Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

Rein in. I hate autocorrect.

CheeseonToast2026 · 04/02/2026 18:37

My entire order is going back Sad

Jersey skirt snall
Looked like it had been owned by someone else for 4 years, poor,quality faded already and fluff in the pockets, I ordered a small and it was pouffy on my size 12 hips

Paisley Dress small
Simultaneously too small and too big
It has a batwing sleeve and despite being a 32FF and slim arms it pulled over the bust and sleeves
Hips were very pouffy, didnt like the wide belt
Print ok but nothing amazing

Crinkle top and trousers small
The top was ok but the fabric for the top/ trousers was a slightly different shade
The trousers fit me nicely on the bum/ hips but the waist nearly cut off my circulation it was so tight.
I have a small waist

Very disappointing

That’s disappointing @CheeseonToast2026

Thank you for the full review. So disappointing when one has stared at the website for far too long then finally pressed the go button.
No idea what the right emoji is -
A passive aggressive thanks
A disappointing support for your uncurrenttoast like shape
A love that could be read multiple ways - more in the sale, weirdly love your disappointment, much love because of your disappointment.

We need a 'meh' shrug, for disappointing orders, poor collections, random pattern cutting and plastic fabrics.

ScallopShellWalk · 04/02/2026 19:26

@CheeseonToast2026 shame nothing fitted well. That’s the difficulty. In a shop you could ask for another size or another style, until you find something you like. But home delivery it can fall flat or worse, you convince yourself it fits - (me stumbling along in clogs too small or massively big but trying to see if they just might. 🤡 ) Funnily enough I’ve been in a toast shop twice and they always bring me more than one size. No wonder though.
But disappointing when you have to return it all. Maybe you’ll find something else.

TheBogPeople · 04/02/2026 19:45

Does any one else think the ‘pantry textiles’ theme is a bit…strange? When people were saying blue and red thungs were arriving I thought ‘oh, nautical’.

But no. I’m not really getting a ‘pantry’ theme either though, somehow…

TosstTastic · 04/02/2026 19:57

Pantry?

@TosstTastic 😂

Stoic123 · 04/02/2026 20:08

Kindred has to be awarded on spend (perhaps with volume, full priced vs sales items and reviews submitted criteria). Anecdotally, a lot of people seem to get offered it soon after paying for a post pass but that just may be a correlation with heavy buying.

I was invited to join Kindred the January after starting to buy Toast - I had really splurged very heavily in that 1st year. I have continued buying a lot since but this dropped in 2025 and can see it falling off a cliff in 2026. Every bed is now kitted out in Toast linen/quilts, I have festoons of baubles and do I really need more than 21 Toast dresses?

To give Toast credit, their stuff has lasted well and, after lots of mistakes (no Stoic, you really don't suit jumpsuits however many times you try), I've settled down with a wardrobe I enjoy.

The point I genuinely start to live their sustainability message ('garments deserve long lives') will probably be the point I also stop being 'a valued member of their community'.

Stoic123 · 04/02/2026 20:09

@TosstTastic - fabulous 😂

ScallopShellWalk · 04/02/2026 20:17

@Stoic123 Exactly!

@Stoic123 This is where I’m at. I want to be a part of the toast community and lifestyle that they create so well, supported by the toast clothes I have for a while. Being kicked out of the toast community because I cannot justify continuing to spend £3000 a year each and every year doesn’t sit well with me.

Saurus72 · 04/02/2026 20:18

@TheBogPeople The pantry theme is super weird! Why do I want to wear something looking like a tea towel! Bizarre.

@CheeseonToast2026 What a disappointment, boo.

I am v annoyed about losing Kindred because I feel like I’ve had my wrists slapped. Naughty Saurus not spending enough - but it’s c.£800 last year! I will in theory miss early sale access - however, over the past couple of years I’ve barely spent anything in the sale because I’m generally leaning towards buying what I actually really want full price, instead of lots of things that have been reduced but that I don’t really need. (I have had shopaholic tendencies in the past and have spent a huge amount because bargains, but have found over the past 6+ years that generally avoiding sales - apart from boots and sandals weirdly - is generally better for my finances). My wardrobe is full of Toast and I guess I’ve started to buy less as it all feels a bit samey. I have a LOT of Bryn dresses…

I will for sure still shop at Toast, but usually IRL because it’s easier to take a c.30 mile trip to Cambridge to try on a few things and to be able to compare sizes.

Anyhoo, that’s enough of my ramblings!

TheBogPeople · 04/02/2026 20:29

Shirts inspired by Chef’s jackets. Sorry, the designers have done a good job - its the brief I don’t get.

