Melting face

I'm 46 and is my face is melting. I've got awful jowls and my already hooded eyes are getting really bad. You cant see my eye lids at all anymore. It all just seems to have come on overnight.
My jaw line is fine and wrinkle wise I'm fine.
Any suggestions?
I know I'm pore-y and always have been. My lips are starting to disappear too but I dont want fillers so they are what they are. I have never smoked but have always had a degree of wrinkly lips that don't really show on the photos.

Eta - I'm 3st over weight and have recently started to address that. I'm concerned that it will make my face even worse. Despite the photos my face isn't at all chubby irl.

@Gettingbysomehow lithuania? How much is it there?

Im having a classic deep plane face and necklift which is basically everything for 7k. 5 stone off at my age 63 nearly 64 really makes your face sag. My body is passable as I was always small round the waist so its just the face really.

Sliverreindeer · 11/12/2025 03:43

Your aging op
We all are
It's part of life ,some face creams might help you feel better,as in that you are doing something, but I don't think they make much difference
It's all down to genetics how we age ,not something we can control.

7k that much less than I expected. May I ask where you’re having it and by which doctor. I wish you all the best with it!

Terrytheweasel · 11/12/2025 04:29

I’m the same age. I’ve never had fillers because of the risk of it migrating. I find Botox pretty good though, you could have it for your hooded eyes and down turned mouth - it works well for me.
I also have it along my jaw line to tighten it - it’s very effective and risks are minimal.
Other things you can do - red light therapy mask, avoid sugar, drink more water, get enough sleep and get facials to reduce puffiness (or watch some YouTube videos on lymphatic draining for your face)
I also use a vitamin c serum every morning and factor 50. Eat lots of bright vegetables and greens.
Your photo looks like you’re carrying excess water in your face - I’d start my addressing that first.

Yes I need the information about Lithuania!

HangryBrickShark · 11/12/2025 06:09

Augustandeverythingafter1 · 10/12/2025 09:12

It's gutting because my gran only looks about 20yrs older than me and my mum has hardly any jowels. How unfair is that!

But, being very bitchy for a moment: my brother is 5 years younger than me and looks haggered. He's not had a hard life etc so it's just how he's aging. Clearly we did not get the good genes.

Edited

If you lose weight you'll be surprised how different your face looks. I've lost over 3 stone and my face looks very different now.

You can do it OP! X

Same here, 10 stone loss. I look nothing like my passport photo and it causes problems at the facial recognition thing.

In my passport photo I look like a fat young man. In real life I have a fringe, glasses and thin old womans face.

Nothing like each other.

AreYouSureAskedNaomi · 11/12/2025 06:44

Agree re the weight difference - my saggy jowls vanish when I lose weight

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 11/12/2025 06:52

You have a downturned mouth. I probably will have that as well one day (I’m over 10 years younger than you), seeing as I can already spot the first signs.

anyhow. Retinol, sunscreen and micro-needling might help a bit if you don’t want to consider more invasive treatments.

If you smile it won’t be (as) noticeable, btw. But you obviously can’t smile 24/7…🤔🤔

edit: weight loss doesn’t have to make things worse. My 60 year old aunt has recently lost a lot of weight and she doesn’t look older at all.

Girlintheframe · 11/12/2025 07:14

There is quite a lot of new technology now around now like software therapy which is being used for jowls. It’s non invasive but pricey. Alternatively a dermal filler would help lift your mid face which would help lift jowls and as has been mentioned Botox to help lift you mouth area.

Aluna · 11/12/2025 07:17

I would never use fillers myself because they do migrate in some people and are not properly broken down by the body; equally Clostridium botulinum is a powerful neurotoxin and while diluted in Botox there’s still sufficient poison to paralyse your muscles temporarily in local areas. The long term consequences of frequent use across the population will only really be known in about 20 years. The other thing is that they can make peoples faces look really weird - frozen in some places puffy in others.

I think you look fine. But if you’re not happy personally I’d rather have a one off face lift for a more permanent effect.

Augustandeverythingafter1 · 10/12/2025 10:34

My jaw line really is fine. Dont tell me that's going to go downhill as fast!

But jaw line is jowls. If you have a good jawline it means you don't have jowls. What do you think jowls are?

