General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Selfrdiges and Jo Loves calendars this year. Really looking forward to tomorrow.

@iSage - I agree - the old Rituals villages were a similar concept but so pretty.

Day 2 of Lumene: oat milk oil cleanser, 50ml. Looking forward to trying this in the future.

I bought cinnamon last year but only opened it a few weeks ago, it is a very nice colour indeed 😍

@Favouritepigeon mine was the same and broken. It is a lovely tin but such a shame

@Itsanewme - the Brown Thomas one is lovely. (I’m old enough to remember when it was Switzers.) Wish they would ship to the UK.

I have the Boots Skincare and today’s offering is a Burt’s Bees lip balm in Salted Caramel. Not entirely sure about the flavour….. although I haven’t tried it.

This morning from Cult Beauty is Saie Super Suede blush in shade Bella. Popped some on already, and really like it!

The powder seems very loose. I wonder if it is supposed to be like that (ie not hard and set).

Day 2 of Sephora is a double drawer. I have a MAC lipstick in creme d'nude. My first thoughts were that it looks too light for me but I will give it a go and see how I get on. The second product is an elemis green fig cleansing balm 20g. This will go in my stash as I'm using the elemis cherry one at the moment.

I love the VB Cinnamon, it's a lovely soft colour, I got it in the Space NK beauty luxuries edit and I've been using it every day.

This morning in Diptyque land, day 2 was a mini 35g candle in Ambre. It's smells gorgeous.

That sounds really nice. I'm impressed with the Lumene calendar, not only beautiful design but lovely products.

Day 2 for me is a 20g Elemis Green fig cleaning balm, I have one open so will go in my stash and an Hourglass Lipstick in Sahara.
Vogue bought me two House of Josean products, a full size face cream and a mini spf.
Degusta was a box of Monty Bojangles chocolates.

The Chuckling Cheese should be delivered later today.

Elle day 2 is two serums. Gallinee in a tiny tube which I’ll use up quickly and a Vit C serum from Pers. Happy with this and it retails at £44 in this 15ml size so that’s almost half the cost of the calendar.

I have Lumene in my basket and I keep dithering over checking out. I really should as I love their products.

Yepoda day two is a really fresh scented face mist. One of my favourite bits is the skin care guide with orders, the products are all numbered so you know the sequence to use them, for newbies like me 🤣

A bit late to the party - have the Elemis 12 day calendar ( prefer single brand ) as treated my mum to JM this year and couldn’t justify a 24 day one.
So far really pleased

1. Rose Pro collagen cleansing balm ( smells amazing)
2. Energising Marine cleanser

I’d only tried their night cream previously ( from a F&M calendar) and really liked it , so this is a good trial of their products

Boots No7 makeup calendar was a mini Future Renew night cream. Bit weird that the first two days have been skincare in a make up calendar but will definitely use them!

I am happy with the 25ml size of both so far as what got my beef about m&s last year was how teeny tiny some of their minis were ...not even enough product to take on holiday 🙄

DD's Sephora was a micellar water - she was happy!

Day 2 in lf fragrance is a perfume called amber. I like it - edit it’s an eau de toilette

My JL was shampoo, conditioner and 2 hair oils lol

Is it more subtle than it looks? I wasn't sure about this one in the photos but often they look more muted when worn.

Mine is a Sephora one I adjusted back in October. I have the Elemis and Mac lipstick plus a small fragrance sample.

Yesterday was a mint lip balm, which is lovely and a Sephora lip stain

Genuinely no longer recall what I added or took out so will be interesting to see based on photos from those with the original

Laboratory Perfumes Amber 0.17floz

I am determined to try every perfume each day so this morning I showered & sprayed this on. It is also my day in the office today. It smells lovely but quite masculine & I have just taken a moment to read about it & I think it is supposed to be for a man 😂

Oh well! I have had a couple of compliments from colleagues so perhaps this is my new scent?

I will take a picture of the Calendar box when I am back at home. It’s huge!

Yep my daughter is hair obsessed and will have stolen these and switched the others in 😆

I only went in once, and it was more than enough for me. It is very pigmented that's for sure, but it blends in nicely. Id say its more subtle than it looks. I think if i built it up more it would look abit clown-like. I find i have to really build my Dior blush, to get the pay off i like.

I am most pleased with my mini Rituals hair mask and the tea bag today, with the chocolate being a close third!

I’m a bit disappointed with my own efforts on the DIY calendar today 😹 Just tiny samples from Clarins that I vaguely remember chucking in there and a Prai mini drops thing that I assume was from a long-forgotten GWP!

I am so glad I got the Twinings tea calendar on a whim from Amazon. I am loving it!
