General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

I’ll be opening the Selfrdiges and Jo Loves calendars this year. Really looking forward to tomorrow.

Morning! I love that SDJ spray @AprilLady and I don’t mind admitting to it - it’s lovely!

Today’s DIY was two Dizziak hair products, Rituals was micellar water, which I have zero interest in, but I am very pleased with the fudge and matcha.

CC was the ridiculous tiny crackers - I was too bored of them to take a picture. (I am saving up each packet of crackers so that by day 24 I will have enough to make one full-sized version!)

As promised, today’s pic includes DDog’s treat from his calendar. I have also added a pic of him waiting patiently for permission to eat it!

Edited

That is one beautiful dog.

My parents always said I was cruel making my dogs wait for permission to eat treats but it's very sensible for when you drop something they shouldn't eat. One of the dogs is deaf now though so I've had to re-train her to take it on a hand signal. She also has cataracts but so long as it's a big signal she's OK.

Roundaboot · 16/12/2025 11:21

Aw, he's a lovely dog! And well trained too!

That mask looks like a lot of fun. I might actually use more masks if they came in that format.

MonkeyTennis34 · 16/12/2025 11:24

LF fragrance is Flowerbomb which I was initially excited about but now it’s on I can barely smell it. I remember Flowerbomb being a powerful perfume..

JL was a small Elemis marine cream which I love using.

IlovePond · 16/12/2025 11:28

Thanks @OchonAgusOchonOh and @Roundaboot - he’s a husky so doesn’t always obey, but he’s pretty good at waiting for permission before eating food on the floor. I agree that this is a helpful thing for dogs to learn, (especially if, like me, you are always dropping onions, etc. all over the place!)

He’s a rescue and it was his birthday recently. He’s a good boy, (apart from his chronic separation anxiety 🙀)

Happy birthday to him. I hope he got some extra treats.

Christmaschristmas · 16/12/2025 11:38

@IlovePond What a beautiful boy 🥰

DHs curated calendar is a bead to go on a bracelet from a previous day, and yesterdays was a pair of fluffy santa socks! ( I have cold feet in bed and always need more fluffy socks!)

Degusta is large pack of dessert flavour skittles!

IlovePond · 16/12/2025 11:38

He did @OchonAgusOchonOh 🎂🦴

Small Body Shop update:

Day 15 - mini strawberry shower gel
Day 16 - mini coconut shower cream

Love the strawberry, not a fan of the coconut - just personal taste!

HollyGolightly4 · 16/12/2025 12:51

Very happy today in boots premium with a rituals body scrub in some kind of orangey scent! I'm very much enjoying rituals as a brand this year, so it felt like a nice treat!

Growlybear83 · 16/12/2025 13:18

What a beautiful dog, @IlovePond. I’ll have to take a photo of my Wilfred enjoying his cat treat advent calendar. Day 16 for me was a Cult 51 neck and décolleté firming gel, a 5ml il etait in Bois oerfume, and Korres was a weeny cleanser.

IlovePond · 16/12/2025 13:25

Thanks @Growlybear83 - yes, please a Wilfred pic would be lovely!

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 16/12/2025 13:33

ASOS today is a Laneige lip balm. I’m overrun with lip balms so this may go into my charity stash.

Sylvan Glow is Axis-Y Vegan Collagen Eye Serum for fine lines and puffiness. Overrun with eye serums too so maybe donate.

L'Occitane today was make-up remover cleansing milk. Hopefully nice and mild, as I react to make-up remover quite often. Smells lovely anyway.

IlovePond · 16/12/2025 14:55

Thanks @Christmaschristmas - I’m trying to decide what to get him for Xmas. DH lost his treat bag recently, so he’s had one of those early, plus a light up collar, as DH refuses to use his luminous dog coat, (too uncool, apparently!)

I’m thinking I will get him one of those hugely expensive non-rawhide chews that cost a fortune, are supposed to last hours, but which he can demolish in a few bites!

On s calendar note:

I used up my tiny Clarins samples from last week in one use - they were ok, but I wouldn’t buy the full size.

I’m currently drinking the Detox tea from the Twining calendar. I haven’t had a duplicate door yet and am so impressed by this calendar and its variety!

owlpassport · 16/12/2025 15:03

@IlovePond Have you used JR Pet Products? I find them very reasonable and their dog treats are all good quality. Their ostrich bone lasts our girl ages, although she's a spaniel so not such a strong chewer.

IlovePond · 16/12/2025 15:46

Thanks @owlpassport - I will definitely check them out.

Seahorses12 · 16/12/2025 15:53

Dyptique today had a deodorising room spray in 7.5ml. It's actually quite nice, with a basil scent and it really does work.

My 'lovely' dog rolled in merde de fox two days ago and despite numerous specialist shampoos, I can still get a whiff of it every now and then.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 16/12/2025 16:44

Tomato ketchup is meant to get rid of the smell. I've never tried it though. I think you rub it in and then wash it out. Fox poo is his worst.

CB day 16 was a Color wow dream cocktail travel size. Not long used mine up, so happy with it.

HollyGolightly4 · 16/12/2025 17:53

I really liked that one @AppleDumplingWithCustard, very moisturising.
