For a work Christmas party. I won't be wearing it with chunky boots!

It popped up on my Facebook feed and I just love it, but doubting myself given the brand. For reference, im 48...size 14, 5ft 7

Part of the problem with this dress ties in with another thread on here currently - frumpy and mumsy ..... This dress is the perfect example - worn this way with the chunky boots and the goth type model it looks edgy BUT depending on the shoes worn and the person it could teeter into that " Debenhams party wear" vibe.

lifeonmars100 · 21/10/2025 22:49

I love it, often go and browse on that website, I am not their demographic, far too old, but I enjoy looking at the things on there

Ah see this is where my worry is.

I really like it too but agree with the comment about being careful with the shoes / accessories or it could change the look completely.

Pololomint · 21/10/2025 23:01

It’s not my style at all… But I kind of love it and think it will look fabulous!

How old are you? I'm 61 and I wear their stuff. It's about attitude, not age. I wear their dresses layered up and always DM style flat lace up boots. Never fails to get me compliments.

SwirlyShirly · 21/10/2025 23:06

I quite like it, it’s a nice colour!

Hmm I may need to start another thread then, for ideas for footwear/accessories!

It’s a good point! Have you got any boots / shoes which might work? I love the dress - quite Wednesday - but agree re styling

Agree....what shoes were you thinking of wearing with it op? I think the chunky boots (although tbh I wouldn't even call the ones the model is wearing that chunky) look good!

Normal heels would alter the look and any type of flat shoe (ballet flat type thing) definitely would tip it into debenhams party sale as the pp describes

Not heels. Disturbia needs gothic. I'd go with black lace up boots; think witchy/Victorian/Edwardian and a handknit black lace shawl or shrug with a small black velvet bag of your preferred type, be it clutch or long strap.

Sparkletastic · 22/10/2025 09:06

It’s so pretty

Screamingabdabz · 22/10/2025 09:10

For those wondering how it looks and fits - two people have posted photos of it in their reviews…

inamarina · 22/10/2025 09:23

I think it’s beautiful 🙂
I like the length of it, the sleeves, the colour - everything basically!

Malariahilaria · 22/10/2025 09:29

I absolutely love it!!! The colour is gorgeous and its got just the right amount of sparkle. I'd probably wear it with suede knee high boots for winter but not strappy sandals.

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/10/2025 10:02

I love it too. I like Disturbia clothing, it’s usually pretty good quality-wise (I have two dresses from them). I’d wear this with chunky ankle boots and a leather jacket. Or maybe knee boots. Defo needs something to contrast the dress to maximise impact.

Comefromaway · 22/10/2025 10:03

I seriously considered it last year then had a stern word with myself because I already own a green All Saints dress & a burgundy Paige dress in a similar style but I absolutely love the style.

The only thing that put me off was not being able to see it in person. I don;t know the quality of the brand (though I did once ask a shop assistant where her dress was from and she told me Disturbia. I don't know if in real life there would be too much netting.

RavenhairedRachel · 22/10/2025 19:12

Love it ❤️

RiseOfTheTeenyTinies · 22/10/2025 19:15

I really like it. Love the colour.

JaquelineHide · 22/10/2025 19:15

I love it!

DinaofCloud9 · 22/10/2025 19:16

I like it and the colour is gorgeous.

henlake7 · 22/10/2025 19:38

It is a pretty colour and looks perfect for party wear. Only thing that puts me off is the polyester and the price.

Disturbia is my second favourite brand and I have tons of their dresses (i really love the skater style and shirt dresses) but I usually only buy them in the sales as I don't think they are worth full price.
They do gorgeous embroidery on their pieces though and I think the knitwear and tailored things are worth it.

oohyoudevilyou · 22/10/2025 19:50

I like it. Looks good on the customers who reviewed it with a photo too. Agree with the chunky boots suggestion.
