for someone not very good at applying make up

Laura Mercier
Chanel Vitalumiere

wasabipeanut · 10/06/2008 22:08

Bobbi Brown

JackieNo · 10/06/2008 22:08

some sort of tinted moisturiser - bobbi brown always gets good mentions here.

JackieNo · 10/06/2008 22:09

(I rest my case)

expatinscotland · 10/06/2008 22:09

Depends on your skin.

Chanel Vitalumiere is NOT good for oily or combination skin, but apparently brilliant for dry skin.

mollysawally · 10/06/2008 22:17

Is bobbi brown suitable for all skin types?

OP posts:
cornsilk · 10/06/2008 22:18

I've not got dry skin and I use vitalumiere - put a primer or clarins beauty flash balm underneath it.

JackieNo · 10/06/2008 22:20

I think there's probably something for all skin types at Bobbi Brown. What sort of skin do you have?

mamamamama · 10/06/2008 22:20

I use Vitalumiere and I have dry skin. There are different Bobbi Brown ones to suit different skin types.

wasabipeanut · 10/06/2008 22:21

Don't know about all skin types but I have dry skin and the Bobbi Brown luminous moisturizing foundaiton makes it look all nice a dewey - a lot of foundations sink into any drier bits and make me look quite scary.

Have heard good things about Laura Mercier also.

flipflopper · 10/06/2008 22:32

No7 intelligent cover is really good and is easy to use

mollysawally · 10/06/2008 23:51

I think I have combination skin.

Serious make up fiend here,I really like

bobbi brown foundation stick
chanel lumiere
no 7 intelligent cover

bobbi brown stuff is great for people with red/ruddy complexions as they are yellow based which evens out the redness

ggirl - Do use them all at once. I'm very niave when it comes to make up?

Do you put conceler of foundation on first?

OP posts:
brimfull · 11/06/2008 08:47

no not all at once lol
blimey i would be a sight!

I put foundation or tinted moisturiser on first, only in the places I need it,mainly my t-zone,then I use no7 instant radiance under my eyes as a concealer/highlighter.Then I put a bit of eyeliner on and mascara, finally some cream blusher.

At the moment I am wearing a clarins tinted cream with spf20 and nowt else.

2loudboys · 11/06/2008 11:46

Do try expensive foundations before you buy - Bobbi Brown, Chanel & Mac foundations all bring me out in lumps!! No lumps from Benefit, No. 7 & Origins. Becca is brilliant but not widely available (more's the pity).

mollysawally · 11/06/2008 11:52

Ok, thanks for the advice. I've jjust got to be brave enough to go and ask for samples now!

I'll let you know which one I choose, thanks everyone

clinique- I swear by it- currently using their anti-aging ( cos I'm ancient) but my daughter uses some of the light cover/no oil ones- super balanced is good- they have about 10 different formulas for diff skins.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 11/06/2008 20:43

Another vote for Chanel - matt, though. I find the shimmering type only accentuate the wrinkles (and make you look a bit WAGesque)

chocolatespiders · 11/06/2008 20:50

I use chanel - double perfection. for combination skin

Mavornia · 12/06/2008 09:11

since I've been horribly ignored on my own thread (the one where I wanted to know your best Desert Island beauty products...) I'd thought I'd join in this one

girlnextdoor, I love Clinique too

I'm not a huge fan of the rest of their range but they do the best foundations

I wore Superfit for my wedding (40 degrees heat in summer in Egypt) and it didn't budge but still felt like my skin could breathe

JackieNo · 12/06/2008 15:36

Yes - agree Mavornia - CLinique makeup definitely better than their skincare. Although I like their pore minimiser stuff - especially the Instant Perfector - I can wear that instead of foundation it works so well.
