Just ordered them so asking opinions.

Are these boots old fashioned?

What do you mean by old fashioned and does it bother you if someone said theyare?

I think there are some much much nicer and better funky ankle boots around personally, if that answers your question.

NewYearNewMee · 27/12/2025 21:27

I do think they’re quite old fashioned, they’re the sort of boots that seem to favour functionality rather than current fashions? They’re not quite classics either, so in that slight in between area.

Alexadidzammomarryjackie · 27/12/2025 21:28

My feet would refuse to leave the house wearing them, but as long as you like them, that's all that matters.

Calliopespa · 27/12/2025 21:28

To me they look chosen for comfort and stability, possibly by someone more advanced in years or a busy mum with little ones to catch at the park, but I don't think they are a bad choice if those were the criteria.

If you are 25 and childless, then yes, possibly you could have gone more "now."

EmeraldRoulette · 27/12/2025 21:29

I have something incredibly similar
Same brand

I bought them because they're really good for walks, especially if there's loads of wet leaves and puddles around. There's a woodland walk I do regularly and it tends to have some watery patches that are hard to navigate. I didn't want to get wellies just for that. But these, if it's the same material, water basically rolls off them. And the soles are really thick.

I didn't buy them look nice, but it's not a problem if I pop to the shops after the walk.

They are really comfortable so you can do a few miles in them.

basically, I didn't buy them to go out in, I wouldn't go to work in them and I wouldn't go to a bar or restaurant in them. I bought them specifically for this walk which I'm trying to do on as many days as possible.

RosesAndHellebores · 27/12/2025 21:29

Yes I do, but absolutely brilliant when it's snowy and icy. Therefore they have utility style and class.

twiddlingthumbs69 · 27/12/2025 21:29

I think I’m just feeling my age and lost perspective. Years ago I’d have run a mile from them but now I just see comfy, they’ve got zips on the other side for ease of access so another win with my back.

SilenceInside · 27/12/2025 21:29

If you’ve bought them then presumably you like them? Whether anyone else thinks they look old fashioned is irrelevant if they’re what you want and are happy with.

Calliopespa · 27/12/2025 21:31

Is that a yes then?!😂

ByMintLion · 27/12/2025 23:06

They are practical, not fashionable. The question is whats more important?

cockandbullstories · 27/12/2025 23:38

Here's similar from Celtic and Co. I think you do need to think of the purpose of them. It also depends partly on what you wear them with I think !

Edited

How advanced in years?

My DM is in her early nineties and would absolutely refuse to wear them …

@EmeraldRoulette I have a similar meadow / woodland walk that I try to do as often as possible - but it’s in the middle of a city, so I often step from the walk into a cinema / gallery / restaurant. I don’t think the OP’s boots would meet my needs at all.

OP wouldn’t it be more helpful to seek opinions (if they matter to you) before placing an order?

BusterGonad · 28/12/2025 02:06

They are not attractive at all. They are definitely boots that 'do the job', they also remind me of the slipper bootie things that old people wear around the house. The Celtic ones have a bit of style about them but I expect they are £££.

patooties · 28/12/2025 02:12

They are the kind of thing I’d buy my 84 year old mum to take the bins out. Where do you think you might wear them? I’m into ‘ugly’ shoes and practical shoes - they are awful.

Darklane · 28/12/2025 07:53

They look comfortable & warm which, to me,is the main criteria for boots. I have back (spine) issues too. An added bonus if they’re easy to get on.
What’s the point of fashion when freezing & slippy outside with a good chance of falling. To my eyes some of the so called fashionable clumpy styles are more ugly

PodMom · 28/12/2025 07:59

I don’t even think they’re practical. Suede type material boots are not much good in the rain and would get mud all over them and on the fur trim.

PodMom · 28/12/2025 08:01

I got these recently for some warm, practical dog walking type boots. I think they might be a bit more “with it”, not that I was looking for anything particularly fashionable. They’re very comfy.

Owly11 · 28/12/2025 08:10

They are ugly and unfashionable. Keep looking - there are plenty of nicer boots that combine comfort and style.

EnterQueene · 28/12/2025 08:14

I don't think those boots are meant to be fashionable - they are designed for comfort not style.

GingerbreadSkinnyLatte · 28/12/2025 08:14

What would everyone suggest instead? What are they to be used for?

Or perhaps you've gained perspective? By that I don't mean that comfort and practicality are the only considerations, particularly as this is S&B, but surely where winter boots are concerned those should be important ones?
I don't think they're fashionable but I certainly don't think they look at all bad or embarrassing. I like them and would definitely wear them.

FollowSpot · 28/12/2025 09:32

They look really comfy, warm and practical.

So probably!

I do think they have a charm about them.

Echobelly · 28/12/2025 09:35

They're not 'old fashioned' but I would associate this style with the over 70s. And there's not necessarily anything wrong with that. I'm 48 and I've found myself a few times lately going for boring but practical walking shoes over funkier ones when I decided I just wanted to be more comfortable.

twiddlingthumbs69 · 28/12/2025 11:35

Update: they’ve arrived. I love them, they’re warm, comfy easy to get on and look good with kick flare jeans. Wouldn’t wear them with skinnies or straights. I do a lot of walking etc so they are fit for purpose.
