Best lip balm you’ve ever tried?

I’ve tried so many, nothing seems to be sorting out my dry lips. I’m pregnant and can’t breathe through my nose properly which I think is the cause! Can any recommend the holy grail of lip balms? I don’t mind spending ££ if it helps!!

Lanolips

Nivea. The blue tube. Super moisturising

PeonyPatch · 16/12/2025 17:31

LANIEGE

Pineapples123 · 16/12/2025 17:48

I like the hyaluronic acid one from Superdrug- dead cheap!

tedibear · 16/12/2025 17:52

Dr pawpaw the yellow tube. It’s only £3-£4 and it so lovely and helps so much with dry lips. Although gd old Vaseline put on thick before bed will help too.

Blarn · 16/12/2025 17:55

Lanolips - anything that is lanolin sorts out my dry lips which sometimes have eczema around them too.

Unfortunately the Nuxe one which is usually listed as the holy grail of lipbalms makes my lips sore. I was gutted! Use it as a cuticle cream instead.

Marylou2 · 16/12/2025 17:56

i've tried everything from Creme de la Mer to Vaseline and my favourite is Summer Fridays Vanilla. Always have an Elizabeth Arden 8 hour creme on the go too. Multi purpose and heals any burns and soreness.

mumof5five · 16/12/2025 17:58

Blistex ointment in the white tube with the red lid is the only lip product that has truly ever worked on my lips. It's like magic but it stings a bit and smells strong.

Grinchybinchy · 16/12/2025 17:59

by Terry Baume De Rose Lip Care is my holy grail if I’m splurging. 28 pounds on Debenhams atm, but it has to be the one in the little glass pot and lasts forever. Also good for cuticles and little dry patches of skin 😊 the Nuxe very rose lip balm is a great lower priced dupe

Chain bridge farm lip balm
Someone mentioned it on a Harry and meghan thread and I bought 2 small tins
I went back once they'd gone and bought the big pots
They saved my lips this year-i wear some on my way to work
I have the yellow, pink and purple pots-ill never use anything else now

Their handcream is amazing too but I found the peppermint foot cream is a bit crap

Decorhate · 16/12/2025 18:06

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm in a tin. Have only ever found it at airports though.

HaveYouFedTheFish · 16/12/2025 18:16

I use plain Shea butter - anything with paraffin or scents, colour or almost any additive initially makes my lips look better but actually rapidly dries them out more and more, so has to be applied incredibly frequently and they still get worse...

Plain Shea butter tastes slightly unpleasant but I only need to use it once in the evening and once in the morning and that's it.

ResusciAnnie · 16/12/2025 18:18

Whack some Lansinoh on them.

Love 8 hr cream personally but is £££ to use as a lip balm! The smell is lush.

WaneyEdge · 16/12/2025 18:21

Radial Stem Cell Glam Balm was the best I have ever used. Of course, they discontinued it. 😢

Following with interest as I’ve found nothing to replace it. Most just sort of sit on top of the skin and then the dry bits just sort of clump together.

I always find this whatever the product. I’ll use it, think it’s great, buy more of it to find it no longer works so well.

The Laniege ones are about the best of the bunch. I can’t use the purple one though. I do also use the white blistex in the metal tube.

Never understood the hype around 8 hour cream or the lip version. Didn’t work for me at all.

Mrswhiskers87 · 16/12/2025 18:26

@Badsanta12 my lips once got terribly sunburnt and were totally cracked for weeks. The only thing that sorted them out was Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream (not the lip balm she does). It’s 20 odd quid a tube but it will last at least 6 months as a tiny bit goes a long way and it’s honestly magic. I also use it for spots, cuts, dry skin and to keep my eyebrows and even flyaway hair in place. Honestly it’s MAGIC. My whole family refer to it as magic cream.

Dr Lipp Nipple Balm is the absolute best

Could you get it out in the office, though 😂

Yeah totally fine as a tiny tube, though my son (19) was horrified when i gave him it to use 🤪

Their tinted ones are fab too.

Which magazine rates Blistex med plus as top

unsync · 16/12/2025 19:14

Very £££ now but Sisley Nutriitive Lip Balm. The pot lasts years as you only need a smear of it and it doesnt come off regardless of eating or drinking. It's the only thing that works when I get chapped lips. I pick it up duty free at the airport now.

Domino45 · 16/12/2025 19:35

The best I’ve tried is Clinique moisture surge lip balm. It’s fragrance free and still there in the morning. But it is £££ and the tube is small.

Another goodie is Ole Henriksen lip balm, especially the new vanilla scent. It’s thick and lasts well. But gives a glossy lip balm look. If you’re sensitive to fragrance they might be too much, as they do have a stronger smelling scent.

TheGodOfSmallPotatoes · 16/12/2025 19:39

Oh yes ole henriksen is lovely too! Good shout
