Didriksons or Trespass

CrawlingFromShitshowToAfterglow · 20/11/2025 05:48

I know there have been a few really helpful threads recently on winter jackets. I've narrowed my options down to either a Didriksons or the Trespass Audrey.

Due to health reasons, I need to keep really warm and the recent cold weather has chilled me to the bones!

Can anyone recommend which one out of these? If I'm looking at a Didriksons, which specific one is good at keeping the cold out?

Thanks

Didrikson's quality is far superior to Trespass, and they are very warm depending on the model you get. The Erika parka is very warm, if you go on their website they have thermal ratings for their coats.

Tikestar · 20/11/2025 07:25

Another vote for Didrikson. If you look on their website it has a guide to warmth levels for their coats and jackets.

Notmyreality · 20/11/2025 07:28

You’ve narrowed it down to two extreme ends of the spectrum.

JinglingtoChristmas · 20/11/2025 07:31

I’ve just bought the Erika Parka and I’m concerned it won’t be warm enough. There is snow here today so I will report back after the school run.

Previously I’ve had Mountain warehouse Alaskan Womens 3 in 1 Long Waterproof Jacket and that is really warm.

MsDastardley · 20/11/2025 08:10

I’ve got 5 Didriksons of various weights. Love them. I got out my heavier one yesterday. I have a cold/virus and it was like wearing a hug. It would have been too warm though last week. Well worth the money, although I don’t think I’ve ever paid full price

Girlintheframe · 20/11/2025 08:23

I’ve just bought the Helle Parka. I really like it. It’s down as having a ‘warm’ rating. I already have coats for really cold weather but what I liked about this one is that it isint bulky at all plus is very waterproof. Quality appears really good. I was lucky enough to find it at an outlet store for a fraction of its normal cost. Am assuming it’s last years design maybe?
I have a lot of good quality hillwalking coats but the warmest coat I ever had was one from Superdry years ago!

MinnieMountain · 20/11/2025 08:36

I’ve just been out in my Didricksons puffer. It’s toasty. I’m tall so I particularly like the fact that they fit is a bit longer.

Myfridgeiscool · 20/11/2025 08:39

Didrikson coats are great. I spend lots of time outside and have 3 of varying thickness. It was freezing here yesterday and I was toasty with my coat on. The hood is particularly good. Get the Didrikson!

Handeyethingyowl · 20/11/2025 08:41

I have a Didrikson parka that I bought 13 years ago which is still going strong so they are worth the investment.

MsMartini · 20/11/2025 09:10

Didrikson. I've got the Helle which is thinner and I wear loads, and a thicker one, possibly the Erika which comes out for really cold weather and has a fantastically deep hood. Both are very well made, good pockets, long inner sleeves with thumb holes etc etc.

Thank you, everyone. The reason I was looking at the Trespass one was that it was mentioned in another thread about winter coats - and it was on sale! I didn't realise it was that different from a Didriksons!

I'm going to go with a Didriksons after the helpful comments on here. The Erika is on sale at Amazon at the moment. Do you think it's okay to buy from there?

I don’t have a warm coat from Trespass, but my Didrikson (a parka, probably the predecessor to the Erika) is about 10 years old and looks like new! Admittedly, I only wear it for walks in the countryside in the winter, because it’s too warm for going in shops! It’s so warm, I rarely have to zip it up! The phone pocket is great imo!

CrawlingFromShitshowToAfterglow · 20/11/2025 09:48

Thank you. I've just seen it for £164 on the Griggs website. Off to buy it now!

I had a coat from trespass and the feathers came out, the insulation filling didn’t stay in the right place, wasn’t waterproof

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 20/11/2025 10:55

Trespass are a bit bargain basement.

I have a Didrikson Erika and it’s a lovely coat.

I think mine came from there from memory! As I wanted an older style.

MinnieMountain · 20/11/2025 12:00

Mine was from Amazon. Previous seasons ones seem to be cheaper from there.

ChuckSpadina · 20/11/2025 12:12

Another vote for Didrikson here. I have two and there are not enough superlatives to describe how much I love (and rely on) them. I’ve never once felt too cold, regardless of the temperature, sounds daft but easily in my top 5 most valued possessions. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy another (though 8 years later and still going strong)…

Itsallstressstressstress · 20/11/2025 12:32

Didricksons all day. Love love love mine.

MissMogs · 20/11/2025 13:02

Which style is good? Some online seem a bit shapeless?

MamaClausToTheRescue · 20/11/2025 19:44

I love Didriksons and have a couple but the Helle mentioned a few times here is very good. It’s not one of their warmest ones but I wear it a lot in very cold weather with a Uniqlo super light down gilet underneath and it’s brilliant.

However, it is not as waterproof as I thought it would be and pales into insignificance compared with my Protected Species raincoats in this respect.

Hotel785634 · 20/11/2025 19:55

I have a Didricksons Antje and I love it. Very warm, long and completely waterproof.

DidntHaveTheLatin · 20/11/2025 20:09

I know you've made your choice now OP but am just coming on to add further weight 😂 I have three Didriksons and I wouldn't swap them for anything. A very old Taylor parka that is perfect feature-wise but not super smart, an Ida raincoat that has a great hood and plenty of pockets and a black parka/winter coat that I can't remember the name of (from about 6 yrs ago) that is an excellent all-rounder.

Hmmm now I'm quietly justifying another 😂

Yodeldodeldo · 20/11/2025 20:53

Part of the reason I find my didrikson parka so warm is because it seems very windproof. It's good for the biting easterly winds and has many hidden adjustable toggles so I can cocoon myself with a snug fit.

RocknRollBand · 20/11/2025 21:04

It’s like saying shall I buy a pork pie from Farm Foods or Fortnum’s.
