I don't think there is any styling tbh

Tomatocutwithazigzagedge · 04/01/2026 13:44

What's the band OP?

Nice 🙄

Long glam kind of skirt and trainers or boots, knot the tee at your waist, leather or denim jacket 👌

I see posts on Pinterest I try to copy but end up looking ridiculous 😂

Thankyou 😊 Daft question but how do you tie a t shirt?

CMOTDibbler · 04/01/2026 14:20

I redo the neckline as I don't like crew necks on me, shorten and tighten the sleeves, then wear over a long sleeved body or under an open shirt. I'm currently changing one tee to have long sleeves with a mesh insert but haven't finished that yet.
What isn't working for you on the styling? If you don't like tucking the tee into your jeans, then try experimenting with the length of it by pinning it up and in at the sides - shortening is so easy as you can just cut it and you can snip and tie at the sides to change the shape without sewing

Bigearringsbigsmile · 04/01/2026 14:27

I genuinely wasn't being snarky.

I think if you are willowy waif then a band t shirt tied up at the waist can look nice but I was imagining the op as looking like me- size 20 with big boobs and a standard crew neck t shirt is never going to look anything other that shit.

The cut and the neckline make me look massive quite frankly and weirdly butch.

I don't think there is any stying it away from that.
Apologies op if you don't have these issues with t shirts!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 04/01/2026 14:30

Don't you need skinny black jeans, converse, lots of black eyeliner and nails and an extremely sideswept fringe for that?

😄

Have just found this . Is is the kind of thing you mean?

Wide leg jeans, Converse and knitted tank top
Long denim skirt , Converse or boots and chunky cardigan
sheer style long skirt, Converse or boots and leather jacket

MetallicMushroom · 04/01/2026 14:42

I always slash the neck of my band t-shirts.

I'm a size 20 with disproportionately smaller boobs, opening up the neckline (lots of ways to do this without sewing) just google to find a style you like.

If you don't like jeans, a denim skirt would look good too.

If it helps, you could buy a couple of basic men's crew neck t shirts from tesco or similar to experiment before you go cutting up your favourite band tee!

WorthySloth · 04/01/2026 14:51

I wear mine with jeans mostly. I’m a sucker for a band tee 🤣🤣 especially from up and coming artists 😊 it’s my summer wardrobe for work with shorts.

I’m 56 size 14 for context. Saving up for Metallica merch in the summer 🤣🤣

MCR 😀

Then I'd style untucked over black skinnies with your DMs and layer over either a tartan/plaid shirt, and a leather jacket, or you could tie a plaid shirt around your waist. Also could look good with a lightweight khaki jacket with a slight drawstring to the waist?

Yoy could also wear tucked in with high waist wide leg jeans in grey with a thick studded belt to give a waistline effect, and again layer over a leather jacket or a denim shirt?

And swap out your DM laces for red ones of course! 😀

I love a band t .. I like mine with a tartan skirt and docs but I also think they look great with really feminine skirt with ditsy prints and sneakers/docs/solvair

Yorkshirelass04 · 04/01/2026 16:46

Have a look at the styling on Little Lies. They have plenty of band t shirts and their models are often curvy. I have their black velvet stretchy flares.

You sound like a wizard! 😃 Jeans tucked in only exaggerate my stomach and there is no need for it 😂

Any advice on alterations?

I didn't think you were being snarky at all 😊 I'd love to be able to just throw a tee and some bright trousers on and look cool but sadly, it doesn't work 😂

I think once past the age of 21 you don’t “style” a band t-shirt, they very much style you.

Short skirt and a thick woolly cardigan in winter! With wide leg jeans in the summer. I find crew neck t shirts awkward too and I have loads of them.

CMOTDibbler · 04/01/2026 17:46

@DriveVerySlowlyPastNumber23IWantThemToSeeMyHat not a wizard at all! There’s an insta account called Merch Mod who has no/ minimal sew stuff as well as the more complicated re dos, and having always hacked necklines she inspired me to do more.
For you, I’d think that bringing the t shirt in at the bottom and up might be a start. If you have an elastic belt or just a long piece of elastic, try putting it on at the roundest part of your tummy under the tee, then tuck the t shirt bottom up into that so it is shorter but comes into you. Experiment with the height and see if you are happier with it. If you like the effect, it would be super simple to sew a wide hem with elastic in.
Or if you want shape side to side, try some safety pins in the side seams to give yourself a waist, then you can sew a new side seam in that shape.
Also, try rolling the sleeves up as they can be a really tricky length with a bigger bust as you get a visually wider effect at the wrong place. This is why an overshirt can make everything look better too as you create a slim vertical contrast

WorthySloth · 05/01/2026 17:57

Right then following this thread I have sorted my wardrobe and counted my band tees. 24 🤣🤣

I have a pair of barrel leg jeans which I normally wear them with but I’ve picked up a pair of slim ankle grazer jeans in a really dark wash. Shoes will be DM boots or adidas campus trainers and I will either wear my faded denim jacket or a black casual fit blazer. I will try tucking them in at the front.

next purchase will be a mini skirt of some description as I have amazing legs 😁

thank you OP you have inspired me!
