The Aussie 3 Miracle Oil drops that have been hanging round my bathroom for ages are helping my winter-straw hair when I use them pre shampoo 🙂

OvaHere · 11/01/2026 19:27

@happytobemrsg Mood Exposure is my fave Hourglass blush shade. Great choice.

SheilaFentiman · 11/01/2026 19:27

That’s a good haul @happytobemrsg - I think the Kate Somerville stuff is very popular on this board

Ilikeyoursleeves · 11/01/2026 19:42

That’s an amazing haul @happytobemrsg it’s like reading the contents of an advent calendar! I bought 2 things today but I don’t think they count as being in my ‘stash’ as one is hand wash so a routine daily use item and one is new deodorant (Sure). The handwash is a Jo Malone rip
off from Lidl, I think they really do smell like the Jo Malone scents!!!!

happytobemrsg · 11/01/2026 20:19

@OvaHere I literally popped it on using my fingers quickly when it arrived & it’s stayed on all day. I already look so much better. It’s very beautiful.

@SheilaFentiman Other than the goat milk cleanser (which I absolutely love) the only other thing I’ve tried is Exfolikate (I think it was a free sample) & it was horrible. Made my skin inflamed. It was a really odd reaction. But I’ll use the cleanser forever.

Thank you @Ilikeyoursleeves! It was a bit of a shock when I added it all up but I’m hoping they will make a difference.

I’m toying up using my new bits tomorrow or waiting until the Lisa Eldridge stuff arrives so I can do a full makeover (I’m 37 going on 16 😂). I can’t wait to have a play around with it all.

Peridot1 · 11/01/2026 20:45

Sounds like a great spree @happytobemrsg!

mrslees7 · 11/01/2026 21:22

Hi all! Wow I feel like I’ve found my people. I am 48 and obsessed with make up and skincare, always looking for that WOW product (haven’t found it yet btw)
I am currently using Kiehl’s skincare and Morrocanoil for my hair (which is fab!)
Looking forward to reading through the thread and getting some ideas!!! X

Experiment627 · 25/11/2025 07:02

@Tarragon123you are doing so well!

The Fenty Eaze Drops are good - although a bit heavier than a tinted moisturizer.

I have an empty to report:
Rituals Soleil d'Or eau de parfum - smelled this in their Covent Garden store and fell in love. Bought the travel bottle on ebay for a fiver. Unfortunately it leaked a bit whilst on a trip and "melted" the labels off ofher toiletries 😳 I now see that it can be refilled- which is fab - but you need to be careful it is always tightly shut!

Hey! 👋 how do you find the lasting power of the rituals perfume? X

I'm beginning to think my beauty/skincare addition is threefold:

  1. The shopping by itself is a lot of fun and the dopamine gets me right in the chops.

  2. The owning of beautiful products, more usually cosmetics and fragrance but some skincare products have gorgeous packaging. I'm a little Gollum when I'm unboxing online orders and arranging my preciousssss.

  3. The using of the products... now by this stage, I feel the dopamine has worn off and I've come back down to earth. I'm more likely to be slightly (!) overwhelmed by my purchases or not know if I should try that gorgeous new lip gloss or keep it unopened so I can finish ones I already have, but then if I do that, I get bored and end up going back to....

  4. yay giddy shopping adventure!

  5. my precious!!!!

  6. oh no.

Does anyone relate? I think the only way to stop the cycle is a firm no buy for 2026 until i have a normal level of products. How do I do that? I was meant to be on a low buy this month and yesterday I finally caved under the onslaught of BF emails and bought:

9 Skincare products
3 Fragrance testers
9 Cosmetic products (including blushes and lip products when I have never panned any in all of my fortycough years on this planet)
6 Haircare products

You are me, I am you! lol

@happytobemrsgjust wanted to share I have the same issues with my hands after having my last baby, dry and cracked, and the o’keefes hand cream is very good but even better is their foot cream (green or blue tub, can’t remember which one is which) applied on hands at night. My cracks are gone the next morning, miraculous stuff. Just in case you want to try something else later.

