I’ve ordered a perfume stocking for me and my friend.
I’ll now have about 1004 perfumes 😳

I was asking the question - didn’t mean to do a smoke without fire comment! I thought I read it on here. They’re owned by Unilever and we had a chat about the big brands etc. I will try to find the post.

@Doglover73 Sorry to hear about your dog, I hope it’s a speedy recovery from here ❤️‍🩹

@JoRaRaRa I hope yours is doing okay too.

Mine is getting extra cuddles, these posts are reminding me of when she had her op 🐶

In beauty news, I opened one of my Space NK parcels today (containing my HG palette and KS goat milk cleanser) and noticed a £10 voucher in there, as I’d signed up with a different email address to get a discount. I’m kicking myself as it says it’s valid for 1 month, I ordered early December but I didn’t bother opening the parcel properly as I wasn’t going to use the contents yet 🙈

Could you not contact them and say you'd bought as a gift. I do find their customer service better than cult and lf. Good luck. Annoying. 🥰

BakeOffRewatch · 16/01/2026 19:14

OvaHere · 11/01/2026 22:34

I used to use it semi regularly about 15+ years ago. Just a moisturiser as I was very low maintenance with young skin and young kids (imagine!!! 😂).

I did first try it at a salon and I bought the face cream once or twice a year as a treat. In between I'm not sure what I used - something low cost from the supermarket, Olay or whatever was on offer. It was my first introduction into realising better stuff was out there than what was on the shelf at Asda but I couldn't buy it often and internet shopping wasn't quite what it is now.

Ah it was @Hicupping ’s post here, and yes was conjecture about Dermalogica having seen the full sizes becoming common in edits. Sorry for misinforming Blush https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5459827-beauty-chat-freebiesgifts-with-purchaseoffers-thread-seven?reply=149801878

Oh yeah! I was going to start on the valmont cream when I'd finished my AB rich cream, I forgot and went onto my sample of the AB soothing cream instead 🤦🏻‍♀️ oh well, it's only 7ml so it won't last long.

I did mention a few pages back that it was odd we were suddenly getting some big full sizes in quite a few edits when previously as a brand they didn't seem to do that. So maybe an indication they've not had the best year for sales. I was just guessing though.

The Valmont cream is nice but I don't love it. It has a lovely rich, buttery texture but I don't find it has lasting hydration for my dry skin in the way my favourites do.

I've been using it at night (but I'm not sure if it's meant to be a night cream) but can still feel a bit parched by the morning. If I try to use more of it to compensate it does pill a bit so I don't think you're meant to use a thick layer.

Obviously I was never going to buy this so happy to not totally love it but I will use it up.

I think there's a limit as to how much it's worth spending on a moisturiser. Everyone has a different threshold obviously but the market for this must be a tiny number of people.

My ceiling I think is AB Rich Cream when discounted and preferably with a few vouchers to go towards it - so around the £200 mark and not much more. Said with the acknowledgement that some people would think that was insane. Luckily with so many being in AC's and edits plus other discounts I've not paid near to the RRP so far.

I've also really loved the Lancome Renergie Cream which is cheaper again than AB (but not cheap!) so if there comes a time when I can't get AB discounted I will think about moving that to top spot.

Gosh. That was a lot of blathering about moisturiser wasn't it? 😂

@OvaHere i think it’s interesting that out of all the k-beauty you’ve tried they aren’t featured in your top moisturiser discussion - I thought k-beauty would be top for hydration. Not from experience, just from the hype

I've not tried loads of k beauty moisturisers. I've tried more essences and serums. In my somewhat limited experience and based on research korean beauty isn't very big on rich moisturisers as it leans towards multiple, lighter layers.

I rate the Laneige Cica Sleep Mask though which is basically a moisturiser but I do use it as an overnight mask on top of earlier skincare.

I have some in the stash that are supposed to be richer than the average for k beauty so I'll report back sometime in the next millennium when their turn arrives. 😁

OP posts:
JoRaRaRa · 16/01/2026 22:31

I like the talk of moisturisers. I'm nosey, so I'm always interested in people's loves, likes, dislikes as well as their routines and spending habits 🤣

I usually try to get moisturisers on offer or in an edit, I'm not particularly loyal to one brand, but if I ever do run out and need something desperately, I usually go back to no7 and pick up something there, but I don't love them, so I tend to search for something else and then ditch the no7 halfway through. I have so much in my stash now though, I don't think I'll run out for a few years 🤭

My favourite moisturisers are clé de peau (daytime) and also ab the rich cream. The clé de peau one is too expensive for me to rebuy, but I do try to get an ab rich cream every year for winter, even if it's just a 15ml for the coldest months when my skin is the driest. I also like the eve lom moisturisers, but tend to wait until I can get them at tkmaxx or on offer somewhere else. I'm hoping I like the Medik8 night cream so that can become my go to.

JoRaRaRa · 16/01/2026 22:32

@OvaHere is the Lancome Renergie Cream in the holiday box? I really need to go through it.

IlovePond · 17/01/2026 00:16

I’m disappointed with the Boots Future Renewal bundle I bought during a special offer a while back. I was hoping I would like it, but the day cream isn’t at all moisturising and leaves a kind of sticky residue on my skin. I am using it up by putting it on my neck when I remember. The serum isn’t doing anything for me, either and sadly there’s a night cream to use up too🙀

I also got an eye serum from the same range. I am not sure it’s doing any good, but it feels ok on the skin unlike the other stuff.

I was really hoping this range would be a good substitute for the more pricy stuff I usually use, but it’s not to be!

IlovePond · 17/01/2026 00:22

I’ve been doing well on my beauty no-spend since 1/1, but cracked yesterday and got two of the CB stockings to put away for next Christmas. I went through TCB as the FIRST15 code was working for me too and was valid on that c/b site.

I am going to use one as a Xmas present, so don’t feel too bad about it.

I bought a heavily reduced hair mask too, but I sort of count that as essential spending!

I don't think I've bought anything since the 'bargain' Elemis BAC. I know that was only around a week ago and it was quite a big slip from my stated new year goal but that's still impressive going for me especially with all the extra sale reductions. I've put quite a few things in baskets this week but not pulled the trigger on anything.

My Beautylish box should arrive any day now. I've been watching some unboxings and there's some stuff I'd love and some I would definitely be meh about. Hope it's not a bad one but if it is I guess that will teach me not to blind buy.

Thanks for the stocking tip! I’ve just ordered as I love the fugazzi vanilla haze so much! It has surprised me as I’m never bothered about fruity or vanilla scents usually. It’s just gorgeous.

Anyone buying cult beauty, the nect day delivery is amazing for £3.45! Twice I've ordered very late at night and it arrived nect day. Once around midnight and it was in my hands by 10am!

I agree with this. I bought my Patrick ta blushers at 12:30am when they were released and had them by 10am. I also used the code BDCB for 20% off, added a Patrick ta sculpting brush to get the £15 voucher.
