Best ever boots !

Whatacraptimeofyear · 30/12/2025 23:05

I have just noticed these boots on sale .

I have these , they were closer to £200 when I purchased them. I got them about 5 years ago .

They still look brand new. They are a staple. I wear them most days in autumn / winter as they go with everything - skirts , dresses, skinny jeans , trousers . They are quite high, but they’re comfy. I am quite heavy footed and notice that a lot of heels I wear do then to wear easily , but these haven’t. They honestly do not have a single mark on them.

I just thought I would share. I never spend that much on shoes for myself and I remember getting them and justifying to myself that I would wear them all the time but knowing deep down it was just because they were beautiful and I got them on Klarna because I couldn’t bring myself to shell out £200 at once! But , they ended up being one of the best purchases I’ve ever made !

It’s not that they’re heels that is dated - there are many pairs of gorgeous heels out there that feel very “current” if that is what you are after.

These are a classic of the skinny jean and chunky knit genre. Would pair nice with a MK tote and infinity scarf. Sorry.

How funny, most heels I’m seeing are paired with mid-length skirts. Skinnies are beloved of the dogwalkers who wear them tucked in their wellies.

Mayhe you’ve just hit a style rut?

Silverwhining · 04/01/2026 14:36

Those are so impractical, dangerous on the ice, not good for plantar fasciitis and likely not comfortable

2026IsMyYear · 04/01/2026 14:38

I'm sorry op - these also feel v dated to me & i can't inagine any occassion i'd wear them to.

I'm mid 50s & i love boots & am not against heels overall (though i rarely wear) but these are old fashioned to me.

You’ve misunderstood me (or are attempting and failing to be weirdly passive aggressive…)

there are lots of lovely boots out there to be paired with midi skirts or shorts. I’m seeing gorgeous pointy kitten heels, flat riding boots and sharper cleaner lines

these particular boots though are not lovely. They belong in 2010

Robogob · 04/01/2026 16:13

They’d be better if they didn’t have that awful ridged sole. Either do chunky or don’t. But a smooth, dressy boot with that sole is terrible.

Having said that, I’d take them over the long dress with white trainers and denim jacket ghastliness any day. Even though I wouldn’t be able to walk in them.

Failedcrunchymum · 04/01/2026 19:44

I used to love a good pair of boots. Arthritis in my feet has ended that but I'm happy that you're happy, you've reminded me of what it felt like to find footwear that I loved for how it looked and not just for comfort!

ad this thread took me yo HOF website. I looked at the other boots in the sale. Found a pair I liked but I’m hate paying delivery charges so found them else where and ended up buying 3 pairs of boots. So thanks for that OP 😂😂😂

🤣🤣🤣 you’re welcome !

I would just like to point out that I didn’t ask for an opinion on them . I like them. They’re a bargain now , so thought I would share.

To feel the need to criticise someone’s fashion choices - especially saying they’re dated etc - just because you don’t like them, or because you believe that people should only wear what is “fashionable” gives off a real ‘mean girl’ energy.

Yes, high boots and skinny jeans were a 2016 phase. Just because it’s not now what people follow , because they prefer to follow trends - doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with it.

I absolutely do not care what others think of my fashion choices. I love the 2000’s style- i regularly rock bootcut jeans and skinny jeans because I feel good in them. Same as these boots. I don’t like strappy shoes , I have a massive collection of stilettos - again, dated. Sometimes I like things that are ‘in’ now and if I do , I’ll buy it , if I don’t then I won’t. I think some of the fashion that’s about now is horrendous but I would never comment on that to someone because people can dress however they want.

It’s like those tik tok videos , filming older women wearing summer dresses , trainers and denim jackets … laughing about it being the uniform of Middle aged women. Those women probably bought those outfits for an event and felt good leaving the house wearing them . Why do people feel the need to bring others down?

Everyone who commented something bad , you could have just looked and decided you don’t like them and gone on with your day. Some people are really affected by the opinions of others and this could have made the conscious of wearing something they previously loved .

I do not care though and love my dated boots ❤️

I'm not usually on S&B but this was in active and I was also surprised by the cattiness from all the apparent style merchants in this thread.

