@OvaHere , do you group a few minis together for sale on Vinted or sell individually? I have loads and have put a few together as little sets, but don't seem to be having much luck with them, so maybe selling individually for pennies may be better.

More expensive brands I bundle together if I have a few of the same or similar brand.

Otherwise I put a load in a box and list it for around £25 -30 then take offers. When I've done this previously they can take a while to go but do eventually usually via an offer of about £10 less than I listed for.

I list higher than the price I expect to get but my main goal is to get rid. The reason I don't list at the price I actually will take is to set expectations and to stop people massively low balling.

Does anyone have the Philips Lumea, is it worth it?

I'd love to help out with the answer to this as I have one. The bad news is it's been sat unopened in the bottom of my wardrobe for about a decade. 😂

Maybe it's great. Who knows? Not me rather embarrassingly.

Send it to me, I’ll open it for you 😂😂

on a serious note - I’ve been looking at buying one for years but never pulled the trigger and can’t afford one now, other things take priority now 😪😫

JPMJuliz · 27/12/2025 20:57

No beauty buys for me recently but I did get two stackable dumbbells for Vinted tonight, my offer was accepted surprisingly, looking forward to use them on my “off gym” days ☺️

Yes and yes! Over time I have zapped everything that needed zapping and now I need to use it maybe 3 or 4 times a year.

TeamToeBeans · 27/12/2025 21:08

I have the Lumea, but have only had it 2-3 months. I have only used it on underarms and bikini area, underarms definitely showing vastly reduced hair growth. Bikini not so much, but I wonder if I need to set it on a higher setting. The thing I find difficult is you’re supposed do it after shaving, so it’s impossible to know if you’ve missed bits.

(I do plan to do my legs too, when I get around to it.)

Yes, this exactly - I think it’s well worth the investment! Fairly regular use (monthly ish) for around a year, and now I just zap small areas a few times a year if/when they need it.

It’s helped me wear skirts more often in the summer, as there is no “oh no, I haven’t shaved” moment any more.

You do need to have a contrast between hair and skin though, for it to work well - I am pasty white with darkish leg hairs, so it worked well for me.

Thelifeofawife · 27/12/2025 21:48

This is really helpful, thanks everyone!

I wouldn’t have even thought to get something like this before, but I’m fed up with having to shave all the time, and the constant rashes around the bikini area.
It’s a lot of money but if it works then it does seem a good investment, so while I am on a self care kick it seems a good time to take the plunge

@OvaHere Maybe you should start to use yours now given the positive reviews 😃

OvaHere · 27/12/2025 21:49

@Thelifeofawife every few months I remember it and think I should. I wonder if it even works by now?

Should we start a MN hair removal comparison thread? Pics not advisable… 😂

I got the Fox direct from Hourglass, mainly so I could have the Horse case. I dropped the picture of me wearing most of it. Swirled the brush around all 3 blushers. Bronzer to contour and the ambient powder all over. Also used the bronzer and highlighter as eyeshadow and the lips is the free one they gave me. I’ve been using it almost daily since I got in September and it still looks like new!

Thanks for sharing, I am now excited to try the Fox palette alternatively as you are doing a great job.

BlueLimes · 27/12/2025 22:15

I have a lumea and not much contrast between hair colour and skin tone, I only use sporadically but it definitely has worked fairly well.

@keepincool I have sold more on ebay than on Vinted. I have found that grouping 2 or 3 of the same mini works quite well, or two items that obviously go together (like a shampoo and matching conditioner, or shower gel and body cream) but that random sets are less likely to sell.

That said, there is a LOT more on Vinted and ebay now, as well as a lot more fakes, so that selling feels harder - you need to be cheap enough to sell but not so cheap people think it’s a fake.

Thelifeofawife · 28/12/2025 10:58

Oh I’m kicking myself. Amazon had the Lumea on offer, but I was so busy yesterday I didn’t want to just ‘rush buy’ so decided to do this morning when I have more time. You guessed it, it’s gone back up to full price 🙈

I’ll be hairy forevermore 🫠😅

(I do hope I find another good deal, I don’t know why I didn’t just get it last night as I’d 99% made up my mind)

BakeOffRewatch · 28/12/2025 11:06

@Thelifeofawife i tend to avoid late night purchases as new GWP and discounts are released at 8am and also often priorities seem very different in the morning! I rarely regret purchases or make returns and I’m happy with missing out. I hate feeling like I bought something because a company made me be impulsive.

@AprilLady as a buyer, yes if there’s too much stuff I don’t want in a bundle I usually don’t pull the trigger even if the stuff I do want would be worth it. And it is so hard to figure out what is fake. I would have judged by previous sales and stock to see but then there was that thing here where a Vinted seller was bulk buying and they were all fakes - can’t remember what the product was.

Boots have a good deal on the Lumea 8000. Although Amazon are showing the same price, not sure if the deal is maybe back or if you wanted a specific model? Amazon showing 9000 on offer too, but only in one of the colours.

Thelifeofawife · 28/12/2025 11:45

@owlpassport Thank you! It was the 7000 that was on offer for £185. I don’t know whether it’s worth paying the extra £100 (sale price) for a newer version as they all seem good based on reviews. It was the fact that it was under £200 that drew me to it

Not sure if you know anyone who’s a student who could buy it for you, but there’s 10% student discount at boots too! I have a student card as I’m doing an evening course at uni and the student discounts are great! You add it once at the till and I think it’s active for the academic year

IlovePond · 29/12/2025 00:31

Hi, it was my birthday yesterday so I went into London. The Harrods beauty sale was disappointing, but I did get the EL blockbuster set for just under £69. I know it’s not as good value as in previous years, but if was definitely worth paying that just for the ANR serums alone.

I visited the reduced HG palettes in HN but resisted.

SpaceNK Covent Garden had some good reductions on JoLoves, Laura Mercier, By Terry, Glossier and SDJ products, to name just a few. Not sure why I bought a double pack of EH cleansing balm - I already have lots of balms to use up and it’s not like I love them, but I suppose they will keep!

PureSeoul on Charing X Road had some items on sale. I got some Athe lipsticks for under £7 each, which is about what they’d be in SK, so, a bargain. I think I will put one or both of them away for my 2026 DIY calendar. I also got one of the Colourglam balm/ glosses from the other SK shop nearby - full price, but it’s cute.

I really am going to try to go low/no purchase from 1/1!

Beautiful!
Your technique is basically what the hourglass sales rep in JL Liverpool told me she does, can't remember if she said swirl the whole palette or just the blushes. Going to try it, I got the swan palette 🦢
