Help. I am seriously considering buying some Crocs...

I am off on holiday abroad in a month and am seriously thinking of buying a pair. I was thinking that if I bought a 'decent' pair I could travel in them then wear them on the beach and to breakfast etc and only have to take one other pair of shoes to wear in the evening.

Am I mad or is there a better alternative?

Please, for the love of god, do NOT buy crocs.

They are chavvy. I know that many MNers don't like that word, but as far as crocs go, I will us it.

Chequers - how can you think crocs are good and not appreciate the simple good design of the Converse pump ?

Goober · 10/06/2008 12:41

PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS PUMPS
DO IT.

I don't know about chavvy but they are shite that's for sure.
I personally would go for the pumps version.

MargaretMountford · 10/06/2008 12:43

no,they are timeless ! I do think a Converse pump can be worn at any age, even if I was active and pregnant I couldn't bear to wear crocs !

DirtySexyMummy · 10/06/2008 12:45

these
these
these
these
these
even these, if you must..

Just some suggestions, all from one site.

No need for crocs.

MrsPuddleduck · 10/06/2008 12:45

I think converse are for a narrow window from age 12 to 24 at most

Goober · 10/06/2008 12:53

So what do you think DV?

DreamingofChocolate · 10/06/2008 13:02

Rocket dog pumps - say no more.

MargaretMountford · 10/06/2008 13:06

fair enough Chequers ! don't want to get over heated about footwear really

expatinscotland · 10/06/2008 13:08

DO it!

They are soooo nice, especially the Mary Jane style ones.

I love mine. Thanks, Mama, I know it was hard for you to buy these for me.

I have cute little rhinestone Jibbitz on my black ones just now.

MrsMills · 10/06/2008 13:08

I can second Havaianas if you're looking for comfort, and they seem to wear really well, really thick foam/rubber soles.

I couldn't stand back and let you buy crocs without trying to help you see the light first.

Sorry but IMHO crocs should only be worn by very elderly ladies when doing their gardening - and even then I have my doubts .

Not sure about the pumps either - they do seem to look better on young girls rather than those of us of more "mature" years .

Personally, if you are looking for something serviceable and practical I would always suggest flip flops, especially for holidays, as they will go with anything casual.

halogen · 10/06/2008 13:12

Crocs are fabulously comfortable and much more practical for the beach than pumps. Also much more practical for chasing after a four year old than flip flops of any kind. However, stylish they are not. It all depends on what you value most highly, style or practicality/comfort!

MrsMills · 10/06/2008 13:12

nah, I wear Superga quie a bit, often without socks and my feet don't sweat.

MargaretMountford · 10/06/2008 13:12

I wouldn't wear canvas shoes with bare feet, but I really dislike those shoe liner things, they make my teeth itch

Nbg · 10/06/2008 13:13

If your thinking of buying them then there is no help for you.

Once bought, its downhill shoe buying for the rest of your life.

AggiePanther · 10/06/2008 13:14

fitflops are comfy and tone your bum as you walk aswell. 10% off at sweaty betty if you click through MN too

nope, never in summer as I live in flip flops and thongy type sandals - I love having bare feet...I only wear my converses with trousers/jeans so regular socks on then, usually in cooller months