Francestein · 12/01/2026 01:30

@OvaHere I loathe the dropper in the Ceramic skin ampoule too. I just tip it into my paws. This stuff has been seriously fabulous for my old face.

paristotokyo · 12/01/2026 02:27

Sunday Riley good genes glycolic acid treatment - I didn’t want to use this on my face as I was worried my sensitive skin would fall off, so used this up on the kp on my upper arms and this worked a treat. Great improvement so I’m pleased with that. Any acids I get in kits or the like will be used in a similar way but I won’t rp solely for this purpose.
Sunday Riley autocorrect eye cream - I used to love this, fell out of love with it and recently love it again 😂 I had put a spare one away to gift but think I’ll use it up. This is my day eye cream as it does have an immediate impact. Small travel size also lasts a very long time.
VT PDRN reedle shot hair ampoule - didn’t notice a difference at all but I this is the lowest grade one (100dL) and it does go up to 700. With these things I guess you need very consistent long term use but I don’t know if I can be bothered. Used this around my hair line. I’ve started to take supplements to help my hair loss any way so I don’t think I’ll be rp. Some people do just use the normal reedle shot for hair growth (cheaper).

Brilliant thank you @paristotokyo . I’ll check that out. My hands are so sensitive at the moment, just catching them against my zip hurts. It’s horrible

I did try that but after living on a shelf for the best part of a year it seemed to be separating a bit and didn't pass the sniff test either. As I love the Haruharu one I think I'll stick with that. If they ever change the packaging I would give it another go.

SheilaFentiman · 12/01/2026 11:36

What the heck is in No 7 Advanced Serum? It has come from Boots in a postage box labelled 'Do Not Fly'!!

happytobemrsg · 12/01/2026 11:38

Dos anyone have any recommendations on what would bring back brightness? I look so dull.

I used the La Roche Possay Hyalu B5 Suractivated Serum today and it felt lovely going on. I bought it based on ChatGPT recommendation but I can’t remember what its supposed to do 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also used the Hourglass primer (used previously and love this) and the beautiful blusher. Looking forward to seeing how my makeup fairs as the day goes on

These are very popular (they also do a mild and an extra strong version). I recently tried them and they do seem good. Most people seem to use them 1-2 times a week and others just when they have a special occasion coming up.

Link is for Lookfantastic but many retailers stock them.

@OvaHere I always write reviews on it when I buy it complaining about the stupid dropper

Edited

Does it work on faces? 🤣

Doglover73 · 12/01/2026 13:06

@paristotokyo
You can use the good genes as a face mask as well. Not as intense.
My skins reactive/sensitive/rosacea but is fine with it. I always put moisturiser on afterwards as like all of that area of skincare can dry your skin a bit. X

LightandBreezy · 12/01/2026 14:38

@happytobemrsg the skinceuticals CE ferulic will make your skin really bright, and chantecaille rose tint is a skin tint that's luminescent, you can mix it with foundation. Both are pricey though 😓 I'm having pretty good results with the medik8 ce ferulic too although it smells like you're rubbing toothpaste into your face and you use more product than with the skinceuticals one.

Peridot1 · 12/01/2026 15:15

@happytobemrsg - use an acid toner/wipe a few times a week and vitamin C is good for glow. I have never used the Skinceuticals one but it is supposed to be the best. Very expensive though. Vit C goes off quickly so it should be one in a dark container and not left in the sun. Keep in a drawer.

Peridot1 · 12/01/2026 15:25

I have just done a stock take of my newer products - the things I bought from October onwards plus my advent calendar.

Cleansers 7 full size, 1 small
Toners - 3 full size
Serums - 7 plus a retinoid
Eye creams - 3
Moisturisers - 5 general full size, 2 night creams
Lip products - 3
Masks - 3 sheet masks, one tube
Exfoliators/peels 3
1 Barrier repair balm
SPF - 2
Body - 1 exfoliator, 1 false tan, 1 small body butter

Also a few sample/minis, a Trinny blush/lip product, a mini mascara and a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick I won’t use so might sell.

It’s a lot. Especially with what I already had.

Definitely won’t need to buy anything this year. Possibly cleanser as I like a more creamy one as a second cleanse. And SPF.

Now need to figure out where to put it all!

RoseTeaLady · 12/01/2026 15:49

Some January empties. I have a lot of minis and sachets, so am trying to clear those first. Aiming for 100 this year.

Avene Tolérance cleanser - this was fine for a morning cleanse, but nothing special.
Clarins moisturiser sample x2 - loved both of these. Currently using full size.
Sisley shampoo sachet - very nice, but 2 spendy.
Nursem Handcream - a staple
JVN hair cream - loved this on my fine hair. Will repurchase at some point.
CH Good Girl sample x2 - Bought a 10ml on eBay.
Penhaligon’s Empressa sample - nice but not a purchase.
Miller Harris Coeur de Jardin sample - ditto
Beauty Pie Japanfusion cleanser - favourite cleanser.
CW Sunshine Protector (chucked) - very out of date!
PK conditioner sachet - meh.

13/100. This thread is really helping me with my spending.
