Wedding dress help

After many years together DP and I are getting married.
It’s literally just us and our two older teenagers in the registry office. No guests and no party or anything afterwards ( we don’t think. May decide to go out for celebratory drinks when we’ve finished). I’m mid 40’s. I’m neutral/ warmed toned with blonde hair and blue eyes. I’m not a massive fan of dressing up.

I’d like to wear a dress but ..

I’m very fat (24/26)
I’m a horrible shape. I have lipodema and really big cankles. This means anything other than a maxi dress is out of the question. I also can’t wear heels due to an ankle injury.

I’m fairly feminine I like nice hair/make-up/nails. I like pastels and flowers etc etc
Im going round in circles trying to find a dress or outfit to wear.
It needs to be very budget friendly. I’ll literally wear this dress or outfit for those few hours.
Can anyone please help? I’d prefer online shopping and trying on at home.

Eeekkk I know- but people will be looking at me. I honestly hate the thought of it. I know it sounds silly. I’m not a wallflower at all. I’m just SO self conscious of my horrible legs and arms. It’ll be fine and I’m feeling a lot more confident. The thought of standing on the stairs and passers-by seeing me makes me want to stay home and not go!

Its lovely you getting married, I don't like dresses so online yours someone recommended, there are places but have you tried charity shops some are lovely or put in Google what you want. Good luck and enjoy

Lipoedema warrior here 🙋🏼‍♀️ Firstly, congratulations! Secondly I’d definitely look at floaty fabric palazzo pants that you could wear compression under, comfortable yet elegant. Wear them with a more fitted style top to give you shape because no doubt you have a waist that is significantly smaller than your hips! With hair, makeup, nails and accessories you will absolutely rock it. He’s marrying you because he loves all of you remember! X

Yes! Some lovely stuff on shein. I struggle to find anything above a 4xl which is a 24. Day to day with a bit of stretch that would be fine. But for a non stretchy wedding dress I don’t think I’d fit. I have seen a few on there. I’m planning on artificial flowers for a small bouquet from shein. Thank you.

If I was you I’d have a lot of fun ordering off SHEIN and playing on klarna.. I’d order several and have fun trying on! You can return any or all you don’t like and won’t lose a penny.

Have a look at Popsy dresses online, they do lots of lovely designs and there's no reason to get something you wouldn't want to wear again! Regardless of what you wear I hope you have a wonderful day!

The only people looking at you will be your husband and your two children. Do you have a dress that makes you feel happy when you wear it? If you do then wear that and be hapoy. A wedding is about two people, that's all, and it's what makes you happy not what some mythical people who aren't there think. We had three people at ours, wore casual clothes, no flowers or music because we don't like fuss or being the centre of attention. Been married almost forty years now so it worked

Congratulations! I saw a lady with similar requirements to youand she write the most fabulous 1950s dresses, complete with sticky-out petticoat. It was red with black spots.

In retrospect I wish I'd written something like that instead of my traditional costume.

If you look on the Scarlett and Jo website lots of women post photos of themselves in the dresses. Might give you an idea what would suit, then off to Vinted. Congratulations.x

Instead of a dress have you thought of a pretty trouser suit? You could then ask a streamstress to make adjustments. Spend the money on having your hair/make-up done.
