an effort.

On ordinary days I would like to wear a no makeup makeup look but I always think I look like something's missing; I've yet to master the technique.

I used to wear a full face of makeup every day to school. Probably because you weren't supposed to, although you didn't really get into trouble. I also thought it would help to attract the boys (lol). It was the 1980s and people went to town on makeup then.

Placestogo · 09/01/2026 17:41

No make up if i stay home.
if i see a friend ir go to work: foundation, eyeliner, mascara nothing g more

During lockdown I got out of the habit after daily make up for decades. It didn't make me feel better, just looked tired and old. Now, I like a little bit of coverage everyday, despite wfh and not leaving the house most days. I wear perfume, a bit of make up and have swishy shiny hair every day just for me.

muddyford · 09/01/2026 17:58

I hav recently discovered tinted brow gel which has revolutionised my look. That and perfume is about it. Occasional lipstick.

scottishGirl · 09/01/2026 18:00

Nope .never wear it to work. Only wear it if I'm going out with friends in an evening or my partner.

If that's true, that's very sad @ClaudiaWrinklemum

Edited

Why?
My moisturiser is on my dressing table with my makeup. Once I wash my face and sit down to moisturise, I tend to just keep going out of habit. Nobody is going to see me, it just makes me feel better.
definitely not sad 😁

Thank you! I will ask about soolantra. I saw a dermatologist last year but what they prescribed hasn't helped at all.

I will go back to either the derm or maybe try my GP. Lovely to hear a success story as I feel pretty despairing at the mo!

If you do get Soolantra you will be told to use it once a day but I use it morning and evening basically after washing my face. My husband is a GP and he said that's fine.😀

GameOfJones · 10/01/2026 07:38

Yes, every day without fail. As an absolute minimum I wear a tinted moisturiser, mascara and tinted lip balm which takes all of sixty seconds to apply. Usually I'll also wear some eyeliner, blush and a bit of powder to take away shine and then my routine is maybe up to 3 minutes.

I enjoy finding products that feel good to use and make me feel good. It is my few minutes of self care so always have clean hair, a bit of makeup on and a spritz of perfume. Then I'm ready to face the day even if just doing the school run or going to the supermarket.

Floisme · 10/01/2026 07:51

No, it doesn’t interest me. Also now I’ve adjusted, I don’t like how a full face of make up looks on me .

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 10/01/2026 08:11

Yep. Every single day. I feel rotten without it and not fully dressed. I also shower and wash my hair every day. It’s just part of my routine. My make up is quite minimal though. I wear concealer, bare minerals powder, eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow stick on my eyes, mascara, blusher and lippy when I’m going out the door or tinted Vaseline indoors. It takes less than 5 minutes.

WhoamItoday11 · 10/01/2026 08:25

Yes if I'm working, even from home. I do lots of video calls so want to look decent. Weekends not so much, it depends what I am doing. If I don't have any plans, no. If I am planning to go out, yes.

Clonakilla · 10/01/2026 08:35

Yes. I wear concealer,
foundation, blusher, mascara and a tinted lip balm.

Several times I have had people describe me as someone who ‘doesn’t wear makeup’.

Gettingbysomehow · 10/01/2026 08:42

Ive worn .makeup everyday since I was 16. Im 64 now. Wow that's 48 years! I have good skin though so I don't wear foundation or blusher unless Im going out but I always do my eyes. I couldn't stand having my skin covered all the time but I do use a good skin cream every day. Always have.

I wouldn’t really worry what others are doing, just do what makes you happy or can be arsed with! At my work, only a few women wear make up, the majority don’t bother (I’m very jealous as I also look rubbish without it!!).

Whilst I appreciate the kind sentiment behind these posts they are really really unhelpful…

Why do just about all posts on this board have one of the following responses:

  • as long as you’re happy that’s all that matters
  • doesnt matter what anyone else thinks
  • if you like it then that’s all that counts

PS I wear something just about every day although my full face is quite minimal. Love a tinted moisturizer, some cream blush and mascara otherwise I look like a blind mole.

Proudofitbabe · 10/01/2026 09:19

Yes, very rare I wouldn’t wear it. It’s just part of my daily routine. Feel much more confident and dressed wearing makeup, which doesn’t need to be heavy.

Well I find them helpful, and we all appreciate things differently. I don’t find it helpful when people ask what’s fashionable and they get a reply saying ‘just wear what you like’ as that’s not answering the question. This statement was very different as she was actively comparing herself to others. I think it’s good to remember that most people don’t really care or notice things that much, they’re too busy with their lives, let alone notice and judge harshly for it.

Do you notice people that do or don’t wear make up and negatively judge them for it? Also some people’s idea of minimal/maximal make up will vary wildly. For example I wouldn’t say tinted moisturiser, blusher, and mascara was minimal, but we all perceive things differently.

Your post literally said ‘just do what makes you happy’

So helpful.

I'd ideally curl my lashes and wear mascara every day but I've got really dry eyes at the moment, I assume because of winter, ac, heating etc so my eyes are quite watery and irritated. I don't wear foundation anymore as tret has sorted out most my skin issues.