Style is intensely personal so slagging other people's choices unasked makes them sound a bit like sad sacks and possibly a bit thick.

DancingNotDrowning · 04/01/2026 21:03

@Whatacraptimeofyear I’m sorry if you were upset by my comments.

However if you don’t want people to provide their thoughts on your boots, it’s probably best to avoid posting them on the internet either the title “best boots ever” that’s how threads work 🤷‍♀️

I’m not upset at all. I am just shocked at how people felt the need to comment things like that. It shouldn’t be expected that people will comment because it’s on a forum because , really , there is absolutely no need.

It’s not an AIBU. Yes someone could read it and think “ they’re not the best boots ever in my opinion “ but do they really need to ? Do they need to add in catty comments ?

Like I say, it genuinely doesn’t bother me at all . But I am saddened at how bitchy people can be.

You’re so right!

No matter what someone wears , how they do their make up, how they wear their hair - they looked in the mirror and were happy. They purchased those clothes , shoes etc because they liked them. What gives someone the right to put them down just because they don’t like it and why on earth would you want to do that ? Makes me sad x

I think you’re confusing “people putting you down” and someone simply not sharing your enthusiasm for your purchase. I commented on the boots, not on you.

On the style and beauty board people discuss style, including likes and dislikes and if you say something is the “best ever” it’s not unreasonable for people to share a contrary opinion. That’s not a personal attack.

Funny posters trying to defend their cattiness. The OP did NOT ask for opinions, and just because she posted saying she loved these boots and others might like them, did not necessitate a bit of a pile on. The OP should have been able to post this without any cattiness, and it's sad that you think just because she posted on an online forum, she should accept it. Don't like em, move on. there is zero need to make any negative comments whatsoever.

pictoosh · 05/01/2026 16:11

I'll offer a genuine apology - I said they were too high for casual use and too heavy for dressy up. Was just my opinion, sorry if it was negative.
I don't care about them being dated, I still wear skinnies and long boots as well and as far as I'm concerned, bootcut is forever. Love them too. I don't care what's current in fashion whatsoever. Agree with everything you said.

Beautitul · 05/01/2026 18:20

I really don't like when boots have elastic panel, it reminds me of when I struggled to fit my calves in boots and boots would be made wider to fit wide calves like that with those panels.. and it's a cheap trick to save up on leather. The instep is probably fine for the people with high in step, you know those feet that are so highly arched they look like Barbie feet.

I spent £1000 on a pair of fendi boots!

Oh...are they lovely? Worth it? I have Legres boots........exquisite. I have a little jolt of pleasure every time I put then on, but don't wear them every day.

Whatacraptimeofyear · 05/01/2026 20:12

Oh wow!!

I have just realised I made a mistake ! The boots I posted are not the right ones !

Someone just commented about an elastic panel , and I thought “ they don’t have an elastic panel ?!” The ones I posted are similar but not mine !

These are mine: https://www.debenhams.com/product/dune-london-sky-leather-knee-high-boots_p-c9f33354-ada4-48d7-85d1-ca75ac88c22a?srsltid=AfmBOoqnKxvl_tfELprhBrYVuUWRC-coso_xdIBGvuyf8kmKvl51d9Dv&colour=Black

Even cheaper now…. But all sold out 🤣 by the looks of it not even made anymore … so , a pointless post in the end 🤣

sorry !

An opinion on why you wouldn’t wear them isn’t being catty at all !

Bootleg is definitely forever! I’ll be rocking them when I’m 80 ! 🤣

@Whatacraptimeofyear The ones you've just posted, your actual boots are WAY nicer (still too high for me but much nicer boots)

Great bargain too - there may be returns so of anyone is interested it's worth keeping an eye out

Beautitul · 05/01/2026 22:32

Your (corrected) boots are so much nicer! A classic pair and the leather looks gorgeous. Dune is a good brand for boots.

WhitePudding · 05/01/2026 23:48

Oh the right ones are gorgeous. I’d be wobbling like a fat giraffe in them but they are beautiful.
