None of the Elemis balm/eve lom stuff is cutting it with my eyeliners and mascara’s now and also they hurt when they get in my eyes

I remember a lamcome one from years ago with was blue which was gentler but since that was 20 years ago I’m sure there are better formulations now

could you recommend yours?

Body shop camomile balm, removes absolutely all makeup it’s lovely stuff :)

Ihateboris · 27/11/2025 20:18

Clinique Take the Day Off for lids, lashes and lips is brilliant. I've tried cheaper alternatives but always revert to this one.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 27/11/2025 20:38

Inkey list oat balm is good and doesn't hurt at all if it gets in your eyes.

Failing any fancy products, I always used a bit of baby oil on a cotton wool pad to take off eye make-up. Gentle, simple ingredients, and came off really well!

I don’t use it now because I’m not wearing much eye make-up these days. But the baby oil trick will even remove stage make up.

Baby lotion

Baby lotion made my eye lids swell up.
I had read about using it on Mumsnet but it didn’t work for me ☹️
Avenè is very gentle but I don’t know what it is like removing waterproof mascara as I never use that.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 28/11/2025 14:30

I’m finding the same. I tried the blue Lancôme one but it didn’t do a great job. I’ve used Estée Lauder for years but that isn’t cutting it with the seemingly tenacious mascara I use these days. I’m reluctant to use anything oily as I find it gives me blurred vision for a while. I’d love a really great oil-free recommendation.

This Nivea one has been my favourite for years, it's so good.

And the price has been so good for years

Double cleanse with an oil based cleanser, then a water based cleanser.

silkypyjamas · 28/11/2025 16:34

I soak cotton pads in micellar water and leave them on my eyes for a minute then wipe gently and repeat if its thicker makeup. Seems to work for me without rubbing and dragging the sensitive skin around my eyes.

JDM625 · 28/11/2025 16:41

I use micellar gel- not the water. Its easy to pump out, stays on your hands/face to lather and doesn't require cotton balls to apply and scrape the make-up off your face.

The Nivea one is amazing I've used it for easily over 10 years

SagittariusUprising · 28/11/2025 20:10

Clinique Take The Day Off cleansing balm

PrincessFluffyPants · 28/11/2025 20:11

The Body Shop gentle camomile eye make up remover and happy to recommend the camomile cleansing butter as well. Both recommended to me on here years ago and I have never needed to buy another brand since.

Yes, likewise, I couldn’t believe that there was a cheaper alternative to Bi Facil!

Merseymum1980 · 28/11/2025 20:48

Simple one was good

I’m the third one recommending this….its fab !!!

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 28/11/2025 20:54

I’m another person that swears by the blue Nivea one that you shake.
its always on special offer somewhere, so never pay full price for it either.

BigBoots67 · 28/11/2025 20:55

The Ordinary Squalane cleanser.

I’ve used for a few years and had to use garnier micellar this week. It was dreadful in comparison.

PurpleFlower1983 · 28/11/2025 21:00

The Nivea one is the best, and the cheapest. It’s the only thing that tackles my Benefit eyeliner.
