General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

Day 3 Jo Loves was a Golden Gardenia paintbrush. Like others I’m not so keen on the paintbrush method as I find the fragrance doesn’t last long on me, but it’s useful for work or when on the go around other people who may be sensitive to things being sprayed.

Glosters was hand warmers which I’m very pleased with and will get a lot of use on chilly working from home days.

I have some of those gloves, they are really good.

I was really tempted by the SK calender and kept putting it in my basket but then getting worried about possible import charges and cancelling. I take it everything was okay with the postage though?

They work really well.

I didn't have any problems with customs or import charges luckily. It was free postage and took exactly one week from order to delivery. It came by DHL so I was able to track it all the way. The biggest hold-up was when it reached my nearest city, 30 minutes away, where it sat for over a day!

Day 1 Medik8 Advanced Day Total Protect 50ml - not tried anything from this range before, good 1st day

Day 2. Coats purifying clay cleanser 150ml. Not heard of this brand before, for oily skin so will probably gift.

Day 2 Cruel Oil Control Hydrating Water Essence 150ml
I have dry skin but will give this a go

Hope you like it, I tried this at an airport recently and really liked it. I went to try a different Le Labo scent to see if I wanted a different calendar (not naming as spoilers...) but the The Matcha was much nicer. Unfortunately I'm in mainland UK so can't get Brown Thomas but it looks like a good one!

Today’s cheese was Montgomery Cheddar. Another good one, especially if you like strong, mature cheddars.

Asos Caudalie anti wrinkle cream today, I quite like it - pleasant scent and felt nice going on this morning anyway!

Bonne maman was an apple, caramel and cinnamon.. Spread? Jam? Not sure what it's called when it's apples!

Korres was an olive body cream - I have a body cream to use up so won’t try it quite yet, but it looks promising.

Goldfields and Banks Pacific rock flower in the LF fragrance today. It’s a unisex one. Nice and fresh - and has an ethereal touch to it. However for the price point £140 for 100ml I’m not sure it’s complex enough for a re-buy and it tips over into the slightly too masculine for me. I think I might give to husband.