HatStickBoots · 11/12/2025 07:28

Try doing facial exercises every day. I’ve been doing these since I was 45 for ten years now and they’ve strengthened my cheeks, lips and jawline. I think there’s even a gadget to chew on which targets all the facial muscles too. It doesn’t stop little lines and folds forming but does give a good structure underneath the skin.

TeaRoseTallulah · 11/12/2025 07:47

ChikinLikin · 10/12/2025 09:24

In my opinion you have really lovely lips and your skin is fine.

I agree ,I can't see the problem .

BeNoisyFish · 11/12/2025 08:18

IndieRocknRoll · 10/12/2025 22:30

Going against the grain but I lost 1.5st earlier this year and I think my lower face definitely looks better. My saggy jowls and marionette lines have definitely improved and my jaw is more defined.
sadly they’ve been replaced by a crepey neck!

I agree. I think havening a fuller face is good for filling out wrinkles but makes sagging in nasolabial and jowls worse because there is more mass for gravity to.pull down and the grooves look deeper because there is more flesh. I think fillers look better on slimmer faces so I wouldn't advise fillers now. You do have a nice skin tone and a lovely defined cupid's bow. You could try hylauronic acid serum followed by vaseline on your lips and generally to.drink more water. This product stings but definitely plumped up my lips:

The pores can be improved with acids, like glycolic acid and niancimide.

You could train your face to have a slight smile like Monalisa, with time it will be your neutral/ resting default facial expression and lift up the corners of your lips. People will approach you more and smile at you, so if you'd prefer they left you alone maybe skip this tip.😁😁😁

thecatneuterer · 11/12/2025 07:18

But jaw line is jowls. If you have a good jawline it means you don't have jowls. What do you think jowls are?

No idea but my jaw line is as square as it's ever been. I'll upload a photo when I can get one as proof. 🤣

I mean this gently but I had this when overweight /obese, it’s the excess fat on your face, and the only way to resolve it is to lose the weight. I had the same thing and mine is back to how it should be with the weight gone/

it’s an urban myth fat makes our faces youthful, it doesn’t it makes us look jowly with chubby cheeks etc, and you can see th4 fat on your face.

id not get any invasive work done, it won’t really help, just invest in good skin care, work out snd continue on your weight loss journey.

Augustandeverythingafter1 · 12/12/2025 16:50

Never say never but face lifts are scary (and out of budget). Plus a lot of people seem to end up with really wide mouths after them. I guess it's like all surgery/tweaks though. The good ones just make people look well rested/refreshed/healthy. The bad ones look like someone has had work and are why surgery gets a bad rep.

I can absolutely see what people mean about my down turned mouth making it worse. I can also see how it could develop into a rbf.

I will look into botox. I dont want it but I'm starting to feel sad when I look in the mirror and that will only encourage the rbf!🤣

I like to think I'm a smiley person.

I dont have crows feet to speak of yet but I actually quite like them so they wouldnt bother me. I dont really have forehead wrinkles yet either and dont really have much of an opinion on them so can't see that they would bother me. I have a 1 instead of 11s though and when I'm tired that gets very pronounced which bothers me but not as much as my lower face. Plus I can hide that with glasses/fringe!

TBH even if my face looks awful after I lose the weight, I still need to lose it. I need to think of my health, not how my face looks. I actually suspect I'll look gaunt yet jowly at the same time. 🤣

7k for a face and neck?? I need to know more!

Allseeingallknowing · 12/12/2025 17:05

OP, Your lips are not disappearing- they’re full, and a nice shape!

StarShapedWindow · 12/12/2025 17:06

I’m 47 and recently lost 3.5 stone, I disagree that loosing weight automatically negatively affects your face. When I was overweight my face got really plain and I thought it was just age. I didn’t expect the weight loss to improve my face but it looks almost exactly the same as it did in my 30’s. I’ve lost my jowls and my big cheeks and now I look a lot better facially.

Personally I’d loose the weight before doing anything with your face other than using creams etc. and see how you feel.

Yes it will get worse when you lose weight. I've lost 5 stone on mounjaro and my neck and jowls look much worse. Im off to Lithuania for a full facelift in May. There is no way round it.

I have a friend from Lithuanian who is always complaining about the terrible health services are over there is so maybe be careful.

True. I wouldn't go overseas but boy would I get one here if the price was right.
