They're a total bargain and I've tried them on- they're comfy enough, but something doesn't look quite right and I can't work out what it is. £17.99 for leather boots though!

I don't know what is either - they kind of look out of proportion but I don't know why?! But total bargain... I want the Dani boots in the sale now too...

Smallorveryfaraway · 30/12/2025 21:42

The toe is too long and pointy

Do you have a link? I had a little look but couldn't find them. I think the other pp is right about them being too long and pointy.

I think its the trousers that spoil them as they're lovely boots and a real bargain.

I can't see them anymore - oh bother, maybe they were running out of stock. Yes it might well be that. A bit winkle picker-ish?

LifeBeginsToday · 30/12/2025 21:56

When I was in Schuh in the summer a lady working in there told me their own brand shoes are cheap for a reason and wouldn't even last a term.

That's it! yes, they do remind me of winkle pickers. Shame about the Dani's!

I wonder if they’re tricky to get on…especially having been reduced so steeply with a good stock of sizes still available

That's interesting. I did have a really good inspection on these and I thought they were reasonably well made - and I have some nice quality shoes but I guess the proof is in the wear. I'm so heavy footed though, I destroy everything!

They weren't too difficult as the side is quite stretchy. But there's definitely something putting people off.

I agree with @goudacheese, they look totally wrong with those jeans. These are the style of boots that are recommended to balance out wide leg trousers.

evilharpy · 30/12/2025 22:17

I actually bought these! They were £22.99 a few weeks ago so have been reduced further since then. I can't decide whether to keep them but am leaning towards returning. They are just SO long, and I'm a 7 so have pretty big feet already. They do feel pretty flimsy too, I wouldn't expect to be looking after them and getting them reheeled and resoled year after year.

fiorentina · 30/12/2025 22:31

I think the toe and elastic has a slight western style but the heel doesn’t match. Having said that for the money I think they’d be good with a slimmer fitting jean than in the picture so I’d probably keep them if within your budget.

Well, you've got a year to return them! I had to ask the chap in the shop if it was correct because i've never heard of a year return policy. He even said, as long as they're not too bashed up, you should be fine 😂

I once saw a pair of stunning, supreme quality boots reduced to pennies in Benetton. I rushed in to try them on and I couldn't get my foot into them. They'd been made so that no normal foot (ie one including bones!) could possibly get round the bend. The shop assistant said it was like Cinderella, watching all these women troop in only to be betrayed by their own anatomy.

Based on my own experience of working in retail… I strongly suspect she just wanted to upsell you a much more expensive shoe by one of the named brands that they stock.

I get what you mean . I think it’s that they’re a kitten heel style , but it’s not a kitten heel? Like if the heels were thinner they would look ok but with a chunkier heel they don’t look right ?

Crispynoodle · 30/12/2025 23:15

omg I just bought 2 pairs of boots 😬 oops! I did get some bargain adidas before Xmas from them so feel like they are trustworthy

Crispynoodle · 30/12/2025 23:16

On the ones you want I watched a trend report and they are bang on trend for 2026

k1233 · 30/12/2025 23:35

The whole balance of the shoe is off. The heel is wrong and runs in under - it would feel off to walk on. The toe is super long and pointy. You'll look like you're walking around in flippers.

If the heel was a chunk fom where the top edge joins the shoe down, the visual weight would balance the length of the toe, plus it would feel significantly better to walk in. As it is, the heel seems to disappear.

I'm tempted by them to go under my wide leg work trousers! How high is the heel?

GreywackeJ · 30/12/2025 23:46

Horrid and dated.

What would you consider a current look for black boots out of interest?
