@Experiment627 I was rather resentful. I avoid soap of any kind in that general direction but it wandered off piste.

ExBert80 · 17/03/2026 15:14

Ok, I have made a start.

Had a sort out and put stuff in plastic containers in spare room by category which I will “shop” from when the things in the bathroom run out. I am only buying stuff that I have run out of and that I know that is right for me.

The things I have gotten rid of -

OGX Argon Oil for ends of hair - bottle leaked and it was a slippery mess. Would not repurchase, not impressed.
John Frieda Frizz Ease hair serum - finished it this morning. Won’t RP.
Keratese Energisent scalp scrub - finished this morning. I would RP as I love it, but it is too expensive now I am trying to budget.
Weleda Skin Food - love it, a staple for me as a foot cream. Already have a replacement.
The Body Shop foot scrub - was a regular purchaser but they have now put it in a metal tube - it was in a pot before. Now it is hard to get out the tube plus they have ramped the price up. So will just be using a JML or Margaret Dabbs foot file from now on.

These we’re all old/dregs so have ditched:
Klorane Camomile Shampoo
Garnier Ultimate Blends conditioner
2 lavender oils - expired
1 tea tree oil - expired

Giving away -
Bondi Sands Exfoliating Glove (unused)
Pantene Silky and Glowy Conditioner- big bottle only used a few times, but a tangly mess for me.
Primark Glow Cream Primer - meh
Maybelline Jelly Primer - meh again
The Ordinary 15% Solution - allergic to
A jade face roller thingy
Collection Blush Duo
Beauty Pie Blusher

Threw away for hygiene reasons -
Someone would love them I am sure but I don’t like giving away mouth products
Kylie Jenner - 2 Butter Balms (messy)
Ruby Hammer 2 lipstick pencils (again messy)
Loccitane Shea butter lip balm - not impressed (love their hand cream though)
YSL balm - drying
Various No 7 and No 17 lip sticks etc

So, I am starting the journey. I seem to have amassed a lot of hair masks, hair oils, perfumes, blushers and glowy face primers. I am going to use the hair masks as regular conditioner and go through them one by one. Make a point of wearing perfume every day.

I have sorted out make up stash. I have a few of the Hourglass palettes buried so I have put them to the front and I am going to use them up. I have also got a £50 Special edition Hourglass brush, beautiful to look at, but what was I thinking of. I will now use it every day. Not sure what I was saving it for.

I feel motivated to get things down to a better level. This is a reset for me. I have not ruled out giving some other stuff away but at the moment it is on my use list.

TragicMuse · 17/03/2026 16:43

That’s a brilliant start @ExBert80 considered and ruthless! I like it!

SheilaFentiman · 17/03/2026 17:20

Really great work @ExBert80

Doglover73 · 17/03/2026 17:59

@ExBert80
Fantastic start.
Im trying to go through my stash and not save stuff for best as I go nowhere so it'll never get used. 🤣

Beautyfox · 18/03/2026 12:50

Lots of empties/binned. I am enjoying actually using all the minis that I have kept for holidays.

16..clarins hydrating cleanser- this is quite old and was a bit lumpy so I binned it as the consistency isn’t normally like this.
17..l’occitaine precious cream. Binned- very thick and strong scented smell.
18..dermalogica eye cream. Would Rp. Liked the consistency and it appeared to have brightening and lifting qualities.
19..temple spa body oil- nice but prefer clarins so wouldn’t RP.
20.neal’s Yard deodorant. Really like this my favourite natural deodorant so far would def RP.
21..lancome rehydrating toner- very thick and didn’t seem to do anything would not Rp.
22..clarins fresh scrub. Fine but better out there.
23..clarins multi active essence. I don’t get essences. Did nothing and another step in the routine.
24..mutha eye cream- binned. It was like a combination of eye cream with ysl touche elcait but not as good as separate products.
25..Larry king hair oil. Love this and have rp regularly.
26..memo french leather. I love this. Creamy not leathery despite the name. I actually almost passed this on because of the name but so glad I didn’t because it’s now one of my favourites.
27..espa body lotion. Nice smell and consistency and soaks in well. I have soo much body lotion that I wouldn’t rp.
28..moon carnival- lovely creamy yet fresh would RP
29.. clarins extra firming essence. Seems pointless to me.
30..31… clarins toner both are lovely and would RP for different skin days.
32..clarins tonic shower- lovely but a bit strong for delicate areas.
33.espa body wash. Very watery consistency and seems to have separated. I wonder if this is quite old.
34..rituals hair mask- nice and smooth hair would rp once I get through my stash.
35..clarins body scrub- nice but messy.
36..bamford sage body wash- I regularly use bamford and like how lightly scented it is.
37..aveda Initio mask- ok hair was soft but still quite a few fly away.
38.aveda neutriplenish mask - nice and soft would reuse but maybe not rp.
39.briogeo dandruff shampoo. I really liked how this worked on the scalp but did t dry out my hair. Would rp.

Wow @Beautyfox good going!

TragicMuse · 18/03/2026 13:17

Solid work @Beautyfox!