Saurus72 · 04/02/2026 20:29

I thought I’d stopped but apparently not! The other thing to add is that I have a pretty healthy clothes/accessories budget but am finding it increasingly difficult to spend it with Toast (which, for a long time, has been my default). If they made more clothes that were a fresh, flattering, interesting addition then I would buy them - but I don’t generally find that at the moment.

@Stoic123 - yes, we also have beautiful (stunning quality, I don’t say that lightly) Toast bed linen, but we have it now and all being well won’t need any more for years - it’s very luxurious and stands up perfectly to washing/drying. So in some ways the sustainable angle works well.

ScallopShellWalk · 04/02/2026 20:34

I was in Edin today and about 5 mins from the toast shop but had no time and didn’t want to drag my other half there again. But I could not stop thinking about the vespertine floral bandana. On Sunday I was in the shop and I asked to see the silk bandana and she brought me this one, though I had meant the still life one but oh my I couldn’t get over how lovely this bronze one was. It was so much nicer than it looks online, I couldn’t stop looking at it. The lady then brought me the still life one, I stared but couldn’t see it as I was still trying to figure out if the bronze one would fit in with what I wanted from the scarf. It’s a silk cotton mix and I wanted pure silk so I didn’t buy either. I wanted to go in today and buy the bronze, anyway, I’ve now ordered it online. I think it’s really lovely.

TheBogPeople · 04/02/2026 20:40

@Saurus72 I agree. The couple of years I did spend 3 grand with them it was because I loved it all. This last season I really didn’t want any of it apart from the cream Kantha top but by the time I’d got over the price of it I didn’t want even that, that much.

Summer is looking the same. The pantry / kitchen theme is very unclear, and the clothes, I have to say, professionally designed but unattractive, especially the chef’s jacket blouses and the prints. Some things look quite tired, even on the models.

At least they still make Annies but I’m so annoyed I’ll be managing with the couple of old pairs I’ve got for now.

I don’t have any Toast homeware although I do like the bedspreads and handmade pottery, my homeware pretty much all needs to be cheapish and machine washable living on a Scottish farm!

Countmeout · 04/02/2026 21:05

I think there’s a dullness to things this last while. I don’t think it’s even just ‘safe’ .
colours always were a bit off centre but there were many things often coveted. Now it seems a bit sludgy. The skirts are particularly sl

It seems to have taken a direction that is different.

I thought the pantry theme might be slightly Italian , and the lemons dress that we’ve glimpsed might suggest that but a great deal else is dull dull dull atm. Droopy is another words that comes to mind.

Countmeout · 04/02/2026 21:07

Sludgy the skirts are sludgy and the bright blue one is just like the elasticated one I bought last year so obviously I’m not going to buy another.

Saurus72 · 04/02/2026 21:21

@Countmeout a lemons dress you say..? 🧐

Countmeout · 04/02/2026 21:24

@Saurus72 it was in an email . I posted a picture of it upthread after someone mentioned it. Looked summery at least.

Countmeout · 04/02/2026 21:28

page 26 @Saurus72

TheBogPeople · 04/02/2026 23:14

I actually think a Pantry theme could work, for example I’m sewing these at the moment and they look quite kitchen-y. (its not going well as they’re designed to only work on very slim figures) and love the ‘tea towel’ fabric in the picture that sadly I can’t get hold of anywhere.

I think Toast should have leaned into Apron style more for this collection. Which is odd as they’re usually not afraid of an Apron dress or ten.

Big love to all those newly de-Kindred-ed 💗.
We'll need to add some extra sofas to the rejected, impoverished, or is it thoughtful, intentional, minimal spending corner 😇😆.

I lost mine a few years back, and was expressive at the time, so just to briefly add to all your excellent comments with a direct challenge to Toast.

For those people buying fewer items because they simply cannot afford to, then Kindred becomes all the more important. The free Post Pass makes individual small purchases possible without adding extra postage costs (but which still require careful planning and saving for); and the early sale access offers first dibs at discounted prices to those who simply cannot afford to buy otherwise. Those who've already spend hundreds or thousands full price really don't need any more privileges either perk. Some would like to able to gift Kindred to friends, if Toast persists in being stingy.

This would be the ethical, equitable, redistributative view, were Toast genuinely interested in such things. Kindred is named to suggest family, connection, shared values; but to Toast that apparently means a stratified community which privileges those who can spend lots of money. Not so much changing the world as entrenching the status quo. I think most of us realise that Toast's self-trumpeted conscience is all marketing bollocks in the name of greater profits for itself. Do better, please, Toast.

Stravaig · 04/02/2026 23:46

Christi Anna Lomas now make all the old Cabbages designs on a made to order (they call it bespoke but it isn’t) basis for around the same price they always were

@TheBogPeople Thank you for this; I can now rekindle my perennial if shoogly hope of some day striding the world in one of their gorgeous coats :)
