Melting face

I'm 46 and is my face is melting. I've got awful jowls and my already hooded eyes are getting really bad. You cant see my eye lids at all anymore. It all just seems to have come on overnight.
My jaw line is fine and wrinkle wise I'm fine.
Any suggestions?
I know I'm pore-y and always have been. My lips are starting to disappear too but I dont want fillers so they are what they are. I have never smoked but have always had a degree of wrinkly lips that don't really show on the photos.

Eta - I'm 3st over weight and have recently started to address that. I'm concerned that it will make my face even worse. Despite the photos my face isn't at all chubby irl.

No idea but my jaw line is as square as it's ever been. I'll upload a photo when I can get one as proof. 🤣

I believe you. But what I'm asking is, when you talk about jowls, what are you talking about, as I think you must be using the wrong word for something.

True. I wouldn't go overseas but boy would I get one here if the price was right.

Your talking about £22k plus to have that done in the U.K.!

Yeah I figured... Well when I hit 55 I think I'll give it a go.

So where are your jowls? 😂

TBH even if my face looks awful after I lose the weight, I still need to lose it. I need to think of my health, not how my face looks. I actually suspect I'll look gaunt yet jowly at the same time. 🤣

For me the weight loss has improved my face - cos I now have visible cheek bones and those alone " lift" the face - more so with a bit of highlighter :)

I’m confused to this question, you can clearly see them in the photos. Jowls are not double chins.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 13/12/2025 07:20

You look absolutely fine. Normal. Just smile more and it will lift the corners of your mouth. Very few people over 35 look good by staring into the camera with no emotion on their face.

BeardofHagrid · 13/12/2025 07:50

You could try using Cerave Resurfacing Retinol Serum every other night or so. It’s a very gentle retinol that will improve skin texture.

Nitgel · 13/12/2025 08:02

Its life. Fine something more worthy of your time left on earth to invest in

No, jowls are a saggy jaw line. What are you referring to when you say you can see jowls?

@lickingfingertastingfood ah thank you. ☺️

you might not, I don’t, mine shrunk right back. When I was over weight I had the exact same thing, and to be honest, a bit worse, my face was really fat, this is mine now, taking seconds ago, make up free, no filters, they disappeared totally. It’s the fat on our faces that do it. I’m mid fifties.

i take collagen, do strength training and eat my protein and use good skin care, it just all shrunk back and disappeared.

Yes it will get worse when you lose weight. I've lost 5 stone on mounjaro and my neck and jowls look much worse. Im off to Lithuania for a full facelift in May. There is no way round it.

Can I ask which clinic you’re going to?

Pretty much tee total. Have been for years.
I cant say fully because I will have a glass of something very occasionally.

Your skin looks lovely

Thanks op, I use retinol, hyralonic acid and a moisturiser, drink 3 litres of water a day, eat a healthy diet, as we get older we need to take care of our skin,

18 months ago I had the same issue, and honestly no point in fillers or Botox, it’s really just excess fat you see. It’s a bugger, I was also thinking what happened to my face.

i understand you want to lose weight, but it’s really important to do it the right way, to protect muscle as much as possible, then your face has a chance.

Dragonscaledaisy · 14/12/2025 16:11

Aluna · 11/12/2025 07:17

I would never use fillers myself because they do migrate in some people and are not properly broken down by the body; equally Clostridium botulinum is a powerful neurotoxin and while diluted in Botox there’s still sufficient poison to paralyse your muscles temporarily in local areas. The long term consequences of frequent use across the population will only really be known in about 20 years. The other thing is that they can make peoples faces look really weird - frozen in some places puffy in others.

I think you look fine. But if you’re not happy personally I’d rather have a one off face lift for a more permanent effect.

Botox has been used since 1989 - we already have 36 years of data. How 'long term' do you want?

soupyspoon · 14/12/2025 21:10

I think its quite a modern mind set that considers something over the last 30-40 years as 'long term' in medical circles. ( although I see that said about other things across social media, like life didnt exist before about 20 years ago) I consider that short term although in the case of some drugs, and this is one of them, there are millions of pieces of research (aka patients) so the level of 'testing' as it were has been really really high

It’s initial use was limited medical application.

We don’t yet have data on 30 years of regular Botox across the face, 3x per year, across the population.
