I'm looking for recommendations for a really warm coat for watching dd play football in the freezing mornings.

Does anyone recommend Dry Robes?

Thanks in advance

I invested in the Superdry longline - about £120 and I will wear it for life. It’s unbelievable.

This is the warmest coat I ever had, I think it looks good, and it's not expensive. I've even bought a second in case anything happens to my first!

Looks good, thank you! Is it true to size?

I got a different brand Dry Robe on Vinted. Comes down to my ankles - like watching indoors!

Sounds like a dream! Do you know the brand name by any chance?

I have the full length landsend waterproof feather filled one. It is years old, I use nikwax to wash and reproof and it's as good as new.

NotDarkGothicMama · 06/12/2025 13:13

I have a dry robe and snow boots. It's not trendy but I'm warm and dry.

It’s a HUUB

Rein coats are really good - warm & water proof. Massive hood which actually stays up when you want it to! Obviously they are designed for equestrian stuff but definitely built for the job!

Runlikesomeoneleftgateopen · 06/12/2025 13:49

Landsend sell some really warm coats, and often have a sale.

CrochetCache · 06/12/2025 14:00

Drywalks the winter one, totally waterproof!

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 06/12/2025 14:03

I have a Dry Robe which I wear after sea swimming in the morning. It is amazingly warm BUT very heavy. I'm not sure id want to wear it for hours on end.

CMOTDibbler · 06/12/2025 14:07

I'd go for a Lands End stadium squall coat in a size up with a heated gilet or hoody (I have a Mud Daddy one which is really cosy and very efficient https://www.muddaddy.co.uk/collections/the-mud-daddy-family/products/warm-daddy-keep-saving-and-keep-warm-this-winter) underneath. IMO if you are standing around you need something to put heat into you as well as keep it in. If you don't want to spend on a heated gilet type thing, then the alternative is a https://wild-moose.co.uk/products/hottum so you can wear a hot water bottle which is blissful.
Dry robe type things are good on wind proofing, but apart from a fleecy layer don't have insulation

Yes it is.

PeonyBulb · 06/12/2025 15:17

As much as I loathe Dry Robe Wankers I would buy one for watching at the sidelines of a wet and cold footy match. Being warm, dry and toasty is the goal

butidid · 06/12/2025 15:21

North face arctic parka, very pricey but lasts years, almost too warm for long walks but toasty if you're sitting around

Setyoufree · 06/12/2025 16:14

Going against the grain I don't find my DryRobe massively warm - watching rugby in the rain for hours it does keep the rain off but doesn't keep you warm even with many layers underneath

sansou · 06/12/2025 17:51

I would reccommend Didricksons - mine is about a decade old but is similar to this or this

Wait another 2 weeks and I suspect that you have much more choice at Jan sale prices.

I have a Seeland shoòting jacket. It's designed for days on winter mountainsides. Or a ski jacket is the other super warm option. They're both waterproof too.

The boots are so important. It's not just about the body. I also wear a faux fur hat pulled right down. And thermal gloves.

BananaPeachPie · 06/12/2025 18:53

Didrikson! So cosy. I look forward to winter dog walks just so that I can wear it.

CandiedPrincess · 06/12/2025 18:58

Thanks for posting this! I need something too but as a shorty, I hate long coats.

onetrickrockingpony · 06/12/2025 19:14

Agree with Didrikson. You know it’s quality and it’s warm because it’s a Swedish brand. I adore mine. So warm yet still stylish.
