Let's discuss the treats and countdown together to what will no doubt be our most beautiful day of the year! 😄💅

I sold the setting powder as I still have a Laura Mercier one from 2 years ago that I rarely use. I gave the beauty blender to a friend at work because I don’t use them and I replaced with a Votary serum that I bought from Vinted.

LightandBreezy · 09/12/2025 07:49

Day 9, I'm curious to try the beauty blender, I only wear tinted moisturiser very occasionally and normally apply it with my fingertips so will have fun trying this. I don't wear setting powder though so the hourglass product will get sold at some point.

I have a jumbo Laura mercier one that I bought 2 years ago and it's still going strong 😍 I've just finished a travel size Laura mercier which I think came in last year's harrods ac? 🤔 So this one will be great for taking away with me. I'm going to try to refill the Laura mercier travel though 🤣

pinkchampagne1 · 09/12/2025 08:06

Maybe I will give it another go. It is something I just forget to use so these little pots last forever.

LightandBreezy · 09/12/2025 08:07

Also I'm really pleased with the Davine's leave-in conditioner from the other day - my hair has been looking healthier and feels softer too since using. I've been trying to use use up the vast amount of hair oil/glosses I have from various kits/ GWP's but this seems to suit my hair much better and feels nourishing, so I'm glad I also have a full-size of this in the cupboard from a Cult beauty set. Nice to find a new favourite!

I have an aversion to setting powder as I think even these super-fine ones accentuate texture/ fine lines on me after a while, and my peri-menopausal skin needs all the help it can get. So instead I walk around with a shiny face and if I do wear make up it doesn't last. Hmm, maybe I should try this after all 😂

I really like Hourglass and sometimes use a setting powder so this can go in the stash. I also like a blender for my under eye concealer so this will be an upgrade to my Primark one. A good day today!

Powders can definitely accentuate fine lines and wrinkles. I use the method recommended by Charlotte Tilbury herself, which is to spray a setting spray first, only 2 or 3 sprays, not soaking the face like I did the first time 🙈🤣 then using a setting powder with a big fluffy brush (I use the la mer fluffy brush 😍 which is really soft) to push the spray in with the powder. Don't get loads of the powder on your brush, just a light amount and tap off the excess. Hopefully that helps ✌️

@JoRaRaRa
I was just going to say this , I watched CT on a you tube clip doing this .

diamondsandrose · 09/12/2025 17:16

Oooh @JoRaRaRa I’m going to try that ! Do you spray then push in the powder with the soft brush ?

Yep 😊

OvaHere · 09/12/2025 18:53

I will try that tip @JoRaRaRa I have some CT setting spray. After a lot of practice and research I'm pleased that a lot of the time I can get my make up looking flawless when I first put it on. However looking in a mirror by lunchtime can be a different story.

My skin leans dry so I think sometimes the base and powder sucks the moisture and I start to look patchy, dry and cakey in problem areas. This is why I prefer the dewy tints and foundations but that shiny, glowy look is better in summer than this time of year.

LightandBreezy · 10/12/2025 07:04

Day 10 is U Beauty Resurfacing compound, 15ml. I thought this was just an exfoliator from the name, but it seems to be much more, and in 3-6 days we'll all be seeing a visible difference with brighter, pore-less bouncy-cheeked faces. Sounds good!

I think I got this a few years ago in the Net-a-porter calendar but can't remember it particularly, ( it could have been a different product by this brand too) it has some great reviews on CB and I'm always excited to try skincare. It contains vit c and e, peptides, AHA's, retinol and hyaluronic acid so does sound like a multi-tasker - RRP is £86

Another expensive product. I have never tried this before but got a little eye cream by this brand in last year’s calendar which was lovely. Excited to try it.

namechange0998776554799000 · 10/12/2025 08:04

The reviews for this on CB sound amazing! A lot of them talk about subscriptions though, do CB even do that? I'm excited to try this, although since I just started with retinol I guess I should wait a while before switching things up.

This is the problem with such a great advent calendar, so many new things to try and I'm so impatient to try them all at once 😆

I think this sounds interesting but I have no idea where I'd use it in a routine that already has Vit C in the AM and retinal in the PM. Maybe you use it instead of those?
Despite liking the sound of this it is in danger of being one of those products that sits in the drawer because I can never decide how to best use it.

JoRaRaRa · 10/12/2025 08:31

I'd completely forgotten that this was in the AC so I was so excited when I opened the drawer and it was sat there staring at me 😍💃

I've just read the ingredients in this and it's a bit too active for me, so I'll likely try it like this:
Week 1: 1 night and wait to check for reaction, using my eve lom retinol serum and bioeffect egf serum on the other nights (not together)
Week 2: 2 nights, again with EL RS and Bioeffect in between.
Week 3: 3 nights with EL RS and bioeffect in between. This will then be how I'll continue.
I have rosacea and hormonal cystic acne so I need to be really careful.

Like @pinkchampagne1 i also received the eye cream in last year's calendar. I'm currently using it but it's running out now which is gutting 😩

I slowly worked my way through the products in last years calendar and I’m just coming to the end of the last face cream.

Honestly it’s such a good deal and a present that goes on giving.

LightandBreezy · 10/12/2025 10:23

@OvaHere this is what it says on CB site - the only thing it says not to use it alongside is any other acids/exfoliators. Definitely need a day spf with this one due to the acids and retinol too. Tbh this will probably last 2/3 weeks so I may just try it without other actives to be safe, winter is the worst (and the easiest!) time to mess up your skin barrier.

Looking at this review it seems suitable for rosacea prone skin so it might work well for you. 😊
The reviews are very good so I ordered myself another 15ml bottle from Vinted for £10. Did I need it? Absolutely not as I have so much stuff to get through, but I can’t resist a bargain! 😆

Delighted with the U Beauty compound and excited to try it . I also need to be careful with actives ( peri oral dermatitis which I am back on antibiotics AGAIN for ) so it’s good that it might be sensitive skin safe , unlike a lot of others !
Total value so far day 10 is £630 approx !!

Lemonademoney · 11/12/2025 06:58

Eeek!! This is one of the highlight days for me! I had the plumping lipgloss in my Liberty AC last year and love it so hoping I feel the same about today’s offering! It’s a brand I definitely can’t justify buying so feels a real treat.

LightandBreezy · 11/12/2025 07:03

Morning all, it feels like we've been opening the calendar for ages already (in a good way!) but here we are only on Day 11... I'd completely forgotten this was in the advent, 15ml of La Mer moisturising cream 😍
