General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread.

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads - though happy for those to be shared here too. Also looking forward to hearing about the “Frankenstein” curations.

Carrying on the tradition from previous years, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - Degusta, jam, cheese anyone?

I know there are mixed feelings on this, but many of us would really appreciate it if spoilers are not posted before 7am on the relevant day, though if the consensus is this is too late we could
make it from midnight on the day? Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

Posting pictures of contents is also always much appreciated.

A lovely fresh serum from Yepoda today, it’s a smaller size so will go away with me next month, I think most of these are full size, just a couple of smaller products.

What's a paintbrush format? Is it an actual brush or one of the rollerballs?

30ml Weleda Skin Food in OK today. I've previously broken out in a rash when using Skin Food on my body, but I'll use it as hand cream and think it'll be fine. I know a lot of people swear by it, but I'm not a huge fan. (RRP £10)

Glamour - 30ml UKHair growth serum. Looking forward to trying this, I'm currently trying to grow my hair so this will be handy. (RRP £29)

Yes I love this one too. Just bought it for a friend.

My home made calendar has the same Elemis rose moisturiser as the Elemis calendar! I love it so all good.

@OchonAgusOchonOh yes it’s an actual brush. Jo Loves make a number of their fragrances with a sort of cartridge which pushes into a paintbrush, a bit like a cartridge fountain pen. The fragrance itself is very thick and gloopy so doesn’t leak out.

Hi everyone,thanks for the thread, I am joining the conversation; my first year having advent calendars and I have 3: SpaceNK. OK beauty and Harvey Nichols (which I keep mixing up thinking it's Harrods, lol)
OK: really liked yesterday's loreal mascara, I took it out a month ago and took it on a trip with me and enjoyed using it, quite standard and easy to take off. I am gifting today's product the Weleda cream as a stocking filler for a friend. I have too many basic moisturisers on the go and several from advent calendars and edits.
HN: I also took out todays products a month ago, I love them both and am wearing the silk one right now; they are both practical products and I like the colours and the quality.

I didn’t get this in my Elle today, I got an 8ml By Terry brightening cc serum

ESPA 50 ml shampoo. I’m on my last but one shampoo so not long til I use this.

Boots skincare huge q&a body scrub. I definitely need to start using body scrub!

I'm not sure I'd like that. I'm not a fan of the rollerball. I like a good spritz or just putting it on with my finger for the ones with the open bottle.

@Fleecy I really rate L’Occitane hand creams (and I have very dry skin). Looking forward to using mine.

sorry to hear some people are receiving cracked palettes etc, that must be so frustrating, and sorry for people dropping boxes and perfume! I have cognitive issues due to a brain problem and sometimes can’t “see/distinguish” specific numbers if I look at more than a few, so today DH waited patiently while I found number 3 (and I kept looking at the date on my watch to compare the symbol) he was probably desperate to point it out! It also affects my SPaG but it’s variable and that seems OK at the moment (no doubt just jinxed it) so if my posts are suddenly appear illegible, I’m not drunk! A bonus for advent calendars is a very poor memory so I could read the contents weekly and still forget them, so every day is a genuine surprise

Hi, today’s DIY calendar door was a better effort from me- a Benefit tint, a sample of Dear Polly that came from my first Liberty BD and the Hello Sunday hand cream.

I shall save the Rituals advent candle for Sunday.

Not massively keen on camomile tea, but I will use today’s bag. Meanwhile the cheese calendar’s offering was the world’s tiniest biscuit duo! Choc calendar was a tiny DoubleDecker, (not pictured 😹)

ASAO today is the Caudalie lightweight firming cream. Never used anything from this brand but will give it a go.

Sylvan Glow is a House of Hur Weightless Sun Fluid. There is a sweet little part of the fairy-tale journey on each box so I’ll post that each day. Only just seen it.

@AppleDumplingWithCustard Caudalie products are a French pharmacy brand (I think) and have always found their products to be no nonsense but lovely - a bit like La Roche Posay

I love seeing the Yepoda contents. For me it was a toss-up between this and Sylvan Glow. I think they’re both lovely.

I’ll have to give today’s Vogue scented candle to a friend. DH was next to me when I took it out of the drawer and asked what the awful smell was. I’m also not a big fan of tomato-scented candles though

I've not tried the cream but I really like the serum in this range.

Day 3 in the smaller Body Shop calendar was a mini shea intense repair shampoo. Again, not massively exciting but I like the scent and this will definitely get used on a trip. Body Shop minis are all 60ml, in case anyone was wondering.

My StyleKorean calendar arrived at 8.30 last night, so I opened 3 doors this morning!
Day 1 - Purcell Pixcell Biom 2billion/ml (Think it's either a toner or serum!)
Day 2 - Zipiderm EGF Skin Barrier Cream Toner & Colorgram Fruity Glass Tint Lip Gloss
Day 3 - Benton Honest Eyelash Serum

I'm still waiting for SpaceNK to ship my fragrance one. I think I'll hold on until the 12 days of christmas. It should arrive before that😁

Gisou lip oil today in Cult B. Shade is Cherry on the cake. I love how it's sparkly, perfect for this time of year. Already tried it on and like it :)
