Vinted and fake items - Sezane

Followthesunshine · 15/11/2025 12:15

Has anyone ever successfully got Vinted to remove sellers selling fake items?

I noticed recently that a lot of Sezane cardigans were being listed that just didn't look right. The style and colours were not in keeping with Sezane. I took screenshots and when you image search them its clear they have never been sold by Sezane. Went onto the profiles and people who have bought the items are leaving negative reviews. I reported the sellers and Vinted just come back with their community rules have not been breached.

Just a moan and a warning really. I find it frustrating as I have bought and sold lovely genuine items on Vinted and hate the thought of scammers getting away with this!

I had this recently. I bought a Cos bracelet that definitely wasn’t Cos - came in different packaging. It was only £3 so didn’t bother complaining

tostaky · 15/11/2025 14:03

Oh! I bought a sezane cardigan for £38 with postage brand new with tags…. Ive just done a google search and you are right, it doesnt come up as a sezane item but lots of turkish (i think) websites with the same exact cardigan…. It is a really nice cardigan, good quality and quite warm so its fine but i’ll be more mindful next time…

Prelim · 15/11/2025 14:13

Yea I’ve had this. A seller was selling two identical cardigans, one with Cos tags and one with Sezanne tags. I did a google search and the cardigan was £5 on a Shein-type website. I complained to Vinted, sent them all the screenshots, but they said the rules hasn’t been breached. I can’t see how, unless you’re now able to sew different tags on cheap clothes and pass them off as something else!

Prelim · 15/11/2025 14:15

Looking today on there, there were so many Sezanne cardigans and jumpers. The sellers seem to only sell brand new ‘Sezanne’ all around the £45 range. They all have little to no reviews and the cardigans do not look like any Sezanne style I’ve seen.

Sorry to hear some of you have been caught out. Vinted really need to step up and act on reports.

Maybe you should email Sezane and report that Vinted are knowing hosting the sale of fakes.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 15/11/2025 21:46

I wanted to buy a bag but so many were obvious fakes that I gave up. I doubt Vinted gives a shit

DiamondRBD · 15/11/2025 21:46

I have seen this with Ganni - absolutely loads of T shirts on vinted from there and all from sellers with just that, and nothing else. I presume they are either fake or stolen!

narniabusiness · 15/11/2025 22:33

I’ve noticed the Sézane fakes too. The knitwear is shown against different but similar photoshopped backgrounds. There are also Balzac fakes as well- so many posters selling an identical but rather odd blouse. It’s bad that Vinted aren’t sorting it out.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 15/11/2025 22:38

I bought a cashmere jumper from cos on vinted for £40.

It looked fine and so I accepted it and washed it. Then I saw that the seams inside were not the same colour as the jumper, they were white and poorly stitched and the hem of the jumper was not cos standard.

I've chalked it up to experience, I'll only buy what I've seen in store from now on.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 15/11/2025 22:38

Oh and I took a tiny bit of fabric and it melted and so clearly isn't cashmere either!

Willowskyblue · 15/11/2025 22:45

Thanks for this warning as I have been looking at Sezane jumpwrs on Vinted. Will avoid now and save up for the real thing!

UntamedShrew · 15/11/2025 23:27

Agree so many fake Sezane jumpers - and recurring backgrounds so clearly repeat sellers.

I would avoid any new with tags - feels like it’s more likely to be real if it has been worn a few times, I’d rather that and decent fabrics than unworn fake plastic.

MogMog59 · 18/11/2025 08:48

I have been checking vinted recently on the lookout for a sezane betty cardigan in purple. I noticed a lot of supposedly Sezane cardigans listed all of a sudden all around £45, all new with tags but not looking like any of the cardigans I had ever seen on the Sezane website and with a background that looks like a commercial shot. I haven’t particularly noticed it with other brands

user1471548941 · 18/11/2025 08:58

I’ve noticed this too- it’s one of my common searches because I’ve got quite a lot if genuinely Sezane knitwear from there previously. Usually it’s only about £10-£15 less than the price for a new one though.

Not bought anything recently because I noticed the weird backgrounds and not recognising some of the styles and colours. And sellers seemingly having the same cardigan in 4 different colours but also 4 different sizes!

Tiddlywinkly · 18/11/2025 16:23

I'm a seller of my old Sezane stuff on Vinted. I'm pretty clued up on genuine items.

It does my nut that fake items come up and no amount of reporting to Vinted does little to nothing. They don't care!

Often fake item sellers will launch a whole load of items, sell them and then move on to new accounts. Be warned about the seller that picture their blouses etc posed with little bags. That seller was rampant around May time. My sister bought one, then asked me what I thought from the images 😔. It took about 2 months to get her money back. On the plus side, she got to keep the (ok, but not Sezane quality) top.

Tiddlywinkly · 18/11/2025 16:26

Other clues - a lot of 'new with tags', a lot of items available all at once, suspiciously lowish price point

Theonlyfatmiddleagedwomannotonmonjaro · 18/11/2025 16:44

I also noticed random items of "higher quality" brand clothing or jewellery and sometimes perfume appearring in the incorrect category like Gardenn or mirrors.

The user name is usually but not always some jumbled numbers.

They arebup there for a while then dissapear. Its more common at night. Ive reported a few but Vinted come back much later and say the item or profile no longer exists but the mext night...bam its back amd repeat!!

Obviously scammers.

I saw those items with the little bags and was wondering why the photos were posed like that! I have kept reporting the fake items but am getting nowhere - sadly seems that is everyone's experience but if confidence in the more expensive items of clothing is undermined that will mean people stop buying which surely isn't in Vinted's interests

I messaged Sézane on Instagram a few months ago to report counterfeit clothing on Vinted disguised as Sézane (with screenshots etc) they replied that their legal team was on the on the case, and those fake blouses and other crap were then removed from Vinted a few days later. But these fake accounts just pop back on I guess. You can DM Sézane on Instagram if you want, they will probably get it (temporarily) sorted again.

Yearningallovertheplace · 21/11/2025 16:27

Yep I unknowingly bought Shein 🤢🤢 seller still listing one of them as 'vintage'. Vinted doing nothing. Has really put me off.

MayaPinion · 21/11/2025 17:20

I’ve successfully reported loads of fake DMs - seller has no feedback, listing in a foreign language, odd ‘too cheap’ price for a brand new with tags product (e.g. £180 brand new boots listed at £67.46), the stitching is just a bit too wide, the ‘leather’ slightly too shiny, etc.

Mammut · 21/11/2025 17:26

I reported someone selling fake jewellery. I got refunded but reported the seller again as they still had loads of fakes listed. Vinted did absolutely nothing.

IrisPallida · 21/11/2025 18:26

It is the same with Birkenstocks on Vinted. I would say that 90% of Bostons and most Arizonas are fakes. They are always listed between £50-£60 new with tags. Some look like quite good fakes, but most are not if you know the brand.

The colourful/patterned background thing is to stop Vinted's dimwit AI picking up multiple and duplicate listings. A seller will have many seller accounts and use a different background set for each one.

Lahdidahxxx · 01/04/2026 09:33

I purchased a Sezane Milo bag three days ago for £80- new these cost over £300. My Vinted feed was then full of exact same bag at similar prices. Fortunately I managed to cancel the order before item was shipped and hopefully I’ll get
my refund. Felt like a bit of a fool tbh
