Not happy with new veneers

I’m in my 50s and have had veneers for around 25 years as my natural teeth were quite awful. I was lucky that they lasted around 25 years, but a few had been breaking over the last few years so it was time to replace them. I had temporaries fitted and loved the shape/colour. Met with lab tech on my dentist’s suggestion and he said the final veneers are often brighter than the temps. This worried me as the temps were as light as I wanted to go and I didn’t want them to look fake. So I decided to go for a shade down. When the finals were placed on my teeth before bonding I could see they looked slighter darker but put it down to lack of natural light in the dentists room and they were cemented on. I’ve had them a week now and think they look slightly yellow and are darker than my previous ones 🤦‍♀️ I don’t hate them but don’t love them either. I’m hoping these ones will last 20 odd years and obviously theyre expensive so want them to be right. I have a review appointment with my dentist next week to see how I’m getting on. Wondering whether to bring this up, I know he won’t be happy at the thought of a possible refit but I relied on the technician’s advice and now wish I hadn’t. Also one side is quite painful when biting down and flossing is painful, which I obviously will mention. Just don’t know what to do and whether I want to go through it again even if they did agree to redo them 😬

Photo? A1 is the top of the standard teeth shade chart but these days many go much, much whiter with luminous dazzling teeth which look false . Yours probably look natural. It would be an ordeal to go through removal and refitting, and might harm your natural teeth. Didn’t you agree on the shade with the dentist first?

Devondame5 · 12/12/2025 19:37

We did agree a shade but the tech then told me they’d be brighter than the temps so based on that I dropped down a shade

They are perfect! They look bright and clean. You don't want luminous teeth.

mustwashmycurtains · 12/12/2025 19:50

Agreed - they look great! And I’m fussy about teeth

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 12/12/2025 19:51

Good choice. Stick with them.

ForLoveNotMoney · 12/12/2025 19:52

They are perfect. Nothing more fake than over white teeth.

PebbleDashAtOne · 12/12/2025 19:53

They look great!

TootsMaHoots · 12/12/2025 20:23

I think the colour is good.

viques · 12/12/2025 20:25

They look very natural.

Lifelover16 · 12/12/2025 20:26

They look beautiful and really natural. If they were mine I’d keep them.
The whiter ones look a little bit artificial

PinkKimono · 12/12/2025 20:29

They look lovely. Not dark at all. Any whiter and they would be veering towards looking fake, I think.

Chewbecca · 12/12/2025 20:32

They look really natural. Well, no, better than most people's natural teeth!

TomatoSandwiches · 12/12/2025 20:35

I think they look very good, natural.

justasking111 · 12/12/2025 20:39

@Devondame5

I think the celebrity turkey-teeth look like dentures and skew our perception of what teeth are actually meant to look like.

Do you want people to think you have beautiful natural teeth or do you want them to be dazzled by their brightness?

It's like a perfectly beautiful woman can be called 'the fat one' in a girl band, because the others are so, so slender.

Personally I wouldn't want people being transfixed by my teeth and unable to look anywhere else. Same goes for my boobs, my nails, my eyelashes and anything else I could get overhauled if I wanted to.

MiniCoopers · 12/12/2025 21:13

They are white, normal white, not Rylan white or Turkish Tewth White, just normal healthy white. If you don’t see that you may have a health issue 🤷‍♀️

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 12/12/2025 21:17

I think if you are older, and I am older than you, you really don't want bright white teeth, very aging.
Your teeth look good to me.

Tighteningmybelt · 12/12/2025 21:22

They look yellow in comparison to someone like Katie price but honestly that’s a very good thing. I like them.

Devondame5 · 12/12/2025 21:24

These were the temps which were a shade lighter which I loved but didn’t want them any whiter

Oh I agree, I think the too white ones look ridiculous. I just feel like I’ve paid a lot of money for slightly yellow looking teeth 🤦‍♀️
