Whats your brand personality?

Just curious....do you have a particular brand that is just 'you'?
Somewhere you can spend hours window shopping and know you will love almost everything or are you more of a varied shopper.

Im abit of both. I have 1 favourite brand that I tend to live in (and feels like my personality in a nutshell!) and another that is my 'bit on the side', both of which are abit spenny for me so I stalk the sales and Vinted.
Vinted is also where I branch out, alot of brands I'll happily buy second hand much cheaper but never go to the actual sites.

I shop in thrift shops here in the US and always pick up Calvin Klein, Ann Taylor, J.Crew, older Gap, Eileen Fisher, Anthropologie, Loft, LL Bean...

FullOfMomsense · 04/10/2025 02:17

Max mara 24/7. Can't go wrong

ChocolateCinderToffee · 04/10/2025 02:27

Used to be Monsoon.

Used to be Monsoon.

I had a Monsoon dress that I still think about today. I wore it to a university ball in my final year (that was pretty posh). It had a lilac slip, a silver lace and sequin overlay and the straps were twisted metal with lilac spheres interspersed on them. It was expensive for its time (2001 and definitely well over £100) but god, I adored that dress.

Furknickersandglitz · 04/10/2025 07:33

I'm pushing 50 and have never heard of most of these. My go to in the 90s was Oasis/warehouse/Jane Norman/Bay Trading. I specifically loved Bay Trading. Nowadays I look like a sack of sh*t in most things and wear anything I can find that fits me, I like and is affordable- to find something all 3 is rare

willowstar · 04/10/2025 07:50

Boden. I struggle with a lot of the puffy sleeved monstrosities but I have a lot of great shirts, work dresses and trousers from there.

Levis. I have lots and lots of Levis jeans, dresses, jumpsuits, shirts.

On the side...I was in a band with a strong rock/alternative vibe and discovered Disturbia through that. Also Allsaints but usually just from Vinted.

Zempy · 04/10/2025 08:03

I love The Row but have no hope of affording it!

I shop on Vinted primarily, so look at a really wide range of brands. To answer the question though, slightly embarrassed to admit I am a typical M&S woman.

To be fair, I am sixty!

EscapadeVelocity · 04/10/2025 08:23

@Furknickersandglitz - do you want to enjoy clothes again?

(I’m in my 60’s and if anything my obsession with fabulous clothes has only strengthened as I’ve become older.)

minipoodlemum · 04/10/2025 08:41

Boden, but not the « fun » and « hotchpotch « stuff. Their culottes and shift dresses are perfect for work. I have a denim A line mini skirt from there which must be 20 years old and it’s perfect, not too short, great quality. Also Mint Velvet, Zara, H&M. in the 90s I adored Warehouse. I aspire to Me&Em and Sézane but in reality my budget is more Next.

Waitaminutewheresmejumper · 04/10/2025 08:49

It used to be Topshop then in the 00s, i seemed to be dressed mostly in Whistles clothing. Dorothy Perkins was always my "whatever I pick up will always fit perfectly" shop. Nowadays, I'm a bit of a magpie, no one place quite fits the bill anymore.

Cantonet · 04/10/2025 09:55

It used to be Maxmara & Marella, plus Episode for suits.

BlueberryLatte · 04/10/2025 09:57

At the risk of being run out of town by the fashion police, I'm a Boden and Seasalt person 😬

happytobemrsg · 04/10/2025 12:10

Unfortunately I’d say Zara. Not very imaginative but 70% of my clothes are from there. There rest is Uniqlo (cashmere) or a couple of bits from H&M.

Furknickersandglitz · 04/10/2025 12:22

@EscapadeVelocity I would love to have beautiful clothes, lots of different outfits and be known for my style. I currently have around 2 winter outfits and lots of old comfy clothes that I really couldn't wear outside the house

cramptramp · 04/10/2025 12:24

I’m very COS. Unfortunately my income isn’t.

EscapadeVelocity · 04/10/2025 12:47

Most people don’t need lots of outfits, though. Just enough nice things for the life you lead, so you can leave the house with confidence.

I suppose I was asking whether you’re interested in being directed to some possible sources, or not?

Ireolu · 04/10/2025 12:56

Me and em & Wyse London love most of it and look on there daily.
Hush & boden on occasion.

neveradmit17 · 04/10/2025 13:00

I used to love Jigsaw 20 years ago. They used to sell beautifully cut jackets, skirts and trousers always in lovely fabrics. Then something happened to them..they went a bit weird with their designs and started using cheap rotten fabrics. 😱

Furknickersandglitz · 04/10/2025 13:02

@EscapadeVelocity leaving the house with confidence is exactly it. I would like to feel well 'put together".

I need a new cardigan, my current one is about 8 years old. Its an old faithful. I can throw it on over anything, it's grey, it has holes in it on the elbows from so much wear. I have just looked though the whole of the Next online cardigan section,it includes other brands, there is nothing I like. My current cardigan is knitted, slightly batwing, bum length, lapels that i turn up around the neck. I'm looking for this style again but there is nothing !

Yes plse to some sources, ty 😊

WilmaDickshow · 04/10/2025 13:08

Lucy and Yak… I have lots of their stuff, though they’ve gone more and more expensive over the years.

Also Joanie for their jumpers and cardigans, Levi’s, Boden.

dudsville · 04/10/2025 13:16

Boringly, just Toast. Though at the moment it's only toast about 2019 to 2024, but it's my whole wardrobe. I love vinted for this reason.

EscapadeVelocity · 04/10/2025 13:19

So (in my not at all humble opinion, and acknowledging I know nothing about you, @Furknickersandglitz) I’d say your first mistake is to be looking to replicate an item you bought 8 years ago.

Why (and how!) would anyone in 2025 want to leave the house in a batwing cardigan from Next? When the alternative might be a suede blazer or a cord barn jacket, or a leather bomber jacket, or any number of other options?

I don’t know which brands Next stocks, and wouldn’t want to suggest others without knowing your size and budget. It might be worth your while to look for some good quality, fashionable brands on pre-owned sites.

UpMyself · 04/10/2025 13:29

@Furknickersandglitz , look at brands known for knitwear. Depending on your budget, you could try Cashmere Clothing & Fabrics | Johnstons of Elgin, Brora | Luxury Scottish Cashmere & Clothing, and others, or Ladies’ Knitwear | Jumpers & Cardigans | House of Bruar, WoolOvers | Natural Knitwear.

On the high street, you could try JL, MnS, FatFace, Seasalt, Mint Velvet, H&M, TKMaxx, New Look, Zara, supermarkets, Matalan, Primark, M&Co, Bon Marche etc.

Furknickersandglitz · 04/10/2025 13:29

@EscapadeVelocity I laughed but saw the light when I read your reply. I totally agree. My DH says my v old cardigan looks granny type. A blazer sounds fab but is that not a bit formal ? I like that my cardigan is comfy and cosy but I want a put together look, I want to ooze style. I need some help with it all !

unsevered67 · 04/10/2025 13:32

I used to love Jigsaw too . But in recent years the clothes have been way overpriced and cut strangely. It was definitely a bit more quirky before.
I go through spells of liking Mint velvet , and spells of hating it.
I like Sezane for knitwear, but don’t go for the embroidered or lacy stuff so much.
Other stories has some real gems in amongst clothes for folk much younger and more fashionable than me
But sadly there’s not 1 shop that I feel is consistently “me”
