I’m in my 50s and have had veneers for around 25 years as my natural teeth were quite awful. I was lucky that they lasted around 25 years, but a few had been breaking over the last few years so it was time to replace them. I had temporaries fitted and loved the shape/colour. Met with lab tech on my dentist’s suggestion and he said the final veneers are often brighter than the temps. This worried me as the temps were as light as I wanted to go and I didn’t want them to look fake. So I decided to go for a shade down. When the finals were placed on my teeth before bonding I could see they looked slighter darker but put it down to lack of natural light in the dentists room and they were cemented on. I’ve had them a week now and think they look slightly yellow and are darker than my previous ones 🤦♀️ I don’t hate them but don’t love them either. I’m hoping these ones will last 20 odd years and obviously theyre expensive so want them to be right. I have a review appointment with my dentist next week to see how I’m getting on. Wondering whether to bring this up, I know he won’t be happy at the thought of a possible refit but I relied on the technician’s advice and now wish I hadn’t. Also one side is quite painful when biting down and flossing is painful, which I obviously will mention. Just don’t know what to do and whether I want to go through it again even if they did agree to redo them 😬
