What shoes with Bootcut Jeans?

I’ve realised at long last that Boot cut are by far the most flatterimg
jeans for my figure. I’ve bought a pair and was stunned the number of people who asked had I lost weight. Anyway I’m going to get a couple pairs. I’m just not sure what shoes to wear. I generally wear Birks on the school run or trainers. What would smarten them up a little? Thanks x

The clue is in the name- boots.

watchadewin · 08/11/2025 11:04

Yeah, I think they're a nice style of jeans, but need to be worn with boots.

Person93369 · 08/11/2025 11:27

ok boots. Any suggestions? Like the shape of the Reiker.

I put a link in. I tend to go for pointy if Im wearing other boots but that's just personal preference.

pottylolly · 08/11/2025 13:09

they only look nice with heeled boots.

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 08/11/2025 15:22

I don’t think is true they only looke nice with heeled. I wear my blunstones with then and my cowboy boots. Neither of which have much of a heel. I think they look fine!

henlake7 · 08/11/2025 15:33

They look good with any sort of boot or trainer IMO but I if I want to smarten mine up abit I wear a pair with a low heel.

I love bootcut (although still pine for my retired skinnies) and wear them with these or Adidas Sambas

Lace up boots with a flat heel.

I wear mine with laced up riding style flat boots. I think it looks less dated than a heel.

Gettingbysomehow · 08/11/2025 17:33

I wear them with Mary Jane's occasionally with a low heel. They look fine with those.

MrsBrianJones · 08/11/2025 17:54

Chunky Frye type boots or any chunky boots look great, shoes - sixties style with a thick square heel works well, platform soled boots also work as do trainers.

Avoid a kitten heel boot with a pointed toe unless you want a noughties look, same with cowboy boots, shorter length are a more modern option.

Booksandsport · 08/11/2025 18:40

I generally wear with adidas spezial or boots- or shoes if going out.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 08/11/2025 19:46

Avoid anything too pointed in the toes.

A nice, round boot with a lower heel is perfect.

Bootcut makes a pointy boot look comically big.

But a nice, wedge trainer as well looks really nice.

DinoLil · 08/11/2025 20:03

Chelsea boots.

NotMeNoNo · 08/11/2025 20:24

Basically search S&B from about 2007, that should see you right. There were some Wrangler boots everybody wanted IIRC.

Happyher · 08/11/2025 22:13

We used to wear flip flops or scholl sandals with them in the seventies 🙂

cupfinalchaos · 08/11/2025 22:52

Nice trainers.

disci · 08/11/2025 23:06

I only don't wear bootcut jeans because of the footwear issue. Nearly every boot I see with them flies dangerously close to the MN Mum Boot of yesteryear. Fine if you love it, but I don't - I prefer flat/chunkier boots, and for me, they just don't work with bootcut. I can see how the right cowboy boot could work though.

In summer, they can look good with a birkie.

Same here, I finally bought some bootcut jeans this week after years of skinny and wish I'd done it sooner. I realised today that the skinny jeans were making the top half of me look top heavy (I have big boobs and no waist anymore). Suddenly I look balanced, therefore much more flattering. I've bought some Merrell winter boots and they look good with the jeans. https://www.merrell.com/UK/en_GB/thermo-snow-grip-mid-waterproof/195021266280.html? Also really weatherproof, insulated, and good for winter.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 09/11/2025 01:33

I love bootcut and I’m going to revisit them. Don’t care what anyone says - I shall wear them with pointed boots as I always did. Either heeled or flat. I think they were the most flattering cut jeans ever invented.

I agree and have never stopped wearing them. I wear them with Chelsea boots and they look fine.

DearieLuvvie · 09/11/2025 07:00

In winter most types of boots. But as a pp said not a pointy toe. I think you could also wear them with lace up doc martin shoes or heavy soled loafers. (Dune sells the type).

In summer, I used to wear them with a pair of tan flat Greek sandals.

After decades of wearing bootcut jeans I’m no longer comfortable in them, unfortunately. They really did fit my body shape but my body shape has changed with age.

Boot cut jeans with jogging shoes are apparently fashionable right now but I don’t like the look personally.