OvaHere · 18/03/2026 13:18

Doh wrong thread.

TragicMuse · 18/03/2026 13:18

I really need to sort out all my lipsticks. I have many and probably loads in the same or similar shades!!

SheilaFentiman · 19/03/2026 06:51

I forgot to take a picture but I used some honey “nourishing” eye patches from Kiko Milano. They were gold, which was nice, but otherwise I didn’t feel they did anything!

Experiment627 · 19/03/2026 08:14

@ExBert80 what a great start - well done xxx

@Beautyfox that is a lot of empties! Good for you!

I have some empties to report:
-Veet pure cold wax strips: these work well but I actually prefer hot wax & bought the Mylee lets face it wax kit... but it is so small! Will invest in a larger melter - although TBH since I have resumed regular facial waxing I have found that the forest is way less dense.
-Acqua di Parma Luce di Roma: was suggested as a dupe for my beloved Stella but alas way too woody/musky. This was just a 1.5ml sample.
-Dentasheen reatiner & denture cleaning tablets: these were ok but I really resent paying so much money to clean my retainer and my denture... I think one of you lovelies recommended soap and a toothbrush - which is what I will switch to next time I have a new retainer (which will need to be fairly soon as this one is starting to break). Has anyone tried an ultrasonic cleaner?

BTW I bit the bullet and bought the Redken amino-mint shampoo - OMG absolutely great on my oily roots.

I am giving away another two hair masks - one I used yesterday and it made my hair a tangly mess - Amika The Kure. And a Moroccan Oil one - I can’t stand the smell.

On the plus side now I have tidied away the clutter my sense of overwhelm has gone and I am actually using the products I have like body lotion etc.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 19/03/2026 08:46

I've used up:

an aveeno body cream, which was effective. Would repurchase.
bare minerals powder foundation. Already purchased a replacement. It’s my regular one.
gruum body moisturiser. It was a bar one. Effective but greasy.

I have Amika - The Kure and it makes my hair very soft!

ETA well done on reducing the overwhelm, that is key

Have just used up a Burts Bees body lotion (1oz). Nothing special but a handy washbag size.

ExBert80 · 19/03/2026 10:53

I had high hopes for it @SheilaFentimanbut since meno my hair is wayward no matter what I sling on it. I have bought expensive, mid price, cheap. I have made peace with it and just buying a reasonably decent cheap one from now on - after I have used up an OGX one.

SheilaFentiman · 20/03/2026 15:31

Body Oil - Molton Brown Flora Luminare. Love the smell of this and might RP once the stack reduces!

Forgot to post but got given the SpaceNK Body Wash Discovery Set as a gift. I wouldn’t ordinarily buy SpaceNK branded products myself but these are really lovely. So far I’ve used up 100ml bottles of Caribbean Shores, Paros Tides and Nordic Wilds. I would definitely consider repurchasing Caribbean Shores or Paros Tides, maybe Nordic Wilds in the winter. I have one left which I’ve just started, Parisian Gardens and then a couple of Caudalie body washes before I have to consider buying anything again.

Hi all.

I have a basket of empties but not sure I have the time or patience to list them all!

Went away to Australia for a month and bought a few things. Two Mecca SPFs, some nice body scrubs and an hand and body wash and a facial oil and was given a goody bag of hair products from a hairdresser friend of my friend. Then ordered a Clinique Moisture Surge set from Look Fantastic when I got back as it was a really good buy.

I shopped my stash before I went for mini sizes of things for my hand luggage and a skincare routine for while I was there. Currently using up what’s left of the hand luggage items and what I was using before I went and will move on to the things I took with me to finish them up. Oh I bought a few hair products too as the shampoo I took with me was making my hair really flyaway.

Need to not buy anything else this year now. Stash is getting a bit out of control again!

AndeanFlamingo · 21/03/2026 13:04

I have an entire one item to report this week:

  1. Kerastase Reparative Conditioner 30ml.

This was nice but I can't honestly say I noticed any real difference to when I use cheap conditioner.

Hoping next week will be better!

TragicMuse · 21/03/2026 16:54

Just a couple in the last few days

37 The Inkey List Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum 5ml. Felt nice but 5ml is really too small to tell what it might do for my skin other than it didn’t itch or sting. It’s a big bottle and pump for 5ml too. So the plastic waste feels quite significant. Probably not a repurchase. Not awful but not wow.

38 Pro:voke purple shampoo. A regular for my bleached hair. Will rp. I don’t like the smell but I do like what it does to tone out the yellow and brassiness.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 21/03/2026 22:56

@Experiment627 we are gonna need a new thread soon.

Great work everyone! You all seem to be doing better than me 🫣

@TragicMuse I have plenty of red lipstick that never sees the light of day. Made a resolution to wear them around the house 🤣

Experiment627 · 22/03/2026 06:07

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel THANK YOU! Blimey this one filled up fast - I looked at it on Monday and thought it would last a while longer but here we are, a brand shiny new thread has been started:

Welcome @Fillybuster - see you over on the new thread!

@user593 Is the "Paros" one referring to the Greek Island? That is sweet.
